After reading so many enthusiastic reviews about this restaurant, we decided to try it the first night of our holidays. The food was totally indifferent, I had a steak which was dry and hubby had the beef stamna-supposedly the special dish- which was pieces of meat and feta thrown together after cooking. The meat pie was so greasy, we ended up with indigestion. This is not real greek, trust me! Oh and by the way that was the most expensive meal of many which followed and by far the poorest.

We ate in Stamna Taverna many times during our holiday, the food was delicious and the family who run the taverna were very welcoming and friendly, the whole experience of eating in the taverna was wonderful. I normally always like to try a different dish every time I eat in a taverna but the chicken dish was so delicious I couldn't resist ordering it again. My husband and I don't normally order a pudding but we were having such a good time enjoying the families company and the atmosphere so much at the end of the evening that we ate absolutely divine puddings. Alexandros, the son, was especially good company, he taught my husband lots of Greek sentences and I taught Alexandros some interesting medical facts because he is going to medical school to study to be a doctor, which I feel confident he will make a very good caring doctor one day. We highly recommend eating at Stamna tavern.

Frozen vegetables and I suspect dolmades out of a jar. Same price as tavernas that serve good food. Won't be returning.

Stamna Restaurant ‘Right of Reply’

Having been established for a number of years we are delighted at the high level of ‘repeat’
customers that we regularly welcome back to Stamna Restaurant. We believe this is testament to the quality food and the professional and friendly customer service provided. Compliments are many. We genuinely believe some of the comments made on Trip Advisor do not represent the true position. For the record we would like to emphasise the following.

We have never used frozen vegetables. Locally grown and fresh produce has always been used and this will continue to be the case. All sauces are made by ourselves. Quality is of paramount importance to us and we are blessed to have our own allotment that provides an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits. Visitors who commented on frozen vegetables are clearly not aware of the exorbitant cost of frozen foods and supermarket sauces in Greece.

All meats are purchased from a local butcher on a very regular basis and cooked in a traditional Greek fashion by the chef who has a diploma specialising in ‘seven island cuisine’. It may taste or look different to what some patrons are accustomed to in their own country.

In addition to the kitchen area, there are two members of staff who exclusively ‘waiter’ for our
guests. When required, additional staff resources have been called upon. We do request that large groups book their meals in advance to give us the opportunity to make prior arrangements and prevent undue delay. Unfortunately, large groups do not always make a reservation and this is an occupational hazard that all restaurants may occasionally suffer from.

Our prices are in accordance with other local restaurants and some items on our menu, cost less. It is important to mention that we also offer many nights of local entertainment, Greek music and dance, absolutely free of charge.

We welcome this opportunity to convey our comments and would request that you visit Stamna
Restaurant and form your own opinion. We are confident you will enjoy a great meal in our lovely surrounding.
