“Top class resort”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We stayed for 4 nights over the New Year period 2012/3 and had a superb time. Looks like everyone else has sung its praises and given overall impressions of the resort, so I'll keep this objective. We would have marked this a 5 rating but the reason we gave it 4 can be seen below.

The things we liked were
breakfasts - great dosa
poolside quiz
cocktail demo at the Fig & Olive restaurant
egrets coming up close at the beachside Fish Grill
poolside games (fun beer drinking competition)
superb cocktails at the Fig & Olive - best mojito ever (up to that point)

Things we didn't like
Having to wait for an hour for our main course at the Fish Grill because the waiter had misunderstood our order. To be fair when we were there subsequently, they did seem to make sure our order was OK.
The worst mojito ever at the inside bar upstairs by reception - nothing like the one we had at the Fish Grill
The fact that drinks seemed to be at different prices depending on which bar you were at. Kinfisher for example was about half as much again in the Fig & Olive compared to the Fish Grill.
We can (mostly) forgive all these things and we woudl have given it a 5 rating except for what now follows.....

What we hated was
the absolutely ridiculous wi fi charges. I've mentioned this in other reviews about places we've stayed in India. Some charge for wi fi and some don't but the Holiday Inn had the highest prices we experienced during our trip and this is not a per-room charge, it's per device. On this basis unless they changed their wifi policy we would not stay there again.

Although we liked the place, you are in a very sanitised environment and if that's what you want from a Goa beach resort then that's fine. The south of Goa is much quieter than the north and the beach outside the hotel goes on for miles in either direction with only a very few bars on it.

Had a lovely 3 nights/4 days stay in holiday inn goa.
Rooms:
Had the basic garden view room and it was simply fabulous. Would love to try the higher category rooms next time. Clean spacious room with well maintained toilet. One major drawback is there is no hand faucet in the loo. This, i feel is mandatory in india. But other than that housekeeping and room service was top notch. The mini bar was ample and tempting. The room had a balcony facing the pool which was just too good.

Food:
They have multiple restaurants. My favourite was the fish grill on the beach which had the freshest, most delicious fish i have ever had. The breakfast at mardi gras was good. The food was overall very tasty as was expected.

Entertainment
Each day they have numerous activities so that you will never feel like leaving the resort. In addition to this they rent out bikes at very nominal rates which is equally fun to drive around.
The swimming pool is too good and the beach is private and it has all the beach activities on it thus it offers loads of options for you

Minuses :
Firstly the toilet has no hand faucet which is a demerit in india
Secondly There is no free WIFI and i personally feel in such a high end resort, it should be free or available at nominal charge
Thirdly and this was one big headache. There was a wedding happening on the last night before we left. Initially i loved the wedding decorations and festive atmosphere but eventually it was 11:30 pm and the music was still blaring out on the lawn while they has a private ballroom available. This led to my 2 yr old son not sleeping properly and bugging the hell out of me. Thus i feel the management should consider the timings for such events. Other than that they were not much of a hassle .

Finally the resort is very far from the airport thus i feel the hotel could provide economic modes of transit to and from the hotel. The charge of 1900 from the hotel for car and 700 per person for shuttle bus is just too much.

Overall it was a very good enjoyable stay and i would definitely recommend the property to others

Room Tip: Select a pool facing room, lovely ambience

We stay for 4 nights in Pool view super Delux room which is best as par location and view is concern. Holiday inn has very good private white sand beach and huge swimming pool. It is a big property with many landscape gardens. Room tip- don't take plaza garden room or Delux garden room. Always go for pool view room on 1st floor. Don't take package with food plan and sightseen inclusion. Just book room with breakfast (cp plan) and free airport pick up and drop. For main food they have very good ala carte restaurant on beach front and on swimming pool. If you take AP/MAP plan then you have to have food in their buffet restaurant which is not that good and overcrowded sometimes. Don't take their sightseen trip as they take you on fixed route on fixed date and at fixed time(afternoon)---simply avoid it. If you are staying in south goa then forget north Goa- just hire a bike/car and roam around on south Goa beaches and discotheque on your own timings. If you want to visit north Goa then stay in a hotel near north Goa beaches like- whispering palm or goan heritage for 2 or 3 nights.

I stayed in Holiday Inn Goa, in august 2012. I went there for my honeymoon. We received warm welcome and check-in was really smooth. They surprised me by upgrading my normal room to poolside room, Thanks to Holiday Inn staff. The staff was very caring and serves very fast. It was my wife's birthday and they again surprised us by arranging Pool side Candle light diner and Pineapple Cake. We really enjoyed that time and will never forget.

Rooms are clean and species, beautiful pool and big garden, Beach is just a few meters away.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner was excellent. They also arranged Half day Goa City tour for us. It was awesome experience for both of us.

I will surely go back whenever I will get a chance.

Room Tip: Pool View rooms and larger and sunny.

This is it. The most important thing for us was that the hotel had to be right on the beach so that we could literally crawl to the water if we wanted to and this one does just that. The hotel has a great layout, friendly staff, super easy check-in and the rooms are very good to excellent (regular and deluxe combination). I would think rooms around the pool area will be noisy during the day and also till late night so avoid unless that is what you want. We stayed at the rooms near the far left back of the hotel, very very quite area and that made the sleep experience wonderul.

Rejuvenated every morning.

Breakfast: Good spread: different things on the buffet every day (considering we were staying for 7 days) that was very helpful.
Lunch: Same layout as breakfast: Best meal in terms of variety and combinations
Dinner: Probably not as good as the other two meals but still a lot of choice. They generally expect people to flock to the sea side sea food/grill restaurant so don't make the dinners that attractive.

The pool is a good sized one and has a baby pool for those that still need to learn swimming.

The beach: Beautiful, Long, Clean (mostly) and free from overcrowding or onlookers. Makes it an appealing place to be on the entire goan coastline. The hotel is only next to the Leela hotel so only a limited amount of people venture on these beaches. Life guards every 200 meters and plenty of beach shacks for drinks/snacks etc.

Overall Review: We will go back! It's great for the kids and the adults.

Room Tip: Avoid pool side rooms if you want peace and quite.

I stayed in the month of December for two days. The beach is located just stone's throw away distance and can be termed as private beach. Not many outsiders come to this part of beach. The resort pool is pretty big and they open up early in morning. They have a bar and barbeque over the beach and, if you want, you can arrange a romantic dinner at the beach.
Usually in big resorts, major disappointment come from the food department however I enjoyed all the spread here, nice and large breakfast spread, good lunch and a sumptuous dinner. All suiting my taste buds.
The resort has a sprawling lawn and kids will surely love it. Few rooms are really away from the reception however no one will mind a little walk. Pool facing or beach facing rooms give a good view.
One thing I heard is that there seems to be some issue with not allowing Indian nationals in early morning to their beach. I heard it however I am not sure if it is true. However if it is true than it is very serious. I hope the hotel management can clarify this.
If it is true, then I will never visit the resort again, this I can be very sure of.

Room Tip: Beach view is the best
