Just returned from 2 days at Woodford Bridge on an Amazon Local deal – we were told we were the first! Very nice set-up – staff all very pleasant, and we had a ‘refurbished’ house (T3) which was super on the inside, with bags of space, all mod cons (dishwasher etc., 2 comfy sofas, big tv) but needing urgent work outside – the bathroom window cill was totally rotten.(Not a concern when staying, but a note for those maintaining the properties). The leisure section is great – a lovely pool and Jacuzzi, good gymn, and the surroundings are very pleasant and peaceful. It could be so much better with a decent dining room! There is really zero ambience – no character whatsoever. On our first night there was advance publicity that “tonight we have XXX XXXXX to sing for you” and my immediate concept that this felt like an old folks home was upheld by what followed, with a Sinatra and Buble impersonator doing his best – not a great evening out, although the food was good on both nights, and staff helpful. We were told more than once that the restaurant is ‘franchised’ – this needs looking at. However, for a couple of nights away, this fits the bill for a pleasant relaxing location.

Room Tip: Everything appeared of consistent standard

Thank you for your comments. We are happy to read that you had a pleasant stay at Woodford Bridge Country Club and found the accommodations comfortable and well equipped. However, we are sorry to learn about the condition of the window sill-we have referred this issue to our maintenance team. With regards to the live performers, of course this is a very emotive subject and we would like to assure you that we try to provide a variety of entertainment to suit most tastes, we are sorry that this particular one was not to your liking. We trust however that this has not caused you any inconvenience and we hope that you have had an overall enjoyable stay with us. We hope to see you again in the future.

Kind regards

We booked a 2 night break through Booking.com and got a great deal. Booked a club suite but were given a one bed lodge that was bigger and better. The lodge was lovely and warm when we arrived and there was tea and coffee sachets available with milk in the fridge. No need to do anything as the bed was already made up. We were given a lodge for disabled which was probably bigger (neither of us are disabled!). I was disappointed as the bathroom was a large wetroom that never seemed to dry with only a shower, my soak in the bath went out of the window!! The whole lodge was very clean and nicely furnished, we had a tv and dvd player in the lounge and another tv in the bedroom. The kitchen had a washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer and had everything except a baking tray. We used the restaurant on the 1st night and it was fine for the money. Pool looked nice but we didn't venture in! We went to Barnstaple as the weather wasn't good and Clovelly which was less than half and hour away. Waitrose nearby in Holsworthy is a good 20 mins drive. Overall a lovely cosy couple of days in a super little place.
PS double check your credit card statement as we were over charged by £275!! Our break only cost £50 for 2 nights!! New computer system was to blame.

The picture is deceiving in that the majority of the accommodation is in new units dotted around the grounds. They are well appointed and spacious. The service was excellent. My only gripe was having to pay for Internet access. £20 for 3 nights.

Four of us stayed in their one bedroomed apartment for one night as a stop over, it was absolutely fabulous, we wished we had researched better before we went as we would have stayed longer to make use of the facilities. Really nice helpful staff, apartments are very modern, clean and well equipped. Would definitely stay again.
Very very reasonable for what you get. Amazed!

We are Diamond members and have never been here before. We really enjoyed coming to this resort.. You do need transport. And apart from the restaurant in the hotel there are no restaurants near by unless you drive into Holsworthy 10 miles down the road for an Indian or chinese. We did go into Holsworthy (waitrose) and brought the essentials and cooked a few times in the well equipped kitchen. We did eat a couple of times in the hotel restaurant, we had the carvery, not brilliant, vegetables very tasteless and watery gravey!! Breakfast was good, served with tea or coffee, would have been nice a refill but waiter did mention it would cost extra.
Over the years the resort has been constantly refurbished,
The hotel pool area has all been refurbished and this looks really good. Our girls had a great time in the pool and enjoyed a game of poole in the club house. Sam the entertainer would put on entertainment in the evening, from quiz nights, painting, cake decorating and dancing and singing. Lots of fun!! The grounds are kept well, and the resort is a quite and tranquil place.
The staff are excellent and they will always assist wherever possible. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: We had room A30, lovely stream outside our bedroom window and quiet.

We used the Woodford Bridge while visiting family in Devon over a weekend.

The Internet accomodation rate was very reasonable and the refurbished apartment was equipped to a very high standard. Check-in an and check-out was a breeze and the reception team were really helpful and friendly.

We stayed for dinner which was a bit chaotic as they had been overbooked and the staff were very apologetic as service was slow. The restaurant is OK for a meal out although if you are looking for anything special, it may worth looking elsewhere. Breakfast was good and well priced. As much as the Club tries to cater for those less able guests, the site is built into the side if a valley and is spread out and hilly in places so it's worth bearing in mind if for guests who aren't so strong on their legs.

I'd certainly recommend Woodford Bridge and would stay there again.

I can't fault the accommodation at Woodford Bridge. We had a club suite, which is a large double room - beautifully decorated with a bathroom to die for! We had a microwave, fridge and all the normal coffee and tea facilities - the fridge was a real bonus for storing milk for our 11 month old baby. The only let down was the adjoining coach house restaurant. The food was by and large good and very well presented, but a long wait of an hour for the main course on our first night, with cold under cooked chips, followed by a long wait for desert the following evening, which had been overheated (I wasn't charged for the desert as a result) and over cooked bacon at breakfast didn't give a great impression. The prices were however reasonable and there was a good selection to choose from, which is why we went back! The staff were friendly and helpful and we wouldn't hesitate to return if we can get another Late Rooms deal. For anyone considering a stay at Woodford Bridge, you will need use of a car, as there is not much to see and do locally, but the Country Club boasts beautiful grounds and a leisure centre on site - ideal for children.
