Description: “Peyia Tavern” is a family restaurant and is highly recommended, here you will have the opportunity to sample the “Traditional Special Meat Meze”, great dish for the meat lovers. The meat is cooked in the traditional Cypriot way (on the charcoal). The Special Meze is served one dish at a time by the Taverna staff which are family members. Be careful not to over face yourself with the bread, salad, dips and pourgouri (traditional couscous) which is served as an appetiser prior to the meat dishes. Also the taverna serves traditional dishes like "Halloumi", "Sieftalia" and "Stifado".

Had the Meze! Authentic tasting Greek food at its best!! The Hallumi was a delight as was all the meat dishes... Went in the evening and sat outside for great atmosphere and views. We stayed at nearby Coral Bay and this is much better than the Greek ones in Coral Bay.

I am in the Merchant navy and as such have travelled round the world many times and eaten in many places. I recently ate here with my family whilst on holiday in Cyprus.

It was great. Basically no menu, you just ask what he has got and he will let you know or you take the Meze which is a bit like a Cypriot version of Spanish Tapas for those who have never been. 14 courses later and you are full, satisfied and very happy with life. Pork chop, Lamb chop, Kebab, salad, cheeses, olives, chicken, the list goes on and on.

The view isnt really great but its a village tavern next to a road so it is in its traditional spot. I would be willing to bet that the road has been built round this place.

Micheal that owns the place is the head waiter, working with his two sons who have returned after completing university! His wife is back of the house cooking on what I could only imagine to be the biggest bbq ever.

Booking is required even during the week as locals travel well over an hour to come back again and again.

My mouth is watering just writing this!!!

Brilliant.

This clean Cypriot owned and run restaurant in the main village was welcoming and pretty with outside shaded eating area overlooking the road as you can see in the photo. It advertised Meze at £15 per head and proved most delicious. Staff speak excellent English with humour - on choice of house wine 'Would you like happy, sexy, dancing or funny wine?' and our choice of red was easy on the palate, good with the many plates of good quality freshly prepared food. Go early (6.30) to secure an outside table or book by popping in during the day.

The best thing to have here is the meze as it's by far the best deal. However, the food comes are varying rates and sometimes you're offered the same thing twice! All is very tasty, starting with various Greek dips and bread. The meat dishes - including chicken, pork, beef, and lamb come along with chips and couscous. It's really hard to eat everything and this time we were beaten before we had completed 14 of the 15 dishes on offer. The place is always buzzing and unless you choose the right time to arrive, you may be offered the last table which is almost out on the road.

I live in this village and this is one of the best restaurants in the area. However be advised. You get enormous amounts of food. There is a menu despite what others say. Its on the wall on the outside near the door.
The wine is good value and you never have a headache. Beer is a bit pricey. I always warn people of the meze. Its not really a meze, its a bit of everything on the menu.
If four of us are eating we order 1 halloumi (Best in the world here!) and 2 main courses and still have some left over to feed the local cats. Best to book, Michael is a great host and he will introduce you to Silvio berlesconi who is the fattest tom cat ever. (Likes the ladies!)
