Cafe Rio is very unpretentious in looks from the exterior, it has a large undercover exterioir but a small inside cafe area which is where we like to eat. His lunch meal of the day menu is €8.50 and includes absolutely everything a cover, LARGE main course half a litre of wine or a beerr and your desset AND coffee.most charge for coffee on the plate of the day. His bifanas and snack meals are excellent too and all reasonably priced. His evening meals are superb and if you preorder he will make anything tou ask for, I have requested a Feshwada, a Portuguese national dish with pork and beans which seems to have disappeared from most menus as its a long cooking process. I will let you know what its like when we go to eat it next week!
His piri piri chicken is the best around Luz, Lagos area by far, His wines are from a local vineyard and the price reflects this, 2 euros for half a litre and its always well filled.
It's a hidden gem for good food at a good price, its on the Burgau road, opposiye Gustos. He closes on Wednesdays.

Café Rio is a true Portuguese café with food that is good, inexpensive and generous portions be that a snack at lunch time or a full meal in the evening, I have had both the meal of the day and meals off the menu all is good and nothing is too much trouble. Don’t be put off by the look from outside the food, service and welcome is always great, not to be missed.
