Alexanna Apartments
Reviewed July 2, 2013

We have just returned from a week staying at the Alexanna Apartments, near Fiskardo, we were in the apartment called "Terpis". This was a late booking so we had the last room available, which was very clean and had everything we needed plus a large balcony, with a small glimpse of the sea acrross to Ithaka. We would have preferred an apartment with a better view, however, this did not spoil our stay in anyway. Rownenna the owner who met us on the first day is a delightful lady and more than willing to help in anyway. The apartments were particularly quiet during our stay even though full, and more often than not we had the beautiful pool to oursleves. The Alexanna Apartments are in a rural location, we felt as if we were in the real Kefalonia, not a tourist resort. A car is really necessary while staying here as its about a 10 minute drive or so to Fiskardo, although there are a couple of supermarkets within a few minutes drive for any shopping required. We were able to buy everything we needed for our stay from one of the supermarkets even though it was quite small. There are also two other villages on the way to Fiskardo with restaurants too. Fiskardo has so many restaurants its hard to choose where to go, but we visited Elli's and Nicholas, we also liked to eat at the little taverna in Foki Bay, which is just in a stunning location. There are plenty of little shops, bars and restaurants in Fiskardo to wonder around, its a lovely location to visit. Beautiful bays to swim in, pebbles not sand, great for snorkelling.
The only thing I would mention about "Terpis" is that there are a lot of trees around the balcony, which marr the view somewhat, and over hang the balcony a little, this may not appeal to everyone, although it was fine for us. The balcony was not overlooked we felt it was private enough for us. We were privalidged to see a Pine Marten from the balcony, which apprently are quite hard to find. We would definately recommend a stay here and would go back again!
By the way, the weather was fantastic, really hot, I mean really hot!!!!!

Room Tip: Choose an apartment on a higher floor if possible

Just returned from a week at this amazing apartments. The position of them is out of this world if you want peace and tranquility. They are spotlessly clean and have everything that you need for a self catering break plus they are owned by the most amazing lady (Rowena) A perfect stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in Thalia which had a fabulous view and easily accessible.

These apartments are beautifully kept and have wonderful views from the balconies.IKEA furniture - where did that come from! We were on the first floor in 'Efterpi' and I'd recommend this as having one of the best views. We didn't use the pool at all as it wasn't the best of weather while we were there but it is also clean and well kept.
The kitchen is well enough equipped for a holiday and a lovely welcome pack awaits. Bins are emptied regularly and sheets/towels changed mid-week. Unusually for a Greek bathroom, you can actually flush toilet paper down their loos!! You can walk (20mins) to a well stocked mini market, greengrocer and the excellent Ionio Taverna - Greek music on a Wednesday night but you do need to book a table as it will be full. A car is needed to get anywhere else.

Room Tip: Best to choose an upstairs room for views.

We stayed at the Alexanna apartments in October through a Voyage Privae deal. We had a one bed apartment with a lovely, large balcony overlooking the sea, which was very clean & well furnished. Unfortunately, the weather was awful for most of the week, there was a limited amount to do due to it being the end of season but I could see how wonderful it would be in the summer. The apartments owner is a lovely lady who makes you feel very welcome, we liked the welcome hamper on arrival, which saved us having to go shopping on the first day after a long journey - much appreciated! It was a case of right place, wrong time, the wet weather brought out the mosquitoes & I was badly bitten on the first night. Fortunately, there is a local doctor in the next village who speaks excellent English & a very helpful pharmacist, so antibiotic cream was purchased to reduce the swelling. A car is essential to explore the island, as there are lots of beautiful beaches & villages to visit, there is also a brilliant taverner 5 minutes away which serves excellent food.

Perfect location and nice apartment. Quite basic however for those who are looking for somewhere just to sleep Alexanna is great.Clean, comfortable and very spacious. Didn't use facilities such as pool. Only a few minutes drive away from the town. Car hire is essential.

We stayed in the Terpis apt [part of Alexanna] and the accommodation was fine with twin beds, kitchenette, bathroom and a balcony with fair sea views. The bathroom was a little small and I think the owners missed a trick in not having a traditional Greek bathroom. A TV or radio would have been welcomed as the apt/area is so quiet! The welcome basket was very nice allowing us time to get familiar with the area and to locate the nearest supermarkets. Being close to Fiscardo is also a bonus as it is a beautiful waterfront with tavernas & bars.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better sea view

We also stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment Efterpi. Arrived to a clean and well maintained apartment with a bottle of wine and water in the fridge, fresh bread, tea and coffee etc waiting. Spacious, comfortable and maid service during the week. The swimming pool is a sun trap but with plenty of shade too.
If you want peace and quiet Alexanna has it. The downside is you are reliant on a car, nothing is walking distance and whilst being on the side of a hill gives glorious views to Ithaka a wheel chair would be difficult
