“Amazing House”
Reviewed June 20, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We travelled down for a few days with a group of friends and had an incredible time. The house was amazing. So many things to do: snooker table, football table, ping pong and we spent many hours just lounging in the jacuzzi. There was lots of stuff to do around the property as well and there is a helpful book of leaflets when you get there to tell you your options. We spent a lovely day on Bude beach which was only about 20 minutes drive away. Would definitely recommend and wish we could have stayed longer!

“Very welcoming and well equipped”
Reviewed April 22, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We arrived at the house mid afternoon on the Friday and were greeted by the owner. She welcomed us and took us into the house. She showed us around and showed us how to use the wood burner in the dining room.
The house was lovely and warm and had a very homely feel. On the kitchen table there was a huge basket of home made scones, a dish of jam, a dish of clotted cream and a jug of fresh milk..
When we went up to the bedrooms there was a basket full of towels ready for our use. They also supplied special beach towels for hot tub.
Every bedroom was en-suite and had everything we needed.
The kitchen was also very well equipped with a lovely big range style cooker, microwave & toaster.
There was a baby lamb that we were allowed to care for. The owner had 2 sheep dogs that we were allowed to take out for a walk each day.
There was a games room just outside the house in a kind of out-house. This room had table tennis, football table, ice-hockey table, ball pool, skittles and some peddle toys for small children to play on.
We had a lovely week even though the weather was not too good for the first part of the week.
We are hoping to go back again in a couple of years.

“Excellent escape to the country.”
Reviewed March 19, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We have just returned from an excellent weekend at Beech House with a group of friends. The welcome of cream teas really set the bar high for the rest of our stay. We made excellent use of the hottub, and were more than happy to spend a day lounging around the cosy living room and playing snooker when the weather was bad. The kitchen and dining room were large enough to easily cook large meals and all eat together. The location is also ideal for nice country walks and trips to the coast, great for a group with different interests. I would definitely go again.

“An excellent property for staying with an extended family.”
Reviewed November 18, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

This was our third holiday to Thorne Park and we weren't disappointed. The farmhouse is perfect for staying in with family or friends with children. All of the rooms are a good size and have ensuites. The farmhouse itself is lovely with loads for the children to do - outside there is play equipment (climbing frame, swing, trampoline ...) a playbarn with table tennis and ball pit, hot tub, inside there's a snooker table. The children love it - ours are aged between 5 and 12 and it is ideal for this age group. The children also really enjoyed helping to feed the sheep with the farmer. Because there is so much for the children to do they would happily never leave the farmhouse (although of course there's loads of lovely places to visit near here which we did). Also the fact that it feels really safe and there's so much for them to do means that the adults get time to relax too. There are some nice walks that you can do from the farmhouse but there is no village base or pub in close walking distance. However Holsworthy is only a 5 minute drive and this has a supermarket and some shops in it. This is a great property for spending time in a large group. Marlene and Dave are lovely hosts who are very welcoming but not instrusive to your holiday.

“Wonderful relaxing farmhouse with plenty to occupy all ages”
Reviewed September 3, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed at Beech House for a week in August with 12 members of family including grandparents and baby. The hot tub was brilliant and we all enjoyed the trampoline. The kitchen is very well equiped and it was great to find a holiday home with a dining table to seat us all at the same time. The children really enjoyed feeding the lambs and calf every morning and although the weather was typically English we still had a wonderful holiday.

We had homemade cream tea awaiting us when we arrived and a lovely cake delivered on our final day which was a lovely surprise.

The only downside in my opinion would be that the vast array of board games all have pieces missing making playing difficult - I would recommend bringing your own if you like games.

“A lovely getaway”
Reviewed July 22, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We had a great week at Beech House. The house itself looks wonderful and is nicely furnished and we particularly enjoyed the hot tub and feeding the lambs every day. There's loads to do on-site from a children's playground with trampolline and zipwire, to table tennis, snooker, TV...etc although if you do want to leave and explore I'd say that having cars really helps as it's a reasonably long walk to the closest town (Holsworthy) and the beach town of Bude is about 10 miles. While probably usually a property that goes to families, we were a group of 20-23 year olds and it suited us well. Wifi is available, but only in one room. In a way that's a good thing as a holiday should be a bit of an escape! The owners were lovely and so were their dogs and sheep! Would definitely recommend.
