“Right by ferry terminal. Amazing breakfast included with your room”
Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

In my experience you will need to rent a car on Samos which makes this hotel a good place to stay. There in no beach in walking distance but you can drive to Psili Amos or Endless Beach easily. The rooms are small (think cruise cabin small) and the bathroom tiny but completely usable. The pool is small and shallow and my kids found it boring but they do have one. The rooms were clean although one of our rooms was clearly a smoked in recently room. The best thing about the hotel was the free breakfast. It was truly exceptional. Delicious eggs, bacon, fruit, cheeses, tomatoes, pastries and the best Greek yogurt I've ever tasted. Also the Samos local honey us wonderful.

For our next visit we will likely stay in one of the beach hotels and dream about the Hotel Samos breakfast.

We were led to believe that the hotel is situated right in front of the ferry arrival and departure point. This was true of our arrival, but we found out at the very last minute (by accident) that the ferries now depart from the opposite side of the bay - a good 45 minutes walking from the hotel. This led to us nearly missing our ferry. The hotel is clean but we found the reception staff to be a little unfriendly and not overly helpful. The pool deck was closed for renovations and the restaurant was not operational - in MAY - we had of course not been informed of this in advance. Overall, although very inexpensive, Samos Hotel was a bit dissapointing.

Nice 2 star hotel. Good location Under 1 km walk to the central bus station. Beach nearby is not so picturesque. Buffet breakfast is satisfactory- Yogurt cereals breads spreads eggs bacon cold cuts,a fruit, coffee tea. Only negative is people smoke in the rooms, hallways and indoor dining area. And the hotel allows this as I witnessed in the indoor dining area.

We stayed 3 nights at the Samos hotel in April 2013. The staff were friendly and helpful, and all the public areas were clean and well appointed. Our room was quite small, which is usual in Greece, and the ensuite shower room extremely small - difficult to have a shower without soaking the whole area. However, we appreciated the little balcony overlooking the sea. We found the soundproofing between rooms insufficient, as we were kept awake by the person in the next room watching TV until 2 am.

The breakfast buffet provides plenty of choice, and you can eat as much as you want. But we felt that some of the ingredients were not always of the highest quality. The orange juice tasted as if reconstituted from powder, and the coffee certainly didn't taste much like coffee as we know it.

The hotel is well situated - it's only a few minutes from the ferry port, which didn't disturb us at all, and close to the centre of town, with many restaurants, tavernas and shops. It's about 15 minutes walk from the bus station, where you can catch regular buses to most places on the island, for a very reasonable price. All in all, at 60 euros a night for a double room including breakfasts, we felt that this was good value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view, on a high floor (to minimize any road noise).

This hotel has the best location in the town, steps from the ferry port.

walking into the hotel you would think that it's very nice. A great lobby bar along with a great lobby. the rooms on the other hand are a different story. All rooms are circa 1950 with decor & televisions to match. if you are average size don't even try to have a shower in their shower as it is near impossible due to the size.

The best thing about this hotel however is the free breakfast that comes along with the room. Try the croissants and ask for a capicuino, absolutely spectacular.

Enjoy your pleasantly relaxing stay in Samos, I know I sure did.

I had a very mixed experience of the Samos Hotel.

The rooms are basic and fairly clean, with comfy beds (although apparently no option of a true double, as opposed to twin beds pushed together). There was no kettle, no safe, not even a folder of hotel information in the room. I had two different rooms, and in neither one was it possible to have a shower without holding the shower head, as the wall attachments were broken. The hotel wifi was appalling, with a connection barely able to cope with checking email at busy times (i.e. all mornings & evenings). I would honestly prefer a hotel to not offer wifi than to promise it, and then provide such an unreliable service.

Breakfast was an extensive buffet (mostly cold) with veggie options including: cake, biscuits, bread/toast/croissants, jam, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, greek salad, and eggs. It didn't vary much from day to day, but there was enough choice.

I was travelling to Samos for a conference (perhaps not the most typical reason to visit a Greek island!) so I really needed to get a good night's sleep. The staff were happy to move me to a quieter wing when the loud music from the bar was keeping me awake - but I'd be hesitant to book here during a busier period, as it really was very loud on several nights.

The chairs and tables on the balcony were filthy, I had to wash mine before I could sit outside. Perhaps this was an off-season thing (it was late March) but as the weather was plenty nice enough to use the balcony, it was unfortunate.

I also had experience of the hotel's conference room (some miles away, in a beautiful hillside location, with even worse wifi connection than the hotel) and their catering service (very variable in terms of veggie provision - I got quickly bored of feta sandwiches).

Room Tip: The side wing (on the right as you enter the hotel) is quieter than the central rooms above the bar.

The staff was kind, helpful. Breakfast was very good ... hot continental , salad, cereal, fruit, sweets ... only the cofee was instant coffee. Rooms were very dark, half of light bulbs did not work, bathroom was small - the shower was separated from the toilet with a synthetic curtain - so the water was all over the bathroom after taking a shower. Seemed like the water taps had not been decalsified for ages as none of the taps had normal flowing water.
The hotel has some views towards the bay, but the most are towards an inner yard. The rooms have bad sound isolation - you can hear everything that is going on in the lobby.
