We were in Luz for a month and had never tried the pub with a different name before it became Barocca as it seemed to be a bit grubby and that was from the outside!
However, it has a new name and a very good restaurant with an attractive seating area of couches and chairs outside, complete with throws if it gets a bit windy, which it often does at night. We ate twice there and considering the stiff competition from the excellent restaurants in Luz which are our favourites, this says a lot, Other times we just stopped for a post dinner brandy and coffee on our way up the hill. Those of you who know Luz will understand what I mean!
The staff are mainly young, funny, efficient, helpful and very friendly. We were very impressed with their hosting abilities. They are a credit to the bar/restaurant.
A couple of minor observations: they could do with marketing their premises a bit more on the promenade. If you were from the other side of Luz, you wouldn't necessarily know it was there
The other thing of note, is that there is no view, except to watch people walking down the road to go to other restaurants.
A good place to chill out.
