“Holiday Nightmare”
Reviewed October 16, 2009

Be careful of this Hotel we arrived in the afternoon met by grumpy hotel receptionist, booked in handed in passports told room upstairs had to carry your own bags, arrived at room very cramp, no bath just a shower, shower my foot drop anything you had to get out pick it up get back in, beds looked like they had been put together with pallet boards, meals sub standard but the bees enjoyed it there where hundred of them, no beach no entertainment, pool was okay, be careful of the wacky race to the beach in the not fit for humans mini bus, very dirty. The only good thing about this Hotel was Katrina the girl who done everything, a breath of fresh air, I could go on and on but I do not want to upset you any more, last thing the safe is twenty six pounds for twelve days, Thank You Mike

The positives about this hotel- pool clean, no fight for sun beds,
The negatives- food absolutely terrible, cold even if meant to be hot, chips or greasy wedges with everything, very poor breakfasts, snacks mean cheese toastie only between 2-4pm only. All inclusive drinks limited and strictly only until 11pm. Unhelpful staff, very noisy in the morning the cleaner woke us every morning at 7.45am. Sheets never changed on the bed. It was like an old peoples home at night, play cards or that is it!! no enertainment at all. Beds bedrooms tiny, very hard twin beds with very thin matresses. bathroom tiny, you cannot bend down in the shower, i am only a size 10!!
It is within walking distance of Barbati beach- a very quiet resort but it is a treacherous walk down a winding hilly road.

I wouldn't want to stay here again it was definately not worth the money even though we booked it last minute at a reduced rate. No beach worth visitng nearby, Barbati very rocky, Ipsos very narrow and shingle.

This was the best holiday ever, yes it has its ups and downs but you make your own holiday, if you are gonna be miserable then you will have a miserable holiday, ipsos is a lovely place not extremely busy like Corfu Town that i hated, nor extremely quiet, we met some really nice people at this hotel and the staff were very helpful, alanya was mainly on reception and would help anyone whatever you needed, the free bus was fantastic a great way to get to barbati or ipsos and was a great buzz, the room was small but adequate, when you see the balcony the views are to die for, yes food wasnt great but for the price we paid all inclusive there was nothing we could moan about (not like some obviously), Tiffanys in Ipsos is a great bar and nice people you get some characters its great, the hightlight of the holiday was hiring a speed boat (its a must) a great way to see the island, this was my partners first proper holiday abroad and he cant wait to go back, thankyou all for a great holiday!

Brilliant holiday! Poor hotel. My friend and I recently spent 7 nights at the Nautilus Hotel. We had already booked the holiday and were really worried about what we'd find after reading the reviews. We arrived in the middle of the night to a not so warm welcome from a chap who spoke almost no English.

We went straight to our "very small" room to get a few hours sleep before our first day. I would have asked to be moved if it wasn't for the amazing view from the balcony. All said and done it was a place to lay your head, nothing more, it wasn't a place to relax. Beds were hard and the TV didn't work. There was a small fridge that didn't work…. Air con wasn't free either... £5 per night!!

The main complex was focal point of the hotel... the bar, the pool and the restaurant were all here. Although you need gluts of steel and an oxygen tank to get there from you room… Stairs everywhere!! I don't advise going here with small children or if you are disabled. The food was disappointing, very bland and unexciting. Breakfast was served 8-10, dinner 12-2 and evening meal 6-8. I defiantly recommend eating out as much as possible. The local food was great. The bar was open from 10am untill 11pm and all-inclusive wasn't actually ALL inclusive. Only a selection of about 6 drinks was available to us. The local draught lager contained almost no alcohol.

The pool was nice enough and always busy. Be on the look out for wasps jumping in your drinks here! I was unfortunate to get stung in the mouth by a little bugger. Oh, and you can’t swim in the pool or sea after 8pm. No-one seems to know why.

My advice for a couple of mates or a group travelling here is, switch your hotel if you can, but if you can’t don't panic. If you’re looking for somewhere to hang out and be pampered this isn't the place for you. If you’re looking for a place to lay your head on a night then go for it…. But my advice is get out an about to see the beautiful island!

What made the holiday so brilliant for me was getting out of the hotel and seeing the sights and island itself. Also several people we met there were brilliant! Like Jana and Lin (Reviews Below). We all hired a boat for the day (fantastic day! - Snorkelling - moored up at a restaurant for lunch). On the other days we hired scooters and toured the island and saw probably some of the most amazing sights I’ve ever seen!

All the best!

Matt and J

We booked this 4*ALL INCLUSIVE! holiday and this hotel based on the advertising. At first glance the hotel looks nice, has a pool and has a list as long as your arm of activities, basketball, table tennis, snorkelling. etc. When we arrived late at night Egor was on reception and could only say limited words and pointed us to our room which by the way had more steps leading to it than the iffel tower. The room had 2 single beds and was very basic, the bathroom was tiny and if u drop the soap in the shower u have to open the door and step out to pick it up.(im only a size 10.).Veiws however are amazing.Oh we had a dead rat in the balcony roof with its tail hanging down.(it was there with us for the duration) The next morning we got up to beautiful weather and rushed down to breakfast, This is were it began......If u just eat tinned fruit and eat bread with ham and cheese then u may be happy. There was no fresh fruit and on occasion they had a tub of hard boiled eggs! We proceeded to the decking area and found loungers with ease.We eagerly awaited the beach bar to open as we were starving and as advertised snacks would have been available. This is also were we would get free snokell equpmet.10am passed then 11am then 12 noone came to open the bar. When we conplained they said it was to buzy.....(isnt this a good thing).Lunch was a lot better but buffet it wasnt, u had a choice of 2 meats veg potatoes. Dinner was the same.If u have young children forget it they wont eat it.Oh there is no childrens pool just a corner cut off by railings.
The rep we had was nice but it was clear she was ashamed of the hotel but couldnt do anything about it.We thought we could get away on some trips out but unfortunatly u could only got on them on a sun...Oh no i thought we are trapped in this dump. There was no entertainment we just sat round the pool and played cards.Thank god we meet really nice people whom all had the same review as us.We hired a boat together and toured the coves and beaches, snorkelling was great.6 of us for £ 20 each well worth worth it.Book at reception but dont ask for a towel they will bite your head off! If you still go to this hotel after reading this your mad, unfortunatly i didnt read the reviews before we went...LESSON LEARNT.Good luck

After reading some of the reviews on this hotel we were a bit unsure as to what we would find. We found this hotel was perfect for us, ok not four star as advertised but comfortable, we had a fantastic view from our balcony, staff very friendly and not many kids around, the food was typical greek, which annoyed some of the other english guests, we took our own fishing rod and were given good advice by bar staff on where to go for bait etc. The hotel offer a free mini bus ride to and from Ipsos and Barbati throughout the day but Barbati is only a ten minute walk, the hotel is on the hillside above the sea and they have built several sundeck areas near the sea, i agree with others that yes it is a long walk back up the hill to the main part of the hotel but it is worth it. A low point was that the hotel is due to close for the season on 29th Sept so they had closed off most of the building we stayed in and we did have a problem with hot water for a few days, but a tepid shower is better than none at all.

We spent seven nights on an all inclusive deal at this Hotel and we can honestly say it was the worst holiday we have ever had! We have travelled around the Greek islands over the last twenty years and think we know what is good and what it not so good!
We don't mind basic but good and this was very basic and bad. The only good thing was the weather and the fact that the hotel is in a fantastic location for views and peace and quiet. We had our young son with us and thought, as the write up said, we could walk to the local beach as it is only ten minutes away. You could not possibly walk as it is too dangerous on the roads with all the traffic and you cannot walk cross country as there is no way to the beach! A Taxi cost ten euros one way to the beach! Our room was NOT attractively furnished as stated, we had two single beds and a camp bed for my son. The bathroom was the smallest room I have ever been in. We paid an extra £5.50 per day for the air conditioning which we thought was included in the all inclusive. The food was the most basic food ever. We adore Greek food and the salads/bread were quite nice, but everything else was awful. All the people who we met in the week we were there said the same and there was even a woman filming the food obviously to show to her tour operator. Oh well I thought, drink some Metaxa and everything will be OK? WRONG - not included in the all inclusive eventhough it is a local spirit. We are sad that we saved all year to go away and wasted our money. The staff (not the girl behind reception) were pleasant and they do work extremely hard and I feel sad for them too!
