I've just got back from a week at this hotel with my fiancee, and I've gotta say this place really does do the whole hotel experience very well indeed.

So what sets it aside for me? The staff were always extremely helpful, cheerful and basically couldn't do enough for you. Whether that be near enough forcing extra towels on us to take to the beach, making dinner and activity reservations for us over the phone, surprising us with a free bottle of bubbly as we let it slip that it was our anniversary, making you feel welcome, wanted and like they truly appreciate your custom, or the fact that the place was so immaculately clean - they just did the little things and the basics incredibly well.

General points: the rooms were lovely, spacious, clean, awesome shower, ALL with stunning sea views (bar the few rooms that are on the ground floor) and excellent (quiet) air con systems. The rooms were cleaned and the towels changed every day - there seemed to always be someone cleaning or cleaning windows, trimming hedges - they clearly pride themselves on the appearance of the hotel.

The onsite restaurant was really good - one of the best fillet steaks ive ever had for 17 euros - you cannot complain! The prawns and duck were also amazing! The buffet breakfast was excellent and they don't short change you with naff bacon and cheap sausages - the bacon is proper thick cut good quality kind and the sausages were nice ones! So there was a full english buffet (fried bread was great too) - loads of fruit, yoghurts, 7 different cereals, fresh meat and cheese, melon etc - we even made bacon rolls at breakfast and they'd wrap them in foil for us so we could take them for lunch! Excellent! Even the coffee was good quality and very nice!

The 2 pools are excellent - again, very clean - the smaller one is heated but the massive one is nice and refreshing on the scorching hot days - plus there was always plenty of sun beds and limitless towels for you to use. The poolside bar does really nice sparking white wine on tap that was as nice as some champagne! They also do burgers (4 euros), sandwiches - they just offer everything you need. Whoever is in charge of this place clearly knows what customers want and they do everything they can to give it to you.

Right, in order to give a balanced view i'll try and say negatives too, but i really do have to be incredibly picky to find any! There was no extractor fan in the bathroom. Big deal, that caused no problems at all. We had 2 single beds pushed together instead of a double. Again, no big deal - i understand this is the norm in Portugal. If you go to th ebeach or out for dinner, there is a 10 minute walk uphill to get home. Again, no big deal - helped me work off all the fillet steaks i was eating! Incidentally, we ate (twice) at the Fortaleza da Luz - its and ancient fortress straight down the hill from the hotel and the food (and wine) in that place was AMAZING! The fillet steak was the softest ive ever had, and the smoked duck starter and sardine pate were absolutely gorgeous. HIGHLY recommended (and better than the Dolphin restaurant which is also recommended).

So all in all, an awesome holiday - a great hotel with a great onsite restaurant, and we were both incredibly impressed with this hotel. They really do do their job very well indeed and i would not hesitate in recommending it, or booking another trip there.

We had never been away for Christmas before, but kids have flown the nest. We have stayed in Luz before and visited the Belavista. Our stay over Christmas was tremendous the room rates were standard (off season) only the festive food to pay for (drink included). We didn't pay for anything extra between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. The rooms are excellent, comfortable beds all with sea views. Staff couldn't have been more helpful

  • Liked — Comfortable beds great food and very friendly staff

What a fantastic place!!
Fantastic rooms, all rooms have views, very clean, plenty of tea and coffee daily and fresh fruit on your arrival.
A beautiful place where nothing is too much trouble , even for children.!! All the staff are friendly and extremely helpful, speaking very good English. The restaurant is superb, a good range of food that caters for all. They even located goats milk within two days of us asking where we could actually get it from( which is a godsend) for us as my daughter has an allergy to cows milk.
They have two pools, one heated for those who are not brave like myself and plenty of supplies of towels to be used by the pool at no extra charge which if you have children is an absolute bonus

It is a very well run family business that caters for all.

Cannot find any faults, have already booked to return next year. Can't wait!!!
