Description: In the past eight years, the Chef Petros Pikoylas, has turned the place into an Art Restaurant of unique ambiance. Its Mediterranean cuisine is renowned for its creative "touch" in Greek flavors, herbs, aromas and magnificently worked sauces. Fresh products like fish, meat and vegetables, in the hands of the Chef are transformed into wonderful and delicious plates. Shrimps a la chef, fish fillet with crayfish sauce, lamb chops with pesto sauce, beef steak stuffed artichokes and spinach salad, are some of the famous plates of the menu. The friendly and quality service, the dignified wine list as well as the specially good house wine, accompanied with jazz and easy listening music, the traditional narrows, and the honorable relation between price and product, contribute to make you enjoy a unique dinner experience in Skiathos.

“Pleasant restaraunt”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

We always make a point of visiting this restaurant each time we go to Skiathos, and always enjoy our meals there. Slightly different menus to other taverna's but we rarely have a poor meal anywhere in Skiathos town. They are all excellent.

“Great food, nice setting”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

It never ceases to amaze me how the greeks can turn a narrow side street (no traffic) into a beautiful restaurant area, and 1901 succeeds even better than most. Combine this with good food, excellent service and reasonable prices and you can understand why it is popular.

“A tad more expensive than most but worth it”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

A party of four had a wonderful meal here.

Between us we had a Greek salad to share, which I have to say looked rather small and was rather mean on the cheese, so did not set the tone right for the evening. However, the main course saved the day.

Three of us had lamb chops with pesto and my friend had fish. Each of us agreed that it was one of the best meals we had had during our holiday.

For 2 beers, a large carafe of red wine and a carafe of rose cost 100 euro. That may sound expensive, but the quality of the wine was amazing.

Given the combination of the setting, food and wine made for a wonderful evening

“Tried to resist a return visit but couldn't !”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

This was our third visit to Skiathos and there are so many places to try we thought we could resist the lure of a return visit to 1901 but we were drawn back. The setting is beautiful with the carefully restored stone building, which is lit up at night, providing the backdrop. It is another cobbled street in the old part of town behind the Old Port. We'd has a salad lunch so skipped the customary Greek salad and went straight to the main courses of pork filet in a leek and wine sauce and Bekti a la Catiatore (or something similar-tender tasty meat patties described as burgers on the menu but don't be deterred by this!) which came in a lovely mushroom and bacon sauce. Both dishes were served with chips, rice and a little bit of veg. The presentation, flavours and quality of the food were all very good. Worth a mention is the bread which is particularly good and the delicious house wine which is fantastic value for such good wine. We're glad we made this the last meal of the week although we were driven inside by a drop of rain. The inside of the restaurant, which we'd never experienced before, was lovely too with a traditional vaulted ceiling and wooden floor. Food eaten by other diners also looked stunning and no doubt we'll be tempted to visit 1901 again the next time we're in Skiathos.
