This is a lovely hotel which is built on a hillside with the main building at the top of the hill and it's bungalows cascading down the hill in tiers below it so if you have any walking issues you may be better off requesting a room in the main building. The hotel runs a shuttle service down to the local beach and the main road where you can catch one of the regular buses to Skiathos town or the other direction if you wish to the lovely Koukounaries beach.
The staff here are very friendly and nothing semed too much trouble and always smile and say hello.
There isn't much in the local area , just a couple of restaraunts and bars but the local bus runs quite late or taxis are plentiful if you want to go in to Skiathos towm for a livlier night out but if you are looking for a nice, chilled hotel with nice food then this could be what you are looking for.

The Skiathos Blu hotel was a reasonable hotel with several nice features, such as large pool, plenty of sun beds, reliable food. The cleaners came daily and did a great job cleaning the rooms, which is crucial given that toilet tissue cannot be flushed. However there were a number of details that were not present in booking material and information. All the rooms outside the main hotel (bungalows) require using steep and numerous steps, and if you're half way down then it's a laborious walk to the pool and the beach. The porter staff declined to help carry our suitcases down to the room and every trip to reception presented issues, usually lack of knowledge about basic tasks like paying food bill, checking out and general hotel queries. Hotel guests also have to pay to use beach loungers, despite being operated by 'part of the hotel', there is a tennis court, although reception claimed this didn't belong to the hotel, despite being on their grounds, and advertised on the Tui website. The room aircon was unreliable when in heating mode (necessary in early season) and often never turned on. There was rarely hot water in the shower before midday. The pool is not heated, therefore in early season it is unpleasantly cold. The pool bar never seemed to have any drinks on the menu, there was no beer for the first 3 days. There isn't a huge amount to do at the hotel, so visiting Skiathos town is a must. There is minimal entertainment in the hotel in the evenings (1 night a week). It provides reasonable value off-peak however it does not justify peak pricing.

Room tip: Bungalows with garden view offer best privacy

My wife and I have just returned from a week's holiday in a bungalow at this hotel. The hotel is located on a high point of the island and has a very pretty panoramic view. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. We were allocated a bungalow that required us to negotiate about 50 steps to reach but were offered assistance with our luggage. We were at the upper level of bungalows while others stretched below us with well over 150 steps from them to hotel facilities. I am in my mid sixties, and not the fittest, but I managed to get up and down reasonably well. However, anyone considering this type of holiday need to be aware of this potential difficulty and I did not see any adaptations for wheelchair users.
The bungalow itself was well furnished and equipped, including tea/coffee making facilities, TV, safe and air conditioning. One point for hotel manager to consider is spare blankets in the rooms, particularly early and late season when nights can be cold, for those people who are not happy using the air conditioning. We were a little disappointed with the view from our balcony i.e. the bungalow below us and lots of trees. However, on checking our paperwork we got what was specified, a garden view!
We were on half board and found the quality and variety of meals to be very good.
During the majority of the day the hotel offered a taxi service up and down from the main road to the hotel.
Above all the staff service was second to none. The cleaner cleaned the bungalow and made the beds every day, changed sheets and towels every other day and was flexible to work around our needs. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The waiters and bar staff went about always smiling and were very efficient and helpful. The hotel manager, Mr. Kipourous, went out of his way to engage with customers and make sure they are happy. When I mentioned to him one evening before dinner that we had had cold showers he sent someone immediately to investigate. By the end of our meal it was sorted and no more cold showers!!
All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

Hotel is up a steep road. Only small buses can get up so your luggage arrives separately by luggage truck but not a problem. Received a warm welcome on arrival with a drink. We stayed in a Suite in the main building. Large bedroom and lounge area with TV. Bathroom disappointing. Very small. Over the bath shower with shower curtain. Room is very large and bathroom could easily have been much bigger with shower cubicle without spoiling the rest. We had a big balcony with sea views and hill views. Two sun loungers and table and four chairs. It got the sun all day.Lovely!
The rest of the hotel is very well furnished.
Staff are lovely and very friendly but some seemed inexperienced. It was after all the first week of the season and I think the service will get better as time goes on. We often had a long wait for a drink in the dining room and they were very quick to take your plate away. Often before you had finished chewing your last mouthful! The dining room and bar area were freezing cold every evening. Always needed a jacket and as a result food was never hot. It was cold outside at night but it was colder inside. Rooms aircon was also a heater so room was warm. Evening entertainment didn't start until weekend we left.
The steps to the beach are a problem to most. Funicular hasn't worked for a long time judging by the rust. Shuttle bus worked all day apart from siesta time and we didn't have to wait long for it.
The bungalows looked small. Still busy painting some of them and others looked abandoned. Stay in the hotel if you can.
Not much around the hotel apart from a couple of tavernas (just opening now) and a supermarket.
Bus to Skiathos Town is very good. Only one route around south and east of island. Only €1.60 each from stop 13 into town. Lots of bars, restaurants and cafes there.
Skiathos is beautiful. Wish we had visited later in summer when everything's up and running but still enjoyed the break and had a lovely time.

We booked this hotel through TUI about 9 months in advance and it was worth the wait. The hotel is very new and modern feel as soon as you arrive, we was greeted with a glass of prosecco on arrival which was nice considering our flight was delayed by 2 hours! The pool area is fantastic, always clean and there was always sunbeds available and even some comfy style chairs. The food and the drink at the pool bar was good however quite pricey, €5 for a local beer which is about €2 in the town. The guy working behind the pool bar (cannot remember his name) was brilliant he was always smiling and cracked a joke to us every day and was always very helpful. As for our room we booked a suite as we wanted to have sunbeds on our balcony, the view into the mountains was nice although could only see part of the sea. The room was very big and the bed was comfy, cleaned most days and the cleaner even folded up our clothes! Our air conditioning unit did make a rattling noise which i had to fix with a chair as we were staying during middle of august, it was needed throughout the night. The bathroom was quite small however it was acceptable for what we needed. Although we were half board we tend to like to eat out to experience different restaurants, however we did eat a few times in the restaurant and the food was lovely, there was a wide variety and different cuisines each night and even catered for my fussy eating girlfriend! The cocktail bar opened about 6pm and i must say the barman who made the cocktails was brilliant, he made some of the best cocktails i have ever had so a must try! Quite pricey at €10 each however it is what you would expect. You can also get house bottles of wine for €10 each, there is a drinks package which you can buy for €240 and you get €300 worth of drinks which i would recommend doing if you tend to stay in the hotel most of the week. The only thing we did not really like about our stay here was the location which we should of probably checked before we booked, the hotel is a good 20 minute drive from Skiathos town and if you are like us and like to experience a bit of the nightlife for eating etc then this might be a problem, there is an hourly bus and water taxi however it felt like a lot of time was spent travelling just to get to the town and back. The hill up to the hotel is very steep (i wouldn't recommend carrying 6 shopping up it in 28 degrees heat) although there was someone who could drive you up and down however this was about once an hour and never really there when we needed to go up or down the hill, there was a lift also which was broken which can take you down to the beach which would of been ideal instead of walking down/up 350 steps to/from the beach! We eventually hired a quad bike from the town for a few days for a reasonable price which was good to explore the other parts of the island and this was very useful if you want to avoid walking up the hill/steps so would recommend, the hotel had no problem with it being left parked in the car park. The beach at the bottom of the hotel is ok however it is completely filled with greek students! Also the staff at the beach bar are extremely rude although they are different from the hotel itself, but is owned by Skiathos blu. The best thing about the beach was the water taxi to get away from it :) there was also a very lack of entertainment at the hotel, there was a live music act on Wednesday evenings which was ok, and a greek night on sundays which we missed... that is all the entertainment for the week so the evenings can get quite boring around the hotel hence why people liked to go into skiathos town. The views and scenery from the hotel is fantastic, probably some of the best views of skiathos. The reception staff also were helpful and polite and always answered our questions if we had any. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here at skiathos blu, cannot fault any of the staff or facilities, however the location was not ideal for us and we would probably choose somewhere nearer to the town if we came back.

Room tip: Don't book a bungalow unless you are happy walking up and down a lot of steps to the main building.
