This beach is lovely but the sea is rough and has a wicked undertow.....be very careful with children here. It is not an immaculate beach as you would see in Dubai, but beautiful, uncrowded and ...well it is Goa.

“A gem of a beach!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

This was my first visit to South Goa, and Cavelossim Beach is one of the things that made it worthwhile. It's located close to the larger hotels in Caveloossim: Radisson Blu, The Leela, Dona Sylvia and Haathi Mahal. It's beautiful, clean and not very crowded at most times.

At the time of my visit, the temperature of the water and force of the waves were just perfect. It tends to get a little crowded in the evening (around sunset), but it's almost perfect early in the morning and late afternoon. Apart from just lazing around, you can also take a jet-ski ride or para-sail over the water.

Cavelossim Beach has a fair number of shacks to choose from (although I suspect they all have similar menus). I was a bit disappointed to find that it's almost close to impossible to find authentic Goan-style fish or prawn curry at shacks on the beach -- but I highly recommend ordering Batter-fried Calamari which was simply delicious!

The two shacks we visited were Dom's Beach Shack, and Pipkin's (which is slightly farther away from the rest and towards the back). I particularly liked the latter because it was a little more private, and the food was quite nice. On the other hand, the owner and staff at Dom's were quite friendly. As at any other beach, if you order food or drinks from a particular shack, you can settle down in one of the beach beds that are placed in the front.

I didn't see any vendors, except one lady who sold fruit. On the road leading to the first entrance to the Cavelossim Beach (a little ahead from Club Tito's) you'll find little shops that sell the standard jewellery and clothes that are characteristic of Goa. Most sell the same type, but in different patterns. First rule is, of course, bargain! The vendors expect you to do so ;) Almost all of them here speak Russian, English, Konkani and Hindi.

There are a number of dogs on this beach, but most have collars and are friendly. They are quite happy to snooze under your sun bed, so don't worry too much if you suddenly hear a bark or two!

“Good base to explore Goa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

Although Cavelossim is fairly small it has an abundance of shops and eating places. It is cleaner and less commercialised than North Goa. The beach is huge with plenty of shacks where you can have 2 sunbeds, an umbrella, drinks all day and a snack for lunch for about £10.

“Excellent Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

Great sandy beach lots of good shacks to eat in and no hassle walking along. Most shacks have free beds and toilets of course they do like you to eat and drink at their shacks, they will also have jewellers and other restaurants that they will tell you about but nicely with no pressure.
