“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

It’s not the top end of the scale but the food’s good, good chef and it’s reasonably priced. The owners only took over a year or so ago and said how quiet it was in September and how the recession is really biting, especially with the Portuguese. The staff are friendly and while eating in the alley isn’t ideal, it was pleasant in the warm evening. As the interior was quiet, there wasn’t much ambience in there but if it was busy it would be nice.

“Gloomy and depressing”
Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

As frequent diners out in the Algarve this was by far away our worst experience.
It's a large basement diner with down at heel 70s decor.
An Englishwoman sits scowling behind the small bar, counting money. The electricity failed every 5 minutes.
The staff are unfriendly and miserable.
The food/ menu has a feast of 70s favourites including prawn cocktail. The pizzas are poor. Our party left most of theirs.
I managed to do better. Fresh dourada was available and it was cooked well.
Everything else was dull and poor quality
The clientele were largely English on self catered holidays trying to feed large families cheaply.
Luz offers many many better restaurants than this.

“Reasonably priced food in a friendly atmosphere.”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We had a very enjoyable meal here. Valentinos presents as a down to earth restaurant with very reasonable prices, however the food was tasty and there was plenty to choose from. Some of our party had the fish special of the day and loved it. The vegetarian was well catered for also. The staff were very friendly and everything was served in good time.
We could hear the kitchen staff singing "If you're happy and you know it..." - this is not a particularly formal place!
It was a hot night in August and there was no air conditioning, but it was just about bearable with all the fans on full blast.
With 3 courses each and wine and beer, our party of 5 ate for less than €100.

“Like it a cheap frozen meal”
Reviewed August 30, 2012 via mobile

Ate the set menu here and it was like eating a frozen dinner from Iceland food stores. Service was appalling and the restaurant was dark and gloomy. I would never go back to this as I feel it was a waste of money.

“Lovely meal”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Good wholesome food in homely surroundings. Interior was a bit basic, toilets not great, but overall service was good and food lovely.
