“More than lived up to (high!) expectations -fabulous holiday”
Reviewed July 21, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The villa is so well appointed, everything you could need is there, but the real wow factor is the situation, and therefore, the views. Every evening, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony upstairs, looking across to the mountains and the sea, usually in sunshine. However, it was even more spectacular on the one evening we had storms - the lightning was fantastic.
Pool is great for cooling off and generally having fun in, plenty sunbeds and space around it.
Indoors, floors DO get slippery, be careful!
The village has a few raustaurants and bars, we ate out most nights and only had one disappointing meal. A little unexpected hidden gem was the Italian restaurant - when a change from Greek food was needed.
Car pretty much essential, we had multiple airport visits due to logistics, and it made it all straightforward
Visit the beaches, the waves are fab, Chania town - especially the old part,. Freshwater lake also a hit.

“yet again a wonderful holiday !”
Reviewed November 9, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

This was our second stay in villa Daymer (our first was in july 2011 to mark my husbands 60 th birthday/retirement when he treated the entire family 2 sons and daughter +partners to a weeks holiday). The views of Souda Bay are exceptional ! the villa is huge and very well designed with lots of balconies. We have stayed in other properties in the area and this was easily the best. Chris and Linda were extremly helpful and prompt with replies. We have already booked for next year ,I think that says it all !!

“Daymer, fantastic villa in a brilliant location”
Reviewed September 8, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Summer 2014, and this is our third stay at Villa Daymer, that probably says it all.
Daymer is in a great location, just far enough out of the village of Plaka to be private and not overlooked, but close enough to be able to wander into Almyrida or Plaka (take a torch at night).
The villa is furnished to a high standard, with enough equipment to allow a full meal to be made if required. With the kitchen and living space on the top floor, you have the best views at any time of day and night.
The outside space, pool and furniture are brilliant, along with the garden containing shrubs and tree's providing plenty of shade when required, as well as screening from the quiet adjacent road that runs down to the rocky coastline, (well worth the walk and scramble tho').
The beach & sea at Almyrida is great for all ages, and there are plenty of quieter beach's within a short drive. The range of taverna's in Almyrida and Plaka means no shortage of choice for eating out.
The villa and pool maintenance staff were polite and efficient.
Over our three visits, our group size varied from 3 up to 7 people, all teens and older. The villa never seemed too small or crowded. Having stayed in Greece with three small children over the years, Daymer would certainly be child friendly (usual precautions with a pool and wet tiled floors !!).
Finally, the owners, Chris and Linda are the perfect hosts, attentive and friendly. Fingers crossed we will be back, and hopefully very soon.

“Fantastic views”

Our second stay at Villa Daymer and just as enjoyable as the first although our family has somewhat expanded. Love the views from all around the villa. Restaurants in Plaka as good as ever as they were in Almyrida.
Although a few minor problems which were sorted out by the caretakers for us we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We needed a taxi from Chania and as there was a total of 9 adults and three children we hired a mini bus ( not all staying at Daymer some stayed at Bircona Gardens) to pick us up from the airport and for the return journey. We used a fantastic service and got a really good rate. They were very efficient and their Email is www.taxi4crete.gr. Once again another wonderful holiday that will create lasting memories. A big thanks to Chris for once again being so helpful.

“Nice villa with stunning views”
Reviewed July 2, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villa Daymer and the views from the balconies were fantastic, especially at sunset. The location close to Plaka village, with good restaurants/cafe bars in easy walking distance is excellent and Almirida beach and restaurants a short drive away were also convenient. The villa itself was clean, fresh, light and airy and had plenty of space for 6 adults plus young child. The pool was great and the table tennis table in the basement was also well used. The only downsides are lack of wifi at the property but nearby Bicorna cafe was very handy for wifi and a great place to sit in the shade. Some kitchen items like a few dishwasher tabs and washing powder would have been appreciated and some of the kitchen equipment eg coffee maker with dodgy handle could be improved. The top floor shower also seemed to leak a bit when used making floor slippy. Overall though this was a very good property at a good price. The local caretakers were friendly and helpful and responded quickly to issues like needing to use key card for ground floor electricity and bringing us a barbeque which was listed on the property description.

“Super holiday in super place!”
Reviewed March 7, 2014 for a stay in September 2013

We had a great family holiday at Villa Daymer. The villa is down an unmade road which is easily negotiable. The views from the upper level balcony over Suda Bay are absolutely stunning. We had an extended family of 6 people who had plenty of space of their own. The facilities are excellent, and a great attraction is that it is within walking distance of several good restaurants in Plaka.
We would certainly recommend it for family groups as it has a great pool and other recreational facilities. We are looking forward to returning again in the near future.

“Dissapointing to say the least”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

From the outside the villa looks imposing, but bedrooms are small .Pillows totally inadequate. Air conditioning was efficient. On arrival (late evening) we were met with a flooded kitchen floor. Contacted housekeeper who advised that it was probably a defrosting fridge to blame, and that there was a mop outside that I could use to clean up - just what I needed after a long journey...He blamed the flood on him not having enough time between guests to prepare for us - by my estimate he had the best part of 12 hours!! Housekeeping continued to disappoint - could not access the safe; immersion heater had been left on by previous guests causing the heater to fail, thus tripping out the electrics. We were out when this happened, resulting in fridge/freezer defrosting! When the electric kettle failed, housekeeping tried to blame us!! The lane to the front of the villa is very busy with lorries, diggers, vans etc. using it to access building work further down the lane. Huge dust clouds were caused by this traffic, and since the pool is at the front of the villa we found ourselves covered in dust whilst sunbathing. Very noisy in the lane from 07.30 every morning and again during the afternoon. Bath water took hours to drain, so we could not use it - did not bother to contact housekeeper - afraid we would be blamed for that as well!! Gorgeous views did help, but we felt rather let down. The poolside plastic chairs and sunbeds had no cushions. As regular villa renters, we found this to be one of the poorer ones.

Management Response
Nov 10, 2013
We are so sorry you didn't enjoy your stay in Villa Daymer - this must have been disappointing for you. We are surprised as we have had so many excellent reviews from people who have stayed there before and enjoyed both the villa and it's beautiful location.
Our housekeepers normally respond quickly to visitors and deal with any problems efficiently. We will share your review with them and ensure that this doesn't happen for future visitors.
We weren't aware that any building work was to be carried out near the villa but it is unfortunate that the construction vehicles had to use the road past the villa. We understand the work was not extensive and should now be completed but we're sorry that this intruded on your holiday. The lane past the villa isn't surfaced but we haven't pressed for this as it normally discourages traffic and ensures that the villa retains an element of seclusion.
Villa Daymer has been enjoyed by many visitors and we have recognised that it is now due for refurbishment -this is planned and will be completed before the next season and we are confident that our usual standards will be retained. However we regret that there were some facilites that were not up to standard at the time of your visit and thank you for your feed back which we find invaluable in helping us to maintain and improve the experience for future visitors.
