“Great find! Excellent place to stay with young children”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

What a great find this accommodation was, a little gem of a place tucked away from the noise of the main road. Its up a little winding road and set back with mountains and greenery behind you and the sea in front of you, really breathtaking. We went as a family with 2 children and a baby and everything was ideal!. The apartment was lovely, very spacious and spotlessly clean , (air con tv, high chair, baby bath even our own paddling pool for the baby) we actually booked the top floor but realized with the stairs it was,nt really suitable with the kids and pram etc so asked if we could change (being August and busy we didnt think we could) but Alison was so kind and helpful and immediately changed people around to accommodate us which we thought was really good of her. Theres also a lovely big swimming pool (which the kids were in ALL day and a nice little pool snack bar with yummy snacks and the best milkshakes ever, there is also a little play area with swings/slide etc for the younger ones. I could go on and on praising this place. It was one of our best holidays ever and would recommend anyone with a family wanting somewhere safe quiet and peaceful to try here. Thank you all at the Rising sun for a such wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: if you have young children choose a ground floor.

This was a really lovely place to holiday. Cant thank Alison enough for her kindness and hospitality, she made our holiday so enjoyable. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day, with a change of linen and clean towels every other day or so. The views from our balcony were spectacular, the gardens and lovely swimming pool were also well maintained. we hired a car from Spero the owner (who has very good car hire rates) and explored the beautiful Island. We hope to return again next year and will most definitely recommend the Rising Sun to friends and family. Thank you once again to all the staff for their friendliness throughout our stay. Firstly. The plus points, great view nice owner and staff. Cleaner daily sheet change once a week towels daily if required. Spotless clean rooms.
Corfu is beautiful weather in 30's.
Pool to hotel very clean ,not heated but manageable.

Approx 30 minute walk to town busy road no path.Steep hill to get to hotel.
Cooking facilities realy not very user friendly.like to cook brekki on hols only did it once here as too fiddly, small two ring stove sparce pots pans etc.
The shower is small and the bathroom floods each time you shower ,water nice and hot though.never used tv but think it's all Greek.Bora bora in town great for food reasonable prices too.the big bite next door is nice too.Very cheap to eat and drink out.
Spiro the owner is a gem and will give you any tips of places to see etc.
Beds very hard and low to ground. Good though for price.

Lots of nice beaches to see,Gouvia town a must .
Corfu town like oxford street on a bad day .

Room Tip: High floor best views

My husband and I have recently returned from a 10 day stay at the Rising Sun. We had a fantastic time. The view from our balcony was stunning, the swimming pool was one of the nicest we have ever been in, rooms were spotlessly clean and tidied almost everyday, they had lovely soft bath towels which you dont usually find in these places. The service and friendliness from the staff made our stay so enjoyable. What you see in the photos are exactly what its like. We hired a car so we saw a lot of the beautiful Island. We will definitely recommend this place, one of the best holidays we have had in a while.

Room Tip: Bottom floors are a lot cooler.

Very basic twin room up on a very steep hill and pricy for what it offers. It is 20mins away from Kerkyra (Corfu) city by car which has all the island's amenities. We stayed there less days than we originally booked as it was not what it looks like in the photos. The balcony door did not even have a lock! The kitchen facilities were pretty old and the crockery looked so dirty we didn't even want to drink water from the mugs!

Quite boring in general, more suitable for families who want holidays away from the crowds.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

Have just returned from a week's stay at the Rising Sun. The view from the balcony was absolutely stunning - across the water to the mountains of the Greek mainland. Lovely pool and the studio was spotlessly clean. Nice to have flat screen TV and air con in the room. The bathroom was rather cramped and cooking facilities were basic and only just manageable.
There is quite a steep climb up the hill to the apartments(hence the views) and once on the main road it is about a 20 min walk into Benitses where there is a good range of tavernas and eating places. (Try the Big Bite which is deceptive from the front as some tables are just next to the sea). However the road is quite busy so be extra careful!
The owners, Alison and Spiros were very welcoming and accommodating. The fruit and water in the room was a nice touch. Spiros also does car hire at competetive rates.
If you are exploring the island this is well located but a car is very useful anyway. If you want a quiet break out of the main season then this is ideal.

Room Tip: Ask for a large balcony and first floor for the views.
