We had a very enjoyable stay at the Leela. The location of the hotel is not suitable if one is interested in sightseeing, however we went there to just laze around. For us the vacation meant things like taking bath in the sea, a dip in the pool, reading a book lying on the sun-bed near the beach/pool, going for a long walk along the beach till it meets the river Sal or just catching a movie on the DVD player in the room.

We stayed in a Conservatory Premiere room. We found the room quite spacious and classy. The bathroom was big and lovely. The best part was that the room was facing the lagoon. With handy binoculars with us, we could see a variety of birds sitting in the room, including the common kingfisher, white throated kingfisher, stork-billed kingfisher, pied kingfisher, snake birds, ducks, red wattled lapwing, magpie robin, wagtail, brahminy kites and even a woodpecker. We spotted big frogs and many water snakes inside the lagoon. One morning, we spotted a big 3.5 feet snake on the land, it was on the land under our room. We checked out and learned it was a non-venomous checkered keelback. Unexpectedly, watching the wild life turned out to be a high point of this trip for us.

This time, we had not gone for an all meals package. Though the food was expensive and choice rather limited in the cafe, we found the food delicious and satiating. We especially enjoyed their Thai Red Curry with prawns.

Unfortunately the beach which was pristine on the first day, got covered with oil residue the next day. Apparently a ship had leaked oil into the sea. We even found a dead turtle on the beach - not sure if it was related to this but it was really sad to see the beautiful environment getting polluted by the black sticky oil residue all over. Two days, we could not enter the beach because of that.

The children's room is beautifully done though I found the options very limited for the younger kids.

The only other vacation in Goa which was a close match to this vacation was our stay at the Taj Fort Aguada a few years ago. I can never forget the terrific view of the sea we had from the balcony of the room. However the Leela proved to be a perfect choice for the kids and for all of us in having a wonderful family time.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor has better view of lagoon

This hotel is luxury defined. We chose an upgrade to the Royal Villas and what an amazing villa this was! The rooms were MASSIVE with a private pool and complete privacy.

Restaurants and food selection - check
Pools and bars - check
Kid friendly - check
Spa - check
Service - Unmatchable, simply the best (special thanks to our butler, Kaushik...our kids still remember him)

Only downside, getting here from the airport is a long drive, kind of a pain.

Would definitely stay here again if we plan to visit Goa in the future.

If you are looking for a quiet, luxurious and relaxing holiday and the destination is Goa, go ahead to check into Hotel Leela Palace. In South Goa - one of the best hotels in the city. With Taj, Holiday Inn, and many other properties in close vicinity, Leela Palace has lots to offer. Villa type cottages, lovely swimming pool, water sports, casino, wonderful bar. A real good place to relax with family and friends. Food is really good -- they almost serviing what ever you want. Luxury at its best!!!

First impression is the best impression! But Leela GOA failed to impress us on the first step we entered in Leela. The moment we entered the hotel, the manager came to us and introduced himself, next question he asked us was are you paying by your card now fully / can I block the card for the partial value. I was really taken by surprise by that attitude, he was so restless and wanted collect the money as though we are going runaway without paying and to my surprise he was not courteous in his approach. Even during check-out, we left the hotel with lot of arguments & frustration. My feedback keeping aside what happened to us,

Room: Very good - With respect to the room (conservatory premier) we stayed, I must admit, it was really very good, neat, nice and comfortable.

In house service: Average – You ask for something they will give you something without remembering what you asked for and will take so much of time you will really regret for ordering, that too when your kid is hungry.

Food (I am a Veg) : Average – As we opted for all meal option, we were provided with buffet menu. On day one, we found the menu to be nice, but from the next day it was so boring as the menu they served throughout our stay is so stereotypic (without much options) and we were not be able to enjoy after two meals and the service in the restaurant was also not appreciative, as you need to keep asking them what you want again and again (even to serve you some water), most of the time you will become invisible to their eyes. Sometimes, When you ask for soft pulka, you may get one like a pappad J I got one after waiting for few mins.

Drinks (Beer): Please check on the expiry date, you may get a beer which is near to expiry sometime. (I got one, consumed half of It and found it tastes different, after my complaint they agreed as it was a mistake and made that beer on the house, but from the next beer I ensured to check the expiry date)

Swimming pool:
Kids pool: Very Good – my kid really enjoyed.
Main pool: Good for amature

Beach: Poor – the beach was full of oil residue, can’t complain Leela.

With my experience, I am not recommending Leela GOA! But you may be lucky, if you choose to ...

Chose to indulgence ourselves on our first anniversary at the Leela Goa, and came back satisfied.

The property is quite large, and spread out - it can be a fair walk from one side to the other. For those who have elderly people with them/difficulty walking, it may be wise to let the hotel know beforehand to choose a room that is close to the hotel area.

While the room we stayed in was strictly OK (considering you expect much more from a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices) however a thumbs up for the entire property itself. It is green, well manicured and tree lined, has a small pond of sorts, a beautiful golf course and spa.

It is also well located, if you want a quiet relaxing holiday away from the commercial hustle bustle and buzz of North Goa. And Fisherman's Wharf which we personally love is right next door!

The breakfast offers a good choice, and we did dine in at the restaurants on a couple of nights as well. The gym (which we felt compelled to hit after chronic overeating at every breakfast :-)) was well equipped though the pool was not particularly impressive.

Hitch a ride on the golf buggy, borrow a bicycle to cycle strictly within the hotel grounds, read a book at the sheesha lounges at the reception and grab the prawn balchao and margherita at Fisherman's Wharf, and thou is guaranteed to have a good time. Oh and hopefully, the lovely bar by the beach side that was undergoing construction is now complete.

Have stayed at the Leela Goa three times in 18 months and have tried their conservatory premiere room, lagoon suite and 2 bed royal villa which had it's own plunge pool. Got to be the most stunning location in Goa on practically it's own beach and 75 acres of gardens. Excellent food at the Susegado beach bar especially the grilled butterfly prawns. Do try the Goan honeymoon cocktail and if feeling reckless, the feni!! Fine Indian cuisine at the Jamavar with live Indian music and dance. Italian Riviera restaurant was so-so but a fab location on the River front. Amazing service made up for any hitches with the royal villa (ant infestation) and can't wait for next visit!
