“Brilliant & isolated location”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

May 2014 Just back from a week staying in a tower room in this small friendly complex. Brilliant panoramic views in quiet location 3k from Nidri town (some people walked it) Lots of steps and steep slope down to main road. Staff friendly, buffet food good and decent drinks all inclusive. Rep Kevin and Tour Guide Joanna helpful and informative. Took Island Hopping and Island Discovery tours which were great and good value.
All Rooms are different and in the process of being refurbished. Best suited for a quiet break. Not much to do in evenings but go to town. Courtesy bus twice a day, local buses and taxis cheap. Many hired a car for few days to get around. WiFi intermittent, but this is a quiet greek island. Children and teenagers would be bored. We loved our week here.

We visited here in oct 2013 and were met at the airport by the rep suzie who was ok. We were then driven to the hotel were we checked in with the friendly receptionist. The staff couldnt have been more helpful. The room was nice and clean with a kitchen area in the open room the bed was on a raised wooden bit there was a seperate bathroom with a bath toilet and sink the shower attachment was hopeless water leaked everywhere when on and u had 2 hold it. U have to ask for plugs which is abit strange. The maids came in everyday and did a thorough job. sheets and towels were changed everyday. Food was ok not the best. u can get bitten badly at night so take insect repellent and plug in mosquito zappers for in the room. Can also be quite noisy with other guests banging around.

went there with my husband the last week of the season we had a really lovely holiday. the views are truly amazing which helped us to relax, we had a room with amazing view and were not troubled with smell . the staff were hard working and not in your face. the food is home-cooked food just a couple of choice of dishes, we got used to it and realised as the week went on that it was better then at first seemed. the setting for eating was very good as the views were amazing. the location is isoated you can get to some small beaches nearby short walks which we did and had the beach often to ourselves and swam and snorkeled. but it is a great base to explore from, lots of people hired a car and even a boat from nidri as the island is stunning and unspoilt, still retains the "real greece" yes it iwas quiet in the evening, we sat with some lovely new friends chatting and laughing, kevin and sue thankyou you helped to make our holiday what it was, the greek night on the last evening was fantastic fun and a great atmosphere. this hotel is more suited for couples or singles who want to chill out ,teenagers would be bored there is nothing for them to do in the evening.the island isnt really a lively place we found it to be a place where people were friendly, young and older couples together and yet repected each others space around the pool etc, the hotel isnt large or luxurious there are things that need updating etc etc but all in all we had such a good holiday felt chilled out and am still picturing that view

Room Tip: room 51 on the second floor has all round amazing view if you can manage stairs well worth it good s...

Me and the wife stayed in the last week of October, for us this hotel was a mixed bag, We loved the staff, loved the views, although the location is isolated, the hotel bus would run into Nidri three times a day, so that was ok. The guys at the bar never stopped and all drinks were a brand drink, and the lager was Amstel bottles, nice surprise. We paid a extra £70 for a tower room, and the room was ok.

The down points, we stayed in room 60 and there was a terrible smell of sewage at certain times of the day, but at night time the smell was terrible, had to put my head under the sheet to try and ease the smell, I was told they had cleaned the septic tank and that was the problem, but the real problem is this block is next to sewage drains, have taken a picture, dont know what it is, but the smell from this area is horrible.

The food , not a lot of selection, everything seems freshly cooked, and the salads were nice, but to try and make a normal meal nothing went together, just all a little weird, could not hack it for two weeks, started eating out at the end of the week. Shame to say this because people in the kitchen seemed to work hard to try to please.

Entertainment, Quiz one night, Greek night, on the last night. that is it.

The area, Nidri the main street, the worst town street I have seen for years, no character, dirty and needs lots of money spending on it , If you walk through one of the side alleys , you come to the mariner, nice, but nothing special.

Sivota, well worth the visit, we hired a car for two days, and spent one day in Sivota, just a small place, but we thought it was beautiful.

Vasillika, again well worth a visit, nice and peacefull

Lefkada town, probably because of the time of year, very quiet , but still worth a visit .

Kathisma beach, nothing special really

AG Niktas beach, small and friendly, nice to spend a few hours here.

So back to the Red Tower, this is a Marmite Hotel, some will love it, some not so, But know one can deny the views are fabulous and the staff are fantastic.

This is a lovey hotel views are AMAZING all round, food although simple was always moved to the dining room area covered yet basic was always cooked so well, we stayed a week and not once was there a bad meal. we stayed in the last week of the season 20th -27th Oct 13 and not once was we let down on what we had come to expect. all drinks all in until 22.30 each night and all drinks were BRANDED from soft drinks to vodkas beers etc, after that cash was accepted the bar was open until the last person left, yes this place was a taxi ride away from the next village and down a steep hill, but a free mini bus was supplied at certain times of the day both ways. the beaches are small and either pebbles or shingle but there is a hotel just over the road with its own beach/ jetties' etc. overall a great week great views great staff great food great beer, down side a very steep hill to the hotel small shingle beaches an a drive to the next village shops. get yourself out an about hire a boat for the day explore the islands or a car/bike and get into the mountains. visit the monastery and the waterfall

Great views and very helpful friendly staff - We enjoyed our week - just to chill out and relax but you are very cut off if just wanting a change of scene at any point. Holiday was 29 Sep - 6 Oct - nearing end of season so it was a struggle for this Hotel & its Staff to cater for bad weather - nowhere to sit comfortably under cover when the heavy rain & storm came - not enough room in "dining area" to cater for all to sit inside. Luckily we did have 4 hot sunny days! I would recommend staying in Nidri (as we did last year) as you have the lovely beach & Harbour area within walking distance also many shops and Tavernas too and of course you can also walk from here to the beautiful Waterfalls. Lefkas is stunning Island.

Room Tip: Sea View - Rooms 32 & 33 excellent views

great Views, lovely staff, but unless you stay around the lovely pool, it is uncomfortable, boring, not near enough to anything. the all inclusiveness has been done because it isn't near any shops for self catering. the food was good but poorly presented [ brought into the dining area uncovered], cooked food not hot enough which could have contributed to myself and wife catching a severe stomach bug which broke out the week before. the shuttle bus didn't go to the nearest beach [there isn't one] only to the agency office in the nearest town. all in all it's a pity could have been better .dangerous surfaces in wet weather to walk on making it unsafe for children and elderly.definitely not three star

Room Tip: room with sea view a must [fantastic to wake up to]
