Nothing like reading Trip Advisor reviews to show how different we all are....we came back from these apartments about 3 weeks ago, and unlike the previous reviewers, we thought they were great. We were on the third floor, following the advice of a previous reviewer and the view was stunning - who needs TV when you can sit and watch the boats come and go in Fiscardo harbour....The walk into Fiscardo wasn't too steep we didn't think, but definitely better early on or around 8.00 when there was shade. We didn't think the apartments were basic or tired - certainly not compared to Crete last year (and we loved that holiday too). Shower was a bit worn, but water was always hot. Pool was lovely, always got a sun lounger, very friendly staff...but the beaches were the best bit - Foki Bay was our favourite. We also loved the Panaroma restaurant and chose to eat there twice - and we thought Elli's was a bit of rip off, so it just shows, in the end we read the advice on here but then have to decide for ourselves. Biggest tip to anyone going to Kefalonia, go on Jamie's Marine Adventure, from Fiscardo Harbour - worth every euro.....

Without doubt, this has to be the worst "value for money" holiday that my wife and i have ever spent.

Whilst the views from the apartments are stunning, the same cannot be said of the apartments themselves. Basic and functional is about all that be said. The showerhead in the bathroom, when it did not cause the fixing to collpase, was filthy, "gunged up" and eventually replaced when the showerhead fixing fell off.

One morning there was no hot water, which was dismissed by a rep as "people using up all the hot water" where as in fact there was an electrical problem which no one took seriously until the early evening, when to the owners' credit it was sorted quickly.

By the way, if you are spending £2k on a two week holiday here, toilet rolls are not included! I was told that this was the usual practice in Greece. I just wonder which Greece i have been visiting over the years!

Ionian Island Holidays publicise themselves as providing "Exclusive Holidays" which using a normal dictionary meaning would mean they are high class. In their reply to my letter of complaint on my return i was told that exclusive meant that the properties were only used by them!

The swimming pool - " in a clearing surrounded by oak wookland" spouts the brochure. Forget it! Overlooking the car park, close to the road and electricity pylons! Sun beds and umbrellas were in a terrible state.

Fiscardo itself - lovely. Just don't stay here!

We have just returned from these apartments. We traveled with ionian Holidays who were excellent. I would certainly recommend this company and use it again. However, the Kalokeri Apartments were a very bad choice for our holiday for two reasons - they were a little TOO far out of Fiscardo down a steep hill and there was nothing else in the vicinity except a seasonal shop that was not open and a local taverna. Secondly, when confined to Kalokeri by bad weather or lack of transport the suites were not at all comfortable. The furniture and fittings were frugal and basic and like a previous reviewer we found that hot water was not always available. They were also extremely noisy - we could hear everything going on in the other apartments around us. A baby that cried day and night and a couple rowing and banging around on the other side was not what we wanted on a crash-out holiday.

We chose the apartments because we had heard all about Fiscardo from friends. It really is a delightful place with boats coming and going all day and plenty of nice restaurants and bars around the harbour. It is expensive though and we were quite shocked at some of the prices - 4e for a beer or coffee and simple meals costing on average 40-50e for two. Prices in the supermarkets were ridiculous and obviously inflated for the yachties and tourists who had no other option but to buy their supplies in the village. it was particularly galling to hear an ex-pat admit that locals were charged less for most things everywhere.

Because we got fed up with the drag down to town twice a day, we ate mostly at the Panorama traditional Taverna opposite in the evenings. The food was variable - great kleftico and wild goat, but most other things were far too oily and basic. Be very careful here because they tell you the daily specials but dont tell you the prices, and very often we found that the better restaurants down town were actually cheaper and better quality. Our favourite restaurants were Elli's right at the end of the harbour and Tassio's who is a famous TV chef in Greece. We also liked the only patisserie in town right in the middle of the harbour (free wi fi and the nicest toilet we have ever seen) and we found the cheapest bar was the Fishbone which is on the left hand side as you go down the white steps from the church and main car park.

So to sum up, we loved Fiscardo but wished we had chosen alternative accommodation. If we go again we will be taking as many supplies as possible and eating in a lot more!

We were in second floor apartment with a great view over Fiskardo port and looking towards Ithaca.
Sadly the weather was so poor for much of the week we were often grounded through rain and wind. It is then that you find how basic the accommodation is. There is a basic kitchenette with no microwave. The shower is dated and the hot water must be on a timer as it was often was tepid. The bed is so hard and uncomfortable and there are no comforts like tv, cd/ dvd player hair drier or washing machine that we have in resort/timeshare these days.
Whilst we wouldn't normally need all of these luxuries as we would be out most of the time we wouldn't re-visit this accommodation until it had a make-over and update. Putting everything in perspective though we were impressed by the organisation of Ionian holidays. Their staff were 'on the ball' and knowledgeable.

We've just returned from a week staying in the Kalokeri Apartments near Fiscardo and really enjoyed our stay. The apartments have an amazing view over Fiscardo, which more than makes up for them being on the basic side. We were lucky to be on the top floor, so try asking for this floor when you book for the best views. The Emlissi beach is a 10 minutes walk away - it's a pebbly beach so rubber shoes to swim in or flippers are a good idea. Or lay on one of the rocks at the side of the beach for more comfort. We really enjoyed snorkeling here.

Right opposite the apartments is the fantastic Panorama Taverna - it's good wholesome Greek food, and cheaper than you'll find in Fiscardo. The taverna might not look brilliant from the outside but is definitely worth trying out - and asking what's on special.

There are some good restaurants in Fiscardo, our favourite was Lord Falcon, a Thai restaurant tucked around the back. We also ate a good paella at Eli's the first restaurant you come to in Fiscardo. Shopping here isn't cheap even with the end of season 20% sales.

If you want a special meal in a contemporary setting, head to the Emelisse hotel - again it's not cheap, but a romantic enjoyable evening.

We booked a last minute week direct with Ionian Island Holidays who were offering a great discount on their web page which we took along with a repeat customer discount after we travelled to Kioni, Ithaca in July .
We chose the Kalokeri appartments after we noticed them whilst staying at the Emelisse Art Hotel in Fiskardo, and thought the view and position was excellent.
Kalokeri stands on the main road about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Fiskardo harbour and 10 minutes from Emblissi beach in the other direction. The view we had from the top floor was absolutley fantastic at any time of the day, watching the yachts come and go in the harbour, and Ithaca beyond. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was clean spacious and offered a great little kitchen area.
There is also a private pool for guests, which we thought seemed more popular for the guests with children, we prefered to walk to the 2 local pebble beaches or the one called Foki which was a good 25/30 min walk or a 6min drive.
The other nice touch with these appartments was the inclusion of a car for 3 days either at the start or the end of the week. They deliver and collect them to and from the car park at the side of the appartments.
Over all these appartments provided us with a quality location, fantastic views and a very enjoyable holiday in Fiskardo which we love for a great holiday and will be returning most likely next year.
