We had a two room apartment.

The first thing is that you do not want to be there in the last week before charter flights cease - Barbati (and many other places) closes down a week earlier. There are apparently two bar/restaurants there but one had already closed and the other closed after having served us breakfast on the Tuesday. The WLAN station was there and that went shortly afterwards, by the time we checked the TV out it was also down. Two restaurants and one supermarket were still open up on the main road. The upside of this is that the place was pretty much deserted and very quiet.

I can see this place interesting two sets of people - those who want to sit around on the stony beach and go swimming and those who have rented a car and want to go exploring. A few people hung around on the beach and seemed to be enjoying themselves, we had a car.

To the place itself,
- It has an internal road, you need a remote control to raise the barrier and drive in.
- Apartments. The cleaners come every second day and do a good job, although they sometimes leave the mosquito nets open.
- We only had WLAN on the terrace. Mosquitos! (this may have been because one restaurant had already closed down)
- the pebble beach is around 100m away. Most people will need sandals there. Two different places offer boat hire.
- they have a/c. We did not need it in October.
- The apartments are two-storey. Ground and first.

Our two weeks at Riviera apartments couldn't have been better. Our apartment was visited every day by friendly cleaners who replaced the bedding and towels every two or three days. We only met the manager on four occasions. Each time she was pleasant and helpful. The local restaurants were a bit disappointing all having similar menus but the apartment was excellent with no noise from other residents. well tended gardens all around, and an excellent view of Corfu Bay and the Albanian coast from the two balconies. A car would be an advantage if you want to see the island. If not, the beach is clean and the sea close at hand if you want an early morning dip

Room Tip: The apartments on two floors provide a good level of space

we had a 2 week vacation in a so called luxury apartment, which was so small we could not move around. in the description there was a terrace and garden which was not existent. the only door of the apartment was that of the balcony! and to go to the road you had to squeeze your self through the car parked and the plants. So, we changed for a bigger one, a lot more expensive but close to the beach. The problems we faced apart from the unacceptable manner of the manager were...high-speed wi-fi was not working, satellite had only some arab channels, local tv with no signal, in the 1st apartment the kitchen ventilatior was not working and we were told "that's how they work here..." but in the 2nd apartment was magically ok. then, we had no power for 2 nights which that was caused from a problem with the boiler for the hot water, which that broke down as well, so no hot water for 2 days, plus the plumber came for a whole afternoon, right on time for the kids nap...car remote was also not working, we also had that changed...
oh! the DVD was also not working so the 3 year old to amuse its self whilst we could have a quick walk in the town (dont worry guys, we had a baby-sitter...) and we were told that we are the ones who cause problems and we are getting the "manager" out of their house to come for us...
what i also find weird is you had to pay for sunbeds and umbrella. one would guess that 200€ per night would cover that...
Totally unfriendly, offensive and bad behaviour.
Think twice before booking with them...

Room Tip: if you are travelling with young kids, as for an apartment in the ground floor.

We just spent a week at La Riviera Barbati in a nice and very well equipped two room apartment complemented with a balcony, and a terrace overlooking a small garden including a 4x3 m private swimming pool (only some apartments have a private pool). The apartments have all the equipment you can possibly desire: very well equipped kitchen, laundry machine, flatscreen tv, satellite tv, dvd player, iron, free wireless internet, safety box etc etc. The hotel area is very nice, situated just by the beach, with a nice pool area with snack bar/restaurant, pool bar and a taverna. Each apartment has their private parking lot.

Guests from all over Europe, a lot of Dutch and Greek people, but also Swedes like ourselves, Germans, Russians, Norwegians etc.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and always greets you with a smile.

Barbati is a small village with a few supermarkets and shops and 6-7 restaurants/tavernas. A perfect place for a family with young kids who just wants to relax, take it easy and eat and drink well.

Highly recommended, we are already discussing going back next summer... :)

We just came back from a 2 week stay in one of the apartments in the Riviera Barbati resort. All in all a nice stay, below we summarised our main pros and cons:
1. Very nicely situated on the beach, with a medium-sized pool very nearby. Great sea view.
2. For Greece, the accomodation was very well equipped (including a washing machine which comes in handy when traveling with a six month old baby, as well as airconditioning in each room). However, if you expect 4 or 5 star luxury you will be disappointed.
3. Corfu is a beautiful and green island. The green surroundings come at a price though: it does rain sometimes (during our stay mid September on about a quarter of the days, sometimes quite a lot, but by no means the entire day). In addition, you definitely need to bring your musquito repellant, otherwise you will spent more time scratching than enjoying yourself.
4. Barbati is a small quiet place, without any cultural sights to see, but does have various restaurants, tavernas and bars. Contrary to our experience in other parts of Greece, the food in every one of them is OK, but far from special. The menu is more international tourist food (pizzas, pastas, burgers, though all home made in Greek style) combined with (sometimes unoriginal) Greek or local dishes.
5. The locals are very used to tourists, but even in September (which is quite a long way into their tourist season) remain very, very friendly and helpful.
Riviera Barbati is to be recommended if you seek rest, sun and nice surroundings.
