Pure luxury. From the bogey to take you around to the marigold garlands on welcome. Welcome coconut water and much more. There is a free bicycle ride for first 30 minutes and $10/hour thereafter. The private beach is nice. Nothing much to do at night. Basically just chill and dine in style. Food is expensive about $50 for two without drinks.

If you have the money, this is the place for you in South Goa. The property is huge and stay is relaxing. The BMW 5 series airport transfer alone is worth the stay.

Stayed over the weekend at Leela with my company. It was quite a nice and pleasant experience. The staff was nice and very helpful. Only downside I felt was that the place is quite far from main city and the night clubs. There is a nice restaurant outside the hotel fishermen wharf
Overall it was a nice experience even though I could not go out as it was raining like crazy. Must stay

Expectations obviously run high when you book a vacation at a 5 star (Preferred) hotel; and Leela Goa would not disappoint you rather leave you awestruck.

Our package included airport transfers (To & Fro) along with all meals. We emailed them our flight arrival & departure time and that was it; rest all was taken care off by the staff at Leela; not once did we have to ask for anything; it was all provided and planned to perfection by the outstanding staff at Leela.

The moment we got out of the Goa airport; we were greeted by the Leela staff at the airport. Our luggage was taken care off and we were escorted to our chauffeur driven BMW. The chauffeur greeted with a broad smile; asked us if we were comfortable; informed us that it would take approx an hour to reach the hotel and provided cologne tissues and bottled mineral water to us. He even took care of the temperature of the interiors of the car and asked us if we wanted it to be brought down or raised higher.

As soon as you arrive at the main entrance at Leela; you are greeted by the entrance staff with garlands of flowers and a traditional hindu teeka (red kumkum powder) applied on the forehead which signifies enlightenment & purity. Once the staff escorts you inside; they handover a sweet coconut welcome drink which is quite refreshing.

We were welcomed by Mr. Mohnish who took care of our check-in formalities; 3 signatures a photo-id proof while you sip on your coconut water and snap; you are done. We were then asked by Mr. Kaushik (Concierge) who willingly escorted us through the vast property and numerous amenities at the hotel. The vastness and the care taken to maintain this property itself would leave you awestruck.

The lobby is huge and sits the concierge, front desk, Yali lounge (bar cum sit out area), entrance to the business center and the restaurant named "The Restaurant" (where all meals are served).

Water, lagoons, fishes, birds, the beach, the lush greenery form the characteristics of the hotel. There are water bodies (lagoons) all over the place; birds, fishes, frogs, snakes thrive in them; lotus flowers grow naturally. With so many water bodies and natural environment around; there is still not a weed overgrown. The grass is cleanly cut; the flowers bloom; lotus roots spread; the borders of the lagoon act like natural minerals for tiny colorful flowers with bees humming over them for nectar and then there are the birds chirping. You realize you are in paradise.

The Rooms:

The rooms are spacious; stocked with mineral water (complimentary), mini-bar,snacks (chargeable) and each room kisses the water lagoons; so if you enter the gallery of your room; you are right in middle of mother nature; but yet appropriately away from snakes, insects etc. (If that raises a doubt in your mind that this place sounds like a mosquito haven; the answer is NO; although a few mosquitoes exist; I wasn't bitten during my stay.). The bed and pillows are so soft and comforting; they almost embrace you and engulf you in deep quiet sleep. The rooms also feature a Sony LCD TV with a Sony Blu-ray/DVD Player (The concierge has some fantastic movies to choose from; if you are an avid movie buff carry some of your best collections).

The washroom are bejeweled with premium German fittings (Schneider, Hans Grohe, Hettich etc). It also adorns a bath-tub, glass cube shower area, electronically controlled blinds. The rooms are luxurious & comforting.

The Restaurant:

Food is one of the main criteria which makes or breaks a holiday experience; and the chefs at Leela have set high-standards. The buffet meals are enormously huge with wide array of dishes for breakfast, lunch & dinners. The cuisine ranges from Indian, Oriental, Mexican, Fusion etc. Each element on the dish is so carefully treated and the effort taken by the chefs behind the scene is evident by the first spoonful of bursts of true flavours in your mouth.

The desserts are outstandingly beautiful, carefully prepared and the attention to detail is worth noticing. And no there is not only 1 - 2 desserts there are atleast 10-15 to choose from & each one is so beautifully made and presented that they are no less than creation of art by the chefs at Leela. Especially the dessert chef(s) are true artists. The presentation on each piece of pastry, chocolate ganache, barfis are so elaborate and so noticeably beautiful that it is difficult to accept they are suppose to melt in your mouth.

The Amenities:

The external amenities feature a large pool area with a man-made mini waterfall (There is is a small tunnel below the waterfall rock in the pool which is fully accessible, safe and clean to explore from within the swimming pool). The golf course adds to the lush green landscape of the hotel adjacent to the private beach. The private beach is obviously non-crowded; but could have been cleaner.
Stray bottles, cans and plastic bags are a shame on the beach and reminds us of being Indians.

Apart from the above amenities there is a kids corner (loaded with story books, games, tv, , kids swimming pool etc.),the gym, the spa, nursery, herbal & spice gardens, Lounge area, quiet library, pool table, table tennis, The Riverside (Italian Restaurant), Susegado (Goan Shack restaurant: closed during monsoons).

A few areas of improvement:

- The washrooms lack a spray faucet when nature calls.
- The airport drop was by a huge bus (with barely running air-conditioner) and was suffocating. "It was like a cruel end to the marvelous journey which began right from the airport pickup."

Special accolades:

Although all the staff right from housekeeping, general staff, front-desk, concierge, restaurant, chefs are so courteous and welcome you with a smile; we could recollect only a few names mentioned here below who were some of them who created the WOW experience:

Mr. Mohnish @ Reception
Mr. Kaushik @ Concierge
Mr. Gyandeep @ The Restaurant
Mr. Arvind @ Luggage drop & buggy
Mr. Tuslidas (or Vishwasrao, confused with the name) @ The buggy service
Mr. Shawn @ Chef at the restaurant.

Special Special Very Special compliments to all the chefs behind the scenes to come up with those elaborate melting dishes day-in day-out.

At Leela you will never feel a dull moment; although it is Susegado it is still thriving with energy. It comes true on the phrase "Atithi Devo Bhavo" (Guest is God).

Awesome Experience!!!! We are coming back soon!!!!

Room Tip: The Lagoon Terrace rooms are embraced within the laps of nature. With these rooms surrounded by wate...

We stayed here as part of an 18 day tour of India for my beloved's 50th birthday celebrations.
Will remain my favourite holiday for many years to come.
Loved the rooms set away from the main building across water and hidden from one another.
Loved the breakfast - hot and spicy on offer.
Golf course is a tad unnecssary but the pool and surrounding facilities were second to none.
And when you tire of that - wander a few more steps onto the beach and lunch at a "shack" where squid tika and elephant beer takes some beating - anywhere in the world.
Add in the fact that one night Mr President himself dined at the adjoining table in the "Indian" restaurant - and this was a stay I will never forget.
Rude Russians apart, this place takes some beating.

Room Tip: personally I would choose one with a veranda view over the lakes - or the extra special - and expens...

Good caring staff, good view rooms...awesome bathrooms (with jacuzzi)
Only downside is food taste. Spread is wide but taste in not so good comparing to other 5 star hotels like park, pride or sterling.
But overall experience gud. A costly one but good for short span.
