San Miguel Park & Esmeralda Mar Apartments
Reviewed October 10, 2012

I have just recently got back from a 2 week all inclusive holiday from here, and i wont be returning in a hurry not just to this hotel but to the Island itself. When arriving at the airport, we were unknown as to where to get our coach to take us to the hotel - in the end we manged to find it and we were soon on our way... First impressions of the hotel were very good and positive but once you get settled in and become accustom to it, it's not really that lovely. The price for which we paid was reasonable, so can't complain too much. The food was bearable and very nice at first but then became very repetitive but was still nice - breakfast was the best!! You can have ice-creams throughout the day and they were very nice, and i couldn't resist eating them.... Hotel was fairly clean and the rooms were always clean. The hotel itself is very back dated, does need a huge re-vamp!! The entertainment was ridiculous and not bearable to watch!! Every time he came on the majority of the guests would resume to their hotel room. This area is a very quite area where you are secluded from everything, the buses are not on a regular basis and taxi's are a fortune you are literally in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful part of Ibiza but not a lot going on and became very boring. Ibiza itself is very expensive for everything, just simple things like getting cigarettes in San Miguel is a nightmare!! The beach is a 5 minute walk and is very nice - we hired out a pedilo and that was very much enjoyable. Most of the staff in the hotel were lovely, but some very arrogant and rude.

This is an ideal holiday if it's just for completely chilling out and sun bathing and if you didn't want to do much for the nightlife, not ideal for young people or people who have kids.

Also the Germans made our holiday un-bearable at times due to their out of control children and their rudeness...

Stayed here all inclusive for a week with my partner and another couple. The deal that we originally played for was due to give us a one bed apartment with one couple using the sofa bed, but we decided to upgrade to a two bedroom apartment. The agency we were using tried to charge us 250GBP but a quick email fired off to the hotel directly meant that we could get the upgrade for a more respectable 140euros. The upgrade put is in the top part of the complex near the smaller pool and bar. I''ll reiterate what other people have written and say that if you struggle to walk up steep hills then you need to say something when you book as the climb up to this part of the complex is extremely steep. Our room was definitely alot better than we expected for the money we paid. The food at the restaurant was nice, as with other reasonably priced all inclusive buffet restaurants, the choice isn't immense, but there was always something for everyone. An added bonus for the all inclusivers is the free drinks (beer, coke or sprite) you can get down at the beach bar that is also owned by the hotel. Yes, some might moan that the sizes of drinks that you get down at this bar are too small and that sometimes you have to wait while a paying customer is served before you, but seriously? I'd rather that then having to walk back to the hotel for my freebie or having to hand over the euros. There is also the opportunity to have a meal down at the beach bar on set nights, which was a nice change. We also took advantage of the free use of cycles, tennis courts and the free 30min kayak in the sea. I would ape the other comments with regards to the area being quiet, and I'd recommend what we did and hire a car for the duration. No part of Ibiza is ever to far away to drive, and we managed to see quite a bit of it. All in all, each and everyone of us came back happy from our holiday with the full Intention of doing it all again next year. 4 people travelled between the ages of 30 and 40.

when arriving at the airport there was no one to tell you which bus to get, and not clearly signed ,it took 1hour to get to the hotel. The hotel was clean and basic ,we arrived on friday 0200 in the morning ,but still had to check out the following thursday at 11.30 ? when our flight was 0120 in the early hours? The food was good.
It was only a 10 min walk to the beach if you wanted a sun lounger it cost you 10 euros for the day which for 7 days is 70 euros? So we got beach matts cheeper?I would have loved to have gone clubbing just for 1 night but it was so exspensive 24 euros for 2 drinks ?Then 50 euros to get in the clubs and taxis home as the clubs where all over the place? We spent £500 in just a week thats half board that mostly was the drinks.

Over all if you want a holiday with nothing to do just chill then this is your place to go the hotel is massive but it's up a very very very steep hill to the rooms there's is 2 pools both very nice but the entertainment is down at bottom
Pool
It's awful and music was the same cd played over and over again the food is ideal and very nice to eat the drinks on offer are good cocktails on a nighttime so very worth all inclusive . Rooms are old and basic need updating but apart from that they where well cleaned and looked after lots of cats in this complex I you are arriving before 2 pm on your arrival day they will charge you am extra day so
Be careful a they don't tell you till 4 days in to your stay with a little note under the door it's worth keeping your room on he say you leave if you have a late flight. It's only 30 euros and that's till 11pm and you get to use your all inclusive up till that time

After reading a few reviews I was slightly apprehensive. We were travelling with our 9 month old daughter and were expecting to struggle with the steps. There were a few steps up from the street to the main area with the bar/restaurant and pool but all of the other steps to the rooms had slopes next to them which made things a lot easier.

The pool was lovely, it was close to the bar and it had a separate baby pool which was excellent for us.

The room was basic but clean and the air con could be left on all day if you wanted (You didn't have to leave your keys in the wall for it to stay on) Rooms were cleaned every day except Sunday which wasn't a problem for us.

Entertainment was ok, while we were there, there was a quiz, discos, bingo, bird show and a really funny singer. The resort is very quiet. Literally 3 bars and two shops so if you want somewhere with lots of nightlife this is not the resort for you.

Food was fine, admittedly there was a lot of fish but it was all fresh and there was always something to eat. Typical examples were paella, chips, pasta, fried chicken, fried cod, there were always healthy rices, salads and fruits. Ice cream was available all day and there was a huge variety of lollies, ice cream sandwiches and cornetto type ice creams.

The hotel is paired with a hotel further up the hill. This one has lots of steps, it almost killed us carrying a pram up to look at the pool. The pool was ok but we preferred the atmosphere at the bottom pool.

Overall we had an excellent holiday and would probably go back if we found a good deal online!

Overall we had an excellent holiday, maybe helped by the all inclusive cocktails!

just returned from 10 day stay . Really enjoyed it . Room was great . Lovely & clean . Food wasnt too bad not the best we ve had but edible.Staff wernt very quick at refilling the food trays Very low key resort but very picturesque. Staff are very laid back & were quite often telling you to wait 5 mins when you were standing waiting to be served at bar as they busy !!! But i think its just the way they are. The top bar was lovely very peaceful and manned by a young barman Eric who was always chirpy Pity on our 3 rd last night they closed this bar at 6.30 as they were scaling down for the end of the season ( even though the hotel was full !! ) You could use the bar on the beach for a drink of beer or soft drink. However i must say we felt like 2nd class citizens as you were given a voucher from the hotel & the staff made you stand at a certain section of the bar . You had to wait until they had served the "paying customer " & then you were served in a plastic cup whilst " paying customers " were given glasses. It was handy though to be able to get a drink whilst on the beach . Stephano the entertainment team leader was a great laugh He made our holiday Pity he is moving on at the end of the season . This resort is ideal if you just want a lazy relaxing holiday as there isnt much too do We did travel to Ibiza by bus & San Antonio by Aqua bus But the timetables are very limited & a bit frustrating

Room Tip: if you upgrade to a sea view room be prepared for a steep walk . Pool view rooms get sun in afternoo...

Booked this hotel last minute and did have reservations after reading reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived late/early morning and were greeted by a member of the staff. The rooms were basic we had an 1 bedroom apartment for myself, husband and 2 kids but they were very clean. The rooms were cleaned everyday (except Sunday) and there was always clean towels if we needed them. We found the food was fine and having 2 fussy kids they tried a lot of things which I thought they would never touch. The staff were always at hand cleaning tables and we found them very friendly. This is the first All Inclusive my children have been on and they loved the fact they could get their own drinks and ice creams/lollies. The lower pool was great and plenty going for the kids the upper pool was very deep and not much room to move about. The setting of the hotel was stunning the view from the pool was pine trees and the sun setting over the mountains/hills. The entertainment for the kids was great (thanks to Stefano) and entertainment was that of an All Inclusive quizes, bingo and outside entertainers coming in, we particularly enjoyed the Falmenco Dancers. As I said before this was our first All Inclusive as a family, my husband and I thought that this has been the best holiday so far we were able to relax as the kids were entertained and may lots of new friends.

Room Tip: As this was at quieter resort we hired a car for 5 day and it was well worth the money and a must as...
