We returned to Skiathos recently and stayed out of town in contrast to our last holiday in Skiathos Town itself. We had worried that there might be less to do. How wrong we were. Kolios, has a host of friendly tavernas to visit for meals at reasonable prices and typical Greek hospitality. We found buying food at local supermarkets expensive, so try and pack wisely for your visit. We took our own tea, coffee, sweeteners and cereals. As has been mentioned before mozzy spray is a must and plug-ins for night time; even better if you take a course of garlic capsules or vit B beforehand. Remember wasp spray for August. We managed to do without the AC, instead keeping the glass door open at night time and we found this quite comfortable. We had a good sea view, even on the ground floor The studios are set way back from the road so there is no worry about disturbing traffic. The area around the studios is perfect for relaxing and de-stressing. There are some amazing walks around the area, as well as the 10 minute walk to the beautiful beach - easily one of the best on the island. We chose not to hire a car, although it might have been handy for a couple of days. Car hire is expensive. Beware of taxi drivers who try to charge extra by taking two fares at once. Watch out also for restaurant owners filling mineral bottles from the tap by the bus stop. After we spotted that we made sure we heard the click of a seal being broken when being served with water or open the bottle yourself. Barbara is charming and she works hard to maintain the studios and the surrounding areas. The gardens are immaculate. Her daughter is frequently around. Like the rest of Greece they are clearly being challenged by the recent financial difficulties; they are quite forthcoming in their discussions about this, but this does not stop them caring relentlessly for their clients. We would certainly return here in the near future.

Room Tip: Upstairs have AC but top and bottom floors have a good view.

My friend and I booked a last minute deal to Skiathos and had already made use of the Trip Advisor reviews relating to this accommodation. We were certainly not disappointed! A gem of a place off the beaten tourist track, but so handy for everything that you could possibly want for a peaceful and relaxing holiday! The well -stocked Manos Supermarket is literally about a five minute walk away and has freshly baked rustic loaves daily! Lovely! There are also 6 tavernas along the 10 minute walk up to the appartments so if you are staying for a week there is plenty of choice very nearby as regards eating out. Also, the tavernas all have pools and non-residents are welcome to use any of them - obviously they hope that you will utilize their other facilities whilst you are there!

We had arrived expecting an inland view and were delighted to find that infact we probably had the best view of all the appartments, looking out over the carefully maintained gardens towards the glittering blue Aegean - about a 10 minute walk away.
The only thing that marred our stay were the mosquitoes! Inspite of taking all kinds of repellents with us, we were unfortunately the main course! Probably best to make use of the airconditioning and keep your windows shut at night having made sure before you sleep that you are totally alone!! Since returning I have been advised that a course of garlic tablets before departing is apparently the thing to do!

I however will not be going to any of the Greek Islands during the height of summer again! I would however go again as I love this part of the world and and if I visited Skiathos, I would definitely stay here

We stayed at Demetris Studios for one week this July, however would have loved to make it 2! The studios are located about a 15 min bus ride from the town. It is a lovely location as it is very quiet and located up a hill, leading to amazing views of the sea. The studios are set up as a typical greek self catering apartments. Basic but perfect for what you need. The kitchen has more than enough equipment to get by. The rooms are clean and serviced 2 times during the week. the real winner was the view. We had room 9, I would highly recommend requesting a room w/a view! The balcony overlooked the sea and was a prefect place to sit and dine. The pool was small but lovely and the there are plenty of lounge chairs for guests. There are small grocery stores nearby and some amazing restaurants such as Infinity Blue. The place is perfect if you are looking for a tranquil get away. Skiathos is a small but very beautiful island with loads of beaches and amazing clear water. The town is buzzing and the bars/rest. are amazing, however it is very nice to be situated just slightly out of the main town. I am very happy that we chose to stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone. A few tips: remember to bring your mozzy spray and request a balcony room! There is AC at an extra charge if you get really desperate. If you want a quiet holiday with wonderful beaches nearby, stay here!

Room Tip: Balcony room is a must!

Rated service as 4 only because Barbara doesn't speak English so if she's there on her own, and you've got an urgent question, you may have to wait until her daughters get there for an answer. This is not a criticism, just an observation. Otherwise, the service was great!

We read all the reviews and chose Demetris for its location and it was perfect in this respect. The studios are basic but tastefully decorated. The bathroom has a basin, toilet (plus the usual bin for the paper) and a handheld shower in the corner with a curtain. Water goes everywhere but there's a communal mop along the corridor - or take some absorbent cloths like a fellow Tripadvisor reviewer suggested. Decent fridge and electric kettle - didn't use the electric rings.

We requested an upper floor and if you like a view you need to be on the upper level - the ground floor studios have a nice lawn in front but less of a view. The studios are spotless and the garden is really well looked after with lots of lovely flowers in June. Didn't use the pool but it looked nice.
Nearest restaurants are just round the corner and the bus stops (both directions) are about 10 mins walk down the hill.

We'd been to Skiathos several times before (stayed in Troulos on our previous visits) but this was our first visit in 5 years - it was great to be back!

came september last year with friends, and loved skiathos, and the people, who despite the hardship they are going through, show such kindness, and friendliness, that you do indeed feel welcome. the weather was wonderful, and a dip in the pool was bliss, barbara, and her daughters work hard, and my room was clean, and had all that i needed.a non slip mat is handy to take, as the shower head is not fitted, and can be fun and games trying to shower, and wash hair. my friends all had their own technique for dealing with this. the buses are great, and being out of season we haggled for the price of a taxi. the most noise i heard was goats, birds, and cockerels, i returned again in may,and had another wonderful week. some people on the coach said they were coming home, and i know what they mean.

Room Tip: i was in room 10, the view is lovely.
