Just spent 11 days at this Hotel, the location is wonderfull, just a few minutes walk to the beach. The Pools are circular ,plenty of room for all.Our Room overlooked the sea, stay in blocks 2,3,4,5 to gain most benefit of the Sunshine. We stayed on a B& B basis and the breakfast was buffet style to suite all palates very good indeed.
The staff were all friendly & efficient, the housekeeping was of a high standard, clean bedding etc on request.
Ideal place for Families & others that wish to relax.

Room Tip: Stay on 3rd floor ,blocks 2,3,4 &5.

The location, buildings and pools make this a fabulous place, a little piece of paradise. Quiet with stunning views, awesome walks on the wooden pathways over the natural reserve (turn to your right and try the larger part of the reserve too, you have water, ducks - an awesome place for jogging). Also the place is mainly visited by Portuguese tourists in season, which makes you really feel on holidays, if you see what I mean.

Now, as some people said, the place has gone through a difficult period, it was closed for a while and has just been re-opened in June 2013 with a new crew, and new investors injecting money at the moment. So, not everything is perfect, in terms of a true "5 star service", certainly the food was a little disappointing (I would recommend not to go for the full-board option personally, or not yet), but the location more than compensates for this!

You do need a car unless you want to spend all the time at the pools or beach. There's some lovely Portuguese restaurants in the area, ask at reception.

If you look for party, city, lots of shops and restaurants, this is not for you.

Room Tip: Make sure you take a room or suite that is not in building one, if you can. This is where reception, bar, breakfast and restaurant are located, with live music in the evening (we listened to some great jazz), so I imagine it will be a little less tranquil. Buildings 2 to 4 should be best for spectacular sea views (we were in 4). Also try and get the 4th floor for the best views!

If you're reading this I guess you are undecided as to whether this is the right hotel for you, as you've probably read good and bad reviews. I'll give you a completely impartial review having just spent a few days there.
We booked a last minute 5 nights at a relatively cheap price not expecting a huge amount, but it was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Upon check in the receptionist showed us where the restaurant & bars are & couldn't have been friendlier.
The junior suite was fabulous. Huge living area with a bedroom separated by a 'revolving' screen, nice bathroom and a separate hallway with tonnes of wardrobe space & safe. Super comfy bed, great air con in the living area and another in the bedroom.
Breakfast is served at a decent holiday time (7-10.30) and lots of choice. All the waiting staff are super friendly & speak fantastic English.
Plenty of sunbeds and parasols around the swimming pools & didn't feel busy at all.
The walk to the wonderful beach is via a purpose built boardwalk and is a lovely few minutes stroll.
However... A word of warning that the hotel is a f miles to the west of Albufeira (thankfully!) In Guia so hiring a car is recommended. There are lots of restaurants about a mile or so from the complex. Rest assured if you do, there is plenty of free car parking in the underground car parks at the hotel (a bonus as that means they are parked out of the sun!).
WiFi sadly didn't reach the rooms although easily accessed in the communal areas and around the pool.
Apart from that I'm finding it pretty hard to find any other 'negatives' so if you're looking for a quiet, trouble free holiday by the pool or beach... this is it!

Room Tip: We asked for a room in a quiet part of the hotel & were given exactly that in block 3. Massive balcony. If you're overlooking the jazz bar in guessing it would be pretty noisy!

We stayed at this hotel in August 2013. We are a family with 2 children (7 and 2 years old) and have travelled many times variety of destinations however this was our first time to Portugal. The positives about this hotel are its proximity to the beach, its quite remote (which we liked) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pools were not the 'normal' colour but we didn't mind this. There were 9 of them and they were generally warm and welcoming. Sun beds were easy to come by even though we were told the hotel was full during our stay. You could change your towels daily if you wished. We had a junior suite which was extremely spacious although the bathroom was small and had no bath so we made do with just a shower. This is a very modern looking hotel and they have tried to combine this modern style with its natural surroundings.

The nagatives for us however were

1. We arrived late at night and the balcony doors were slightly open. We tried to lock them but the catches were not working. We reported this immediately only to be told ALL the rooms were like this. From a security aspect we were uncomfortable with this as the children may open a door without us knowing or indeed an intruder could have easily accessed the room without difficulty putting our insurance and valuables at risk. The Maids would also always leave the doors slightly open after cleaning. An 'engineer' turned up on day 3 to fix the doors. This just about resovled the problem for a couple of days at best.

2. The food - the selection was narrow and there was no show cooking. The quality of meat was quite disappointing and there was not the variety you would expect from a 4 star hotel in the Canaries. Its was chips most nights for the children as there was little in the way of options.

3. There was no spa or gym despite this being advertised by low cost holidays. Not sure how a hotel can be 5 star without these features. This was an extremely important part of our holiday as my wife enjoys time in a spa and I wanted to use the gym. This was also a primary reason us choosing this hotel for our summer vacation and having neither of these facilities available was very very disappointing. There was also no indoor pool. Not a issue for us given tge weather but worth noting.

4. No real entertainment. A live singer at dinner was the extent of the so called entertainment. This was nice but not entertaining.

5. The air con had a mind of its own at times but we mananged to get it to work as you would expect by day 6!!

6. The pool toilets were not clean

7. The transfer booked through low cost from the airport to the hotel was fine however the return journey was a nightmare. We tried for 2 days prior to our departure to confirm it as requested by the sub contracted Greenbus. The number didn't connect however we managed to confirm it online. The the day of departure the transfer didn't arrive so we almost missed our flight home.

In summary do your research. This is generally a nice hotel, not 5 star but a nice relaxing break if thats what your after in a remote location. It woukd have been far more comfortable if our balacony doors and windows weren't broken and we had tge facilities promised by the travel agent when we booked.
