We have stayed at this hotel in September 2010.
At first the air conditioning (for which they charge an extra 5EUR/night) was not functioning. They tried to fix it but didn't manage. Therefore they changed our room with another one where the AC was functioning.
The view from the balcony is really great as you can see the entire bay. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The room is clean and the towels and sheets are changed every 2 days.
Most of the tourists in this hotel and the entire resort were seniors so this is not quite the place to stay if you're in your twenties.
It's true that one of the closest beaches is 200m down the hill from the hotel.
The pool is also clean but the down part is the fact that if you arrive too late in the morning all of the sunbeds are taken, or they are reserved by people putting towels on them even though they were not there.
All in all a nice place if you want a quiet, relaxing stay. There are also plenty of trips that can be booked to visit the entire island. My favourite was Paxos & Antipaxos.

This hotel is situated on the side of a steep hill overlooking the bays of Paleokastritsa. This gives really great views across the bays but is not good for anybody who is not able-bodied.

The welcome was pleasant and friendly, the room was clean, bright and basic, with an en suite bathroom and a balcony giving panoramic views. It met all of our needs as a couple celebrating our silver wedding.. The TV had BBC 1, 2, Channel 4 and 5, plus CNN, etc.

Close by there are numerous tavernas, all pretty good, although not cheap, there are several bays and coves, some pebble and some sand, boat trips around the bays and to private beaches. Be aware that many places require access by flights of steps, some very long. We counted 110 steps from the Dolphin Taverna to our room..

Corfu town is a 40 minute bus ride away and costs € 2.80.

The other guests were mainly Germans.

Best things: good greek buffet style evening meals, friendly service, excellent views, live music twice a week, local real ale at bar, nice guests, swimming pool/sun loungers/shades.

Worst things: drinks not cheap (although no dearer than the other local outlets), lots of steps.

One of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in run very efficiently as a family business - everyone on the staff seemed to be related to the second generation owners. We holidayed there for a fortnight during which time the dinner menu was varied and of excellent quality. Musical entertainment was available twice a week. The room was simply furnished but spotlessly clean and very comfortable with an efficient air conditioning unit. The simming pool was well maintained although we preferred the local beaches one of which was down a lenghty flight of steps (80+) but worth the effort as rewarded by a quiet pebble beach with excellent simming and sunbeds & umbrellas at a reasonable rent. A quarter of an hours walk to the main resort reached a busier beach but with half a dozen good restuarants - we only had one poor (and expensive) meal. The trip to the monastry was well worthwhile and everyone we met were helpful and pleasant. One of the few places we would recommend without hesitation both for the area and this excellent hotel. This hotel come recommended to us, it was lovely holiday, you cannot beat the sea view in the morning when you wake up, the hotel is very clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The Buffet style evening meal was very good, a choice of 4 or 5 meals each night. Breakfast was adequate to give you the kick start in the morning to get out and explore and enjoy yourself.

This hotel needs to decide why it exists - to help give holiday makers a great time or to give management and staff something to do.
When you arrive you are given a sheet with some rules to be followed, the forbidden use of electric mosquito products purchased in GB being one (the reason given is false) - but hey, the supermarket attached to the hotel will sell you just what you need!
When we tried to take our unfinished large bottle of still water back to the restaurant on our 2nd night we were told in no uncertain terms we couldnt bring drink in from outside. But we bought it here last night I protested. 'I know' came the reply, 'but you dont have the receipt to prove it' The waitress knew we had bought it there because she had sold us it, she knew we didnt have the receipt because she took it when we paid. She ordered us to put the bottle on the floor. We didnt purchase any more drinks from the hotel after that, costing them about 75 euros on dinner drinks from us alone. I know of others who had similar experiences.
This hotel does nothing above the basics. There is nothing that makes you think 'That was good service'. No towels for the pool, no advance notice of any entertainment, and staff who made it clear that when we went early to breakfast, as we had an early pick up for a trip, we were not welcome - even though the cereal and milk were out and not near them putting the breakfast food out to get cold.
The food is put out early so is going cold both morning and in the evening. Hot breakfast food was cold so we commented on it and, in fairness, there was some improvement. But what is the point of putting out 2 min and 5 min boiled eggs at 7-15am. Whats the difference between them at, say, 8-30 when business in the dining room is picking up?
Our bathroom had no extract fan only a vent that you had to be 7 foot tall to open, but seeing as it opened on to a corridor that was probably best. Soundproofing was non existent, perfect if you like to hear your neighbours going to the loo during the night.
Paying extra for air conditioning annoys me. That would have to come from money budgetted for drinks, souvenirs, trips etc. Why not add it up front and let us pay in pounds and pence?
Our tour rep told us the management here 'bristle' when they are given feedback they dont like. They seem to think because its their way its the best way.
Paleo itself is busy during the day, but very quiet at night. I've been to quiet places before and enjoyed them, but this place has no atmosphere. Pretty, maybe but boring.

We have just returned from a week’s stay at the Odysseus Hotel and found all the staff helpful and friendly. In our view this is a 'no frills' good honest hotel which is family run. We stayed half board and ate in the hotel every evening where there a varied selection of food. Would we stay at this hotel again, yes.
We hired a bike so managed to see quite a bit of the north of the island and found some pretty 'traditional Greek' villages and a wonderful little Monastry in Mirtiotisea (near Glifada), well worth a visit.
I would not recommend a visit to the Monastery in Paleokastritsa it is just a tourist trap with nothing 'Godliness' taking place at all. I was also upset to see that some of the cats in the Monastery were not cared for and the priest was quoted to say 'I pray for a vet'. I would have thought that some of the donations could pay for a vet!??
Just outside Paleokstritsa you will find the Corfu Donkey Rescue Centre which is worth a visit, and we are told that Jeremy Clarkson is now their patron so hopefully he will raise their profile.
The main beaches in Paleo are quite busy but if you are happy to pitch a towel on the pebbles you can find some nice smaller beaches which are great for swimming, although the sea in this part of the island are very cold!
Despite the Paleo Monastery, we had a wonderful time in Corfu.

Went to this hotel last week in May first week of June 2010. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly and the location is great as it is in the centre of the resort which consists of one long road with few if any side streets. Most of the rooms are sea views and the views are stunning as Paleo is a beautiful resort backed by rugged tree clad mountains and fronted by 5 or 6 bays with incredibily clear turquoise sea.Rooms are a bit smaller than some weve had but about average for greece and they are impeccably maintained. We stayed half board and expected to be eating out some evenings but we didnt get bored with the choices and ate in every night.
I can recommend a boat trip to Paxos which is wonderful and hop on the local bus to Corfu Town which is delightful ,plenty to see ,old and new and great shops and cafebars
There are other local boat trips from from the harbour and beaches and a walk up to the Monastary is well worth it.
Dont know if it was because it was early season but nightlife was very sedate ,we found the best bar was the Belvedere pool bar opposite the hotel where Nikos makes everyone feel special and is always dishing out bits of food or extra drinks and making sure everyone has a good time.
You may read you have to share the dining tables with other guests which could be a worry but from what we could see everyone seeemed to enjoy it and our "couple from hell" was Steve and Maggie who were great company. Highly recommended.
