From the wonderful hosts to the fantastic property everything about this stay was excellent. The pictures really do not do justice to this expansive accommodation and wonderful outside areas. The pool is actually a proper swimming pool rather than a plunge pool and the surrounding area is delightful for lying around in the sun.
The location of the property is great too with a bus stop nearby for trips out and about and with shops a only a stones throw away. If you feel energetic as we did then you can easily walk into Victoria (and back) and to a wonderful nearby bay.
We travelled as a 2 family group and there was more than enough room to find our own space with a number of sitting area choices available.
Finally, the jewel in the crown has to be the helpfulness and welcome from Laura and Louis who went out of their way on more than one occasion to ensure our needs were met and indeed they excelled in making sure we left happy :)
This old but totally refurbished farmhouse was perfect for our extended family needs. It is spacious with many areas that one can lose themselves for some peace and tranquility. Each bedroom was different but well appointed. We stayed for 1 week and wished it was longer. The owners could not do enough the pool was checked every day as we were 8 adults and 3 kids to ensure sufficient chlorine was there. The outside fan was faulty and with one word it was replaced for a far better one. We asked about a high chair for a toddler and one was delivered. In short the owners do everything to make your stay a comfortable one. The house itself is on three floors with air con in 4 of 5 bedrooms. The 5th is a ground floor twin equipped with a strong fan. The pool area was perfect with a separate small pool for toddlers. There is a utility washing room should you feel the need. Indoor dining table for all. But we ate outdoors most days. Parking was easy with plenty of spaces for our 3 cars. This was a perfect location to explore Gozo. A family friendly bar and play ground called greens was only 3 min walk away. Along with a well stocked supermarket (small but all essentials). We will definitely return to this farmhouse, you only have to step inside to see why. Gozo has a slower pace than Malta and we all commented on how friendly the locals were. Gozo is one of the nicest and friendliest places we have been.
We were a family party spanning three generations and had a great time in the villa. The pool area is brilliant, lots of space in and out of the sun, and inflatables that kept the grandchildren very happy. Inside the house there are lots of nooks and crannies for people to relax with others and by themselves. The view from the top balcony is amazing. Laura and Louis are perfect hosts. Unfortunately while we were there some building work was going on nearby, they did everything possible to ameliorate the situation, which was not of their making and over which they had no control. They more than compensated with the wonderful barbecue they provided to see the sunset at Dwejra. They also struck up an unexpected relationship with our autistic grandson who responded to them in a way we have never seen before, as well as making the seventh birthday of our other grandson special by providing a very chocolate-y birthday cake. Only slight niggle, Kercem is very quiet, wonderful for the adults but a bit disappointing for the 17 year old who had to join us in the evenings instead (she didn't really complain!)
Words fail me. The house and it's amenities are second to none. The photographs online don't give full justice to how beautifully presented this house is. As an extended family of 8 we had more than enough space. Our family holiday was just perfect. Louis and Laura are wonderful hosts.
Where do you start to review perfection. Spotlessly clean. Excellent sized rooms. Good supply of cooking and eating equipment. Very friendly and obliging owners. Swimming pool and swimming pool 'toys' perfect.
I was contacted by Laura a few days before travelling to see if we would like her to buy some food/drink for us as we would be late arriving. It was all there when we arrived and we were so pleased to be able to have a cup of tea.
The 2 bottles of lovely red wine that we were given was so smooth that once you started the bottle it would have been rude not to finish it.
The living areas, dining area and bedrooms were perfect and the furnishings were a delight.
It was ideal for children whom enjoyed playing hide and seek.
Hopefully we will be back as all 6 of us enjoyed every minute we were there.
The nearest City of any size is Victoria which is a 10 minute bus ride from the end of the road. The tickets, costing 1.5 Euros last for 2 hours and you can go anywhere on the island or in Malta using them.
In Kercem there are 2 mini supermarkets for everyday shopping within a five minute walk plus a bakers. 2 restraurants are again within a 5 minutes walk and both serve good quality food.
Laura and Louise were the perfect hosts.
We have stayed in countless villas/farmhouses in Malta and Gozo over the years, and I can honestly say not only is Il Kixxifija one of the most beautiful, spacious and well equipped properties we have ever stayed, the owners Laura and Louis are so passionate about ensuring you enjoy your stay it really makes for a special experience.
We arrived early so got to see how much effort was being put into cleaning the property, every inch of the outside area was being pressure washed and scrubbed, and the inside was given similar treatment, and the end product was that it was easily the most pristinely clean property we had ever stayed. Even things like the fridges and BBQ were totally immaculate, amazing. The owners had even put some essentials in the fridge for our arrival and insisted we sat down and enjoyed a cold beer whilst they were finishing up.
The photos and description don't do this place justice, it really has been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard, indoors and out, it's seriously impressive. The photos also don't show just how well equipped it is, such as the gas BBQ, fast wifi, free aircon and the huge second fridge freezer in the dining room meaning there was plenty of room to keep our water and cisk ice cold! It's also spread across three floors, so lots of room for our large family to spread out.
The only couple of minor negatives were no aircon in the downstairs bedroom. The bedroom door furniture although rustic and beautiful was quite clunky and loud, meaning morning time was quite noisy as people started emerging from their rooms. Wifi didn't work in all the bedrooms
We also recommend Greens Sports bar which is a 2 minute walk away at the football stadium, cheap and cheerful food/drinks with play area for the kids! Yummy take away pizzas as well Perfect!
Honestly the 5 star reviews on this place are no fluke, it's very special and the owners are the nicest and most passionate people you could ever meet. We will be back for sure. If you're thinking of booking this place just do it, you will not be disappointed.
