Stayed at this hotel for a week in September 2011 and was very impressed. The rooms are located in two/three storey buildings which are approached from pathways set in gardens of lovely shrubs and flowers which are kept immaculate. Our room was kept spotlessly clean throughout plus a comfortable bed, in some hotels it is like sleeping on a rock! We had a first floor superior room so had views of the pool one side from the balcony and windows at the back had views of the hills, which if you had the energy you could climb to the top of. We managed half way but this provided lovely views over Luz Bay.
We were half board meals, we enjoyed breakfast (I liked the coffee - all down to taste). There wasn't much choice at evening but some nights the dining room was practically empty so it would not be economical to provide more and at £18 supplement we thought was expensive.
Pools were quiet and two afternoons we had the adult pool to ourselves. Some sunbeds had seen better days but there were always plenty available at all times of the day. There was shade provided which was needed as the sun was still very powerful.
Luz Bay was a short walk and again very tranquil with a few bars, retaurants and shops. There were two supermarkets but we only shopped at Spar.
We went to Lagos on the local bus which was very crowded so best caught at the Church rather than the stop by hotel, we were given this tip and were glad we were told. We spent the day in the old town which has a surprisingly good selection of shops.
We had a wonderful week just chilling out and this is a good place to go to do just that.

Room Tip: All rooms had a nice view but ground floor was less private.

Stayed there for two nights on half board since we could get a good deal. We had a ground floor appartment which was a good size. Fridge was big too but very noisy which kept us awake at night (we wear earplugs but that dind't help :-). Also the bathroom was a good size with nice toiletries and towels changed daily. A good shower but a weird ceiling - some sort of aluminium roster through which you could see all the pipes etc. Toilet seat didn't fit the toilet properly.
The porperty itself is nicely laid out with good pools and amidst a big garden. Food at the restaurant was OK, patio and band that performed there was also nice. Staff attentive and friendly. TOgether with the atmosphere and the setting that what makes this hotel very good, it's not the actual rooms or faciliteis but the nice quiet atmosphere.
Tennis courts are in disrepair since they were flooded a couple of times. About 1omin walk to a nice beach. Catres to an older crowd mostly.

Quiet location within 5 mins walk to the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included in the rate was varied and in a lovely setting.
Pool was unheated but perfect to cool off in the hot summer days. Adult only pool meant we had the children in the family pool without stressing about how noisy they were being.
Just the right mix of quiet time and closeness to Luz.
We're going back next year!

Just returned from a very enjoyable holiday at this very attractive hotel complex. The villas are lovely well set out in beautiful gardens with 3 pools, tennis courts etc. Very handy for the beach just 5 minutes walk away. Not a place if you are looking for a lively holiday but to chill out and enjoy the lovely nearby restaurants - especially Fortaleza Da Luz jazz on Sunday and the Lime Tree. A late night stop at the Jasmin Cafe just 2 mins from the holiday for a coffee and liquer is a must. Staff extremely pleasant and breakfast on the patio every morning is just lovely. Bed linen and towels changed every day which is a very pleasant and uncommon experience. Recommend for a relaxed chilled out experience bus stop for other nearby towns right outside but too relaxed to bother!!

First stay was in October 2009. Our memory was of a clean, spacious, relaxed well maintained hotel in a good location for walking out to local amenities & restaurants etc.
We were not disappointed during our second stay from 27th August to 3rd Sept this year. Hotel lived up to expectations - very clean spacious rooms, very good daily room servicing with frequent towel changes etc. Fridge in room - very useful. Good sized outside terrace with table & chairs.
Grounds are very spacious & extremely well kept. main swimming pool with separate childrens shallow pool plus a 3rd adults only pool area. Pools cleaned every morning. Sauna, Turkish bath, massage facilities and tennis courts available.
We stayed on a room & breakfast basis - buffet breakfast with hot & cold selections. Although same selection each morning, there was enough variety on offer so that you could vary your breakfast each day. (Wife's complaint - no fresh bananas at breakfast). Biggest criticism - rubbish coffee & tea from the machines in the dining room.
Hotel was full during this stay but was incredibly quiet - always loads of spare sun beds around the pool. Never the early morning scramble to reserve your place!!
Staff friendly & efficient but unobtrusive.
Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: All rooms face inwards to the grounds. First floor overlooking main pool area are probably the best...

The hotel is very quiet and we had a totally relaxing holiday. Our room was huge with a separate part with a sofa bed. Rooms cleaned every day, fresh towels several times a week and bed changed twice. Fab breakfast apart from the coffee! We ended up buying sachets of coffee from the supermarket and adding hot water at breakfast. Top tip! Staff very unobtrusive but helpful when asked about anything. Would definitely stay here again. Praia da Luz is a beautiful resort. Very quiet with lots of lovely restaurants. We went to Valentino's twice. Good food and excellent value for money (half litre of wine 3.50 euros!). Don't go if you are starving though as food took a long time to come but worth the wait. Onda Luz, The Gallery and A Concha are all lovely restaurants serving excellent portuguese food at reasonable prices. The average price we paid for two with drinks was about 45 euros. All in all an excellent holiday and we wished we were staying longer than a week. Will definitely go back.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor in the main part of the hotel overlooking the pools. Lovely big ba...

We 've stayed in Luz Bay hotel (not "Luna" - they have some confusion with names) 2 weeks in the beg. of August. 2 couples w/o kids. And we will be happy to return here with and w/o kids.
The hotel is very nice. Spacious rooms overlook the nice internal space with 2 pools for kids, trees and greenery. (there is3d swimming pool for adults). Kids were playing and "chirping" all day long - such a great music. Each room is has a balcony where 4 people can sit at the table.
The room cleanup service is extremely good. There are also small kitchens - one such is shared by several rooms - so you can make tea/coffee for yourself (that we did).
The hotel is close to the beach (5 min walk) and while the sea (ocean) was a little chilly - we enjoyed swimming there a lot.
Luz is nice village to spend vacation - white, very clean; good promenade, some nice shopping (jewelry and clothing), a lot of cafes and restaurants. There are also 2 supermarkets to buy food in case you are renting apartment and want to prepare food. And of course - to buy fruits - portugese figs are the best!
In regard of what to improve in the hotel: there is no reasonable coffee at the breakfast and internet WiFi is slow with some DNS problems (it costs 15 euro per 7 days). But those are minor items. Good coffee available in all shops and cafes around. And live with slow internet connection during vacation is OK. (i still was able to call via Skype)
Hotels also has free parking. We had a car and visited many places in the radius of~ 60 km. On the weekends there are live music at the hotel restaurant - that is well heard from the balconies.
Can say nothing about the hotel restaurant as we never lunch or dinner there. Other then coffee the breakfast was Ok but same all days.
So the hotel is great. Algarve is fantastic. And vacation is too short.
