“Great staff, warm and inviting atmosphere”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

We were in Luz for a month and had never tried the pub with a different name before it became Barocca as it seemed to be a bit grubby and that was from the outside!

However, it has a new name and a very good restaurant with an attractive seating area of couches and chairs outside, complete with throws if it gets a bit windy, which it often does at night. We ate twice there and considering the stiff competition from the excellent restaurants in Luz which are our favourites, this says a lot, Other times we just stopped for a post dinner brandy and coffee on our way up the hill. Those of you who know Luz will understand what I mean!

The staff are mainly young, funny, efficient, helpful and very friendly. We were very impressed with their hosting abilities. They are a credit to the bar/restaurant.

A couple of minor observations: they could do with marketing their premises a bit more on the promenade. If you were from the other side of Luz, you wouldn't necessarily know it was there

The other thing of note, is that there is no view, except to watch people walking down the road to go to other restaurants.

A good place to chill out.

“Fantastic service, wonderful food, perfect atmosphere for relaxing and socialising”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

We really enjoyed our two meals here, during our five day break. Sunday lunch was perfect, beef and chicken both highly recommended, lovely fresh vegetables, and home made roasters and Yorkshire pudding. My husband then watched the footy in a lovely side room, whilst I sat and chilled on the terrace in the sunshine and enjoyed a glass of vino with friends. In my opinion, perfect for large groups, families and couples, nothing is too much trouble for the lovely, friendly and genuine staff. Second meal a candlelit dinner, Loin of Pork (delicious) and Chicken Piri (best I have ever had and I have been travelling to Portugal for over 20years). I really like that you can choose rice, vegetables, salad etc as included side dishes. The drinks prices are also great value. We will be returning here again when next in Luz as perfect.

“Great family place to eat”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

We always call here when in Luz the food and staff are always superb. Once again we visited on our half term break and were not disappointed. We all had great meals, the staff are always attentive to us and the children. Favourites of ours are the prawns, fish and chip night and gorgeous Sunday roasts. There are numerous games for the children to enjoy and free wifi available. They also offer themed nights ie Halloween party ( fantastic last year) and the forthcoming menus for Christmas and New Year look fantastic. Always a pleasure and can't wait to visit again on our next trip to Luz.

“Night at Barocca”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

I visited Barocca on Saturday 19th October at 7.15 with my sister and brother in law from Scotland. We had a most enjoyable evening. The food was very good and the service received from the staff was excellent. We would certainly revisit the restaurant in the future.
