We spent a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours sat at a table in the small, cobbled square outside ‘Alexandros’ which is situated in the heart of the town and away from the waterfront. The venue quickly became full with both fellow tourists and locals and the atmosphere bustled even before the guitar playing and singing commenced!
The food is basic but fresh and authentic. The stuffed vegetables were delicious with bread and dipping oil and a dish of warm butter beans with olive oil, garlic and spinach was really excellent. With a small jug of house white, a simple but delightful supper for two was less than 25 Euros and the bill came with complimentary ouzo.
The service was a little on the surly side but, nonetheless, I would highly recommend ‘Alexandros’ over the homogenous, waterfront restaurants in Skiathos town.
Venue opens from 6:30pm only and booking recommended.
