“The best hotel-a fantastic find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2010

This hotel was a fantastic find! It was opened in May 2009 and everything in it is of excellent quality and spotless. I’ve been visiting the Greek Islands for the last 10 years now and have come to accept that Greek accommodation is pretty basic- as long as I have a bed and the apartment is clean that does me as long as I have the sun and beautiful scenery. However this year we had it all with the Elena Hotel in Nikiana- a powerful shower working 100%, beds made, rooms cleaned and lovely new white fluffy towels every day. This was a real holiday.

There was a lovely spread of food for breakfast -continental and cooked with a selection of food to cater for the variety of nationalities staying at the hotel and a variation in the selection of food from day to day.

The pool is small but perfectly adequate for the size of the hotel. There are deluxe sunbeds and parasols and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed.

Demitrios, the owner is an American Greek and is very keen to make sure his guests are comfortable, happy and contented. He is interested in guests’ opinions in order to make their stay even better. When I thought I had lost my new camera he immediately phoned the police in Lefkada Town and showed me on the map exactly how to get to the police station. Ariati on reception has excellent English, is friendly and always cheerful and gave us great directions for getting around the island and also to the mainland.

The bar this year has been franchised out and is possibly the only area I would not award 10 out of 10 to as the drinks are quite expensive and it was closed 2-5pm while we were there. Dimitri is aware of this and plans to run the bar and bar food himself next year.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to everyone. It is amazing value for money. It is the best hotel I’ve stayed in abroad and we were made to feel the most welcome of any accommodation we have so far stayed in.

This was a fantastic find and were always suspicious that the cost would mean it was 'cheap and cheerful'. This was the exact opposite; superbly decorated, clean and spacious.

It was a wonderful 'find' after a week previously sailing in a yacht with friends in the Southern Ionians, we needed a week to recover and to chill and relax. This hotel was perfect. When we were checked in by Arisha[?] the friendly receptionist we were shown to our rooms and we couldn't believe how spacious and clean and prestine they were.

I know this sounds very gushing but we also criticise when things are not right; it is also right that we should praise when conditions meet or exceed our expectations. This was the case. We met the American (Chicago) owner, Demitrios who was exceptionally helpful and caring as were all the staff.

The lounger beds, chairs and tables around the pool are lovley as is the welcome shade which is tastefully created with sails over wooden panels.

Breakfast was included but it is a shame the bar wasn't more flexible, selling ice-creams and snacks although shops to get these items were only 50 yards away.

These words do not do the hotel justice, suffice to say, we would have paid twice the amount we were charged for such a lovely holiday retreat.

The hotel is about 150 yards from the pebbly beach which is not perfect but there are some other lovely beaches around. It is probably best to hire a car for a couple of days which costs about £35 per day for three days.

We are Trip Advisor first time crits - this site has worked for us in many cases - so I hope this is this time it works for you....

The super fine beaches in Lefkas (kathisma, ag. nikitas, katsiki) have very few new & fine hotels worth staying at....

So we picked the Eleana - situated off the main street in Nikiana - no NOISE!! - the beach is 120m down the street but not anything special for Lefkas - heck jump in your car and drive to the west coast to swim in beaches people in Maui dream of ever seeing...

Great for kids, it has a kiddy pool, a kiddy playground, lots of grass and many areas to lounge around the pool. Yes, this is all on the hotel property - not a small one - i am guessing at about 10,000 sq.ft of public outdoor pool and lounging area. Yes, that is bid for Lefkas!!

The rooms are very large (maybe 550 sq.ft), look and smell new and yes spotless. In fact they feel like mini apartments with a private kitchen ROOM!, washroom and queen bed area. Ours had an additional loft space which was not small or tight at all...room in fact for a small desk area and a luggage area opposite the two double beds!!

So, when you need a great sleep or to sit & lounge after a great fresh breakfast, do it in class like you are in South Maui - surrounded by the best architecture, staff and pool areas. For those travelers with expensive taste - for those who know the typical costs $$ to outfit a hotel room with quality furniture, kitchenettes, washroom fixtures, flooring and add to that a super large pool, endless new outdoor furniture etc. then you would appreciate this property!!

We will be back soon.....
