Lido
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Myself and my partner stayed at the Hotel Lido in the first week in May 2014. It is in a perfect position for investigating Limenas; Set slightly away from the centre of the town - but only a minute or two from the town’s plethora of bars; restaurants; shops and the harbour itself. Panos and his staff couldn't do more to be helpful. Rooms were on the small side but were spotless - I would definitely recommend a rear facing room; as the view of the Hotel garden and Acropolis is stunning - and you won't endure the noise from the traffic on the front. Breakfasts are simple…but are more than ample to enable you to start your day

If you’re interested in the history / archaeology of the town / island I’d recommend that you either purchase a copy of the Thasos A to Z travel guide (by Tony Oswin - who can be found in season by the harbour side to answer any questions or queries you may have) or a copy of McGilchrists Greek islands No. 11 - Thasos (by Nigel McGilchrist)

Finally should you wish to undertake a guided tour / jeep safari of the Island I cannot recommend enough Real Holidays Greece (based out of Skala Prinos) Yannis will arrange a personalised tour to meet what you want to view / see of the island – for us he went out of his way (and showed us sides of the island that as a non-local you’d miss…) and is an absolute Gent. I cannot recommend his services enough

Room Tip: Request a rear room for the view (...and lack of traffic noise)

(+) It doesn`t metter where are you situated on Thassos. You are close to everything all the time because the village is small enough. I think that the owner is doing bussines there with his family. He and his wife are the only one who is speaking English in that hotel. The man on the desk was hospitable with great smile and he was in help to find everything I was asked for.

(-) This hotel doesn`t have his own parking, but it`s free to park anywhere. There was a pool with cold water (useless), for me that is a minus because it was written on booking.com it is inside pool (which supposed to be warm!). Our room wast big enough with 2 separated beds with a view to the street. This was inconvenience - too crowdy at daytime and too noisy at night. There is no soundproof from the corridor or the street. Ask for a room with garden view, but be prepared for them - they are too small and one side of the bed is next to the wall!!! The beds were ok. Pillows are too strong and the sheets are like from nylon - you can`t feel comfortable to have a good rest there! So my question - Is this a hotel or a hostel??? Anyway I couldn`t felt asleep for more than 4 hours there. It was too noisy or too hot (high temp with nylon sheets = bad combination). Our shower in the bathroom was shaking all the time and after my request to the lady from the front desk it wasn`t fixed. At last there is a WiFi in our room but ONLY behind the front door ... Super bad! I am totally disappointed from this hotel. Good service - yes, but this is not enough to care about my vacation! Don`t trick yourself from the pictures of booking.com!

Room Tip: Choose a garden view room for more sleepy nights!

So, as the rest of the reviewers here, i was also very pleased with the hotel. Panos, a great guy, helpful, ready to give you directions and advice or just to make conversation. You can find out a great deal of things about the island from him.
The rooms look good and most important, clean. A bit small, but i am talking about the standard, i guess the junior is bigger.
The pool is also small, but it looks nice facing the garden, a good place to drink your coffee in the morning.
The most important is the location of Lido. It's in the center of Limenas, near the port, ferry and all the tavernas, but not on the same street so it's a bit more quiet for a good night sleep.
Also, at the beging of may, being a little cold in the night time, the heating was working inside so it's a big plus rather than to use the a/c for heat only when inside.
So from my point of view, it's a very good option price/service

A wonderful hotel. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Junior suite was just fabulous, huge and warm as it was march. Hotel beautifully decorated and all coordinated furnishings. Breakfast was enough to feed an army, lots of different items and graciously served. Well placed for harbour, shops and tavernas - even in march you will find places open. The lido and limenas have alot to offer and would highly recommend a break here.

A lovely hotel on a lovely, peaceful, green Greek Island. No tourist hordes,no high-rise hotels. The Lido is small but perfectly formed and well-situated for the town and Roman ruins. We stayed for 2 weeks and were comfortable and well-looked after. Room was standard with balcony-overlooking street. No problem with street noise-but dont pay extra for balcony at front as it looks over waste ground! Efficient air con & nice bathroom, though its many years since we had a Greek hotel where you couldn't put loo roll down the toilet! Highlight is the large garden at the back, full of trees and flowers and lots of comfy seating for relaxing. Pool is small but beautiful in an open atrium area.Hotel is boutique in styling. Its probably not a good hotel for kids as not much to do -apart from the adorable kitten (see photo) who works the tables and the soft-hearted Brits-we were no exception! Only reason we didnt give 5 stars was breakfast was really poor and we ended up going to the local pastry shop every day for breakfast. We explored the Roman ruins and some of the island/beaches by bus but service is limited and ends early evening. We hired a car for two days to visit the mountain villages-cheap and worth every penny. We can give you lots of recommendations/tips if you want to explore and find good places to eat-feel free to get in touch. If you like cats, go by bus (short journey from Thasos town) or car to lovely hill town of Panagia and the 'Blue Eyed Cat Art Gallery' run by Ian Wiles from Gateshead and his wife. You may meet the blue-eyed cat in person! www.ianwilesartworks.com. If you are a history/religious history buff its worth getting ferry back across to Kavala then bus to ruins of ancient Phillipi where a) Brutus & Cassius were defeated by Augustus and b) Apostle Paul preached and wrote his letters to the local Phillipians. Ruins only open til 3pm so get there in plenty of time! The custodian is a grumpy old Greek who cant wait to clang the gates shut on the dot of 3pm.Best food we had in Thasos town was at the outdoor souvlaki places-specialising in basically perfect souvlaki plus fries, cheap ice cold beer and the most gorgeous tsatsiki. Literally cheap as chips!

Room Tip: Room at back overlooking garden will be nicer than front-and quiet though noise not a problem for us...

Lido is a modern boutique hotel in Limenas, Thasos. From our arrival at the hotel to check in , Panos the hotel manager was really lovely and helpful. He gave us great recommendations on which beaches to visit (especially off the beaten track). We had a superior room which was massive! Rooms and hotel in general was very clean!!Our room was overlooking the street but it wasnt noisy at all.Breakfast was served in the garden which is really well looked after and when we visited there was a little kitten 'Molly' that wandered around being fed by everyone! My only suggestions for improvement is to change up the breakfast menu a bit (so you dont eat the same thing every day). If you are visiting Thasos and you want to support a local business which is run by people who are passionate about it then go to Lido. You wont regret it!

Room Tip: If you could upgrade to a superior room its worth it as the room is huge!

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in August. We travelled by car. A beautiful experience in the island. Everyday we went on diffrent beach, we liked very much Paradise beach, Psili Amos beach, Saliara Marble beach. Everyday mr. Panos, who is the manager of the hotel, gave us all the tips of what to visit, where to eat, where to get tanned. The rooms are small but nice. Very clean. We had a room with the view on the street. It was quiet enough to sleep at night with the window open. The bathroom is clean, big enough and has a shower cabin. The water pressure is very good and we had clean towels every day. The breakfast was a little boring. Every morning we had the same menu. But was ok for 5 day as long as we stayed. It worth every penny this hotel and i would recommend it for everyone who wants to have a pleasure stay in Thassos. We went ti visit also the natural pool Gyola. Is somekind hard to get there but it worth it. The view is spectaculat. TIP: DO NOT JUMP IN THE WATER WITHOUT SPECIAL SLEEPERS IN FOOT. There are sea urchins on the bottom and my boyfriend jumped on them and he got lots of needles in the foots.
Have a great hollyday !!! Thassos, Greece is fantastic!
