Previous reviews appeared very good, but sadly, we didn't find it as described.
Our studio faced a very busy road, apparently the main route for lorries and cars coming onto the island from the mainland ferries. The road also appeared to be a late night/early morning 'race track' for motorcyclists.
The whole complex was somewhat tired, shabby and dirty, in need of refurbishment.
The pool/bar area was good, no umbrellas, but plenty of sunbeds.
Carol, the owner's wife, was very helpful, lots of info on the local area, nothing too much trouble.
Lots of people were 'repeat' visitors and, as 'newcomers', we felt there was a kind of 'clique' atmosphere.

Well, I have just had quite a chuckle at the negative review posted by Berto. I am confused as to why you would book your holiday just because you are intrigued at previous reviews! Impressed, yes, but not intrigued! Either you are looking for a relaxing, affordable place to stay which offers typical Greek hospitality with a Scottish twist or you want an untypical experience at an upmarket place in the middle of the town. If you can afford untypical, upmarket - do it. Otherwise .....
Aberdeen offers a studio apartment on the outskirts of the town. It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk to the harbour and it’s well worth the effort. A regular bus service gives the opportunity to discover other parts of this beautiful island, or a car can be hired to get to places in more remote locations should you wish. And.... if you need advice, either Carol or Vasilis will happily give it. I have travelled quite extensively
to many parts of the world and have seen mismatched poolside furniture in a 5 star resort - so Aberdeen isn’t unique in that respect. It does not alter the quality of the welcome, the quality of the food served by Carol or the overall experience of the holiday. There are a number of returning guests for a reason. The main one being that they do not agree with the negativity expressed below. If you make an effort to join in - you will be embraced and if you choose not to, don’t complain that the place is cliquey ( not clicky).

This was a return visit after 4 years. Our grown up kids (who haven’t visited-yet) wonder why we go back! Simple! It was as if we had never been away. True friendship. Genuine Greek hospitality and intelligent discussion. We feel valued and welcomed and keep in touch with the hosts between visits. We’ve made special friends there. Jolly unpretentious guests share their stories. The Boss involves guests in his film night. If you can’t laugh and be laughed with, then don’t join in. These evenings are hilarious and are subtlety very clever. We came home refreshed, feeling mentally in a better place, very sad to leave and wanting more. Can’t wait to be back. Thank you to all the team. This is not Benidorm. No bingo. No karaoke. No posh brollies. No putting your towels on the sun beds at dawn. Just chill.

Where do I start ? I'm sure that if you're reading this review you are thinking about staying here . Well dont think just book it .
We had an amazing two weeks here . The studios are run by Carol who is originally from Aberdeen and has lived in Thassos for over 30 years . She washes, cooks , cleans , works the bar , listens to you , laughs alot and is married to Vasillas ( more later) !
The studios are like little bungalows . There are just 11 of them so it's never too busy round the pool or the bar. You have twin beds , wardrobe , dressing table & bedside cabinets. The safe is in the wardrobe €1 per day . The bathroom has a lovely shower & we always had plenty of hot water . There was a 2 ring hob but we never used it . Decent sized fridge . Our sheets & towels were changed 4 times during the two weeks . Bins emptied most days . Everywhere was so clean and well looked after.
We were in No 6 which was perfect as it was overlooking the pool & the bar. There are Olive Trees and various fruit trees around which creates a beautiful setting.
Loved the pool as even in the deep end I could reach the bottom. Pool open 8am til 8pm. Bar opened at 9am til the last guest staggered off to bed. Carol cooks breakfast & snacks which were loved by many of the guests.
Now Vasillas!!In other reviews they mention his thursday film night . I must admit we avoided it the 1st week but by the 2nd week my hubby and another guest had been talked into it . The Boss as Vasillas calls himself has one hell of an imagination and he takes it all so seriously. But my word we laughed so much it hurt . My advice is to just go with it .
We met some amazing people on this holiday , spent many hours chatting round the pool or having a drink at the bar . It was so chilled. Came home feeling totally recharged. If I go to Thassos again I will definitely stay at Aberdeen Studios . Huge thanks to Carol & family xx

My wife and I have just had another fabulous stay at the Aberdeen Studios. Once again nothing is too much trouble for Carol, Vasilis, Zoe and Cheryl, who all work hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Carol's breakfasts, lunches and legendary traditional Greek soups mean you do not have to leave the studios during the day and can while away the time on the sunbeds in a fabulous setting among the olive trees. There were a good mix of returnees and newbies staying and everyone got on well. One thing you can say about a stay at the Aberdeen is that it definitely is NOT cliquey. In the evening guests sit around the cosy bar sharing their stories about what they've done that day and what they plan for the rest of their holiday. Thassos Town was it's usual draw with a fabulous choice of restaurants and bars - you really cannot go wrong. With regard to the negative comment below, I really cannot imagine what kind of person would write such a review. One can only assume the person has had a sense-of-humour by-pass. Vasilis (The Boss) has a great personality and is kindness personified to his guests and if he appears 'overbearing' to any delicate souls, a few minutes in his company would soon change your attitude. As for the 'old people's home' barb about everyone sat in a circle discussing nothing in particular, well... that comment says more about the reviewer than the people they were holidaying with. Don't be put off by the naysayers who appear to take a delight in moaning. The Aberdeen is a great place to stay for your Thassos holiday. Once again... we will be back.
