A really relaxing/exciting , neat place where any question/problem could have the right answer, suggestion and solution thank to a sensitive, patient, well trained staff and a perfect Host, Anne the general manager.ASANTE

Room Tip: WHAT A PITY! Our beautiful family room had a very bad smell of humidity. Higher floors are dry and...

We felt very comfortable in this hotel. We have never seen such polite and friendly staff. Everybody ist helpful and smiling. Anne, the gorgeous and very nice manager was very helpful when we had problems with the standard room. We left the hotel at 3 a.m. for the airport and a friendly stuff member was waiting for us to help us with the luggage. I haven`t seen this service in any other five stars hotel!!!!! At 3 a.m. !!! The best thing for us was also that all the cocktails are made with FRESH fruits- wow!!! It´s excellent! The bar staff really squezzed fresh passion fruits, mangos, bananas - delicious!!! The food was always very good. You could find every day something you like, meat, fish, vegetable, salat, fruits, desert...We will miss the staff a lot because everybody was so friendly. I am sorry I don`t know all the names, I would mention them all. I can really, really recommend this beautiful, friendly, clean hotel at a great beach! Thank you for making our holiday so wonderful, Anne and the whole staff!!

Room Tip: You should book the Deluxe rooms, thea are great!

We enjoyed our part of honeymoon really much in here. We appreciate very nice staff and beautiful room with big balcony with a shower. Food was also tasteful. Hotel beach offers nice and calm place to realx under the palm trees and away from all businnesmen on the beach.

We visited the property over New Years for 5 nights in a large group. It was a great improvement from the last time that we had visited. The chefs were great (sous chef in particular and also the pizza chef) and ever willing to go above and beyond their requirements... Had a few issues with few of the air conditioners - seems the hotel don't have a system where they have routine cleaning/ servicing of a-cs. Which would help if you want your guests to have a great uninterrupted stay... Also maybe a bigger btu unit would adequate considering the bigger sized rooms so that the compressor is not always running.... The room steward at our block was excellent and always made sure our rooms were spot on clean at the times that we needed them done. The rooms were spacious and quite nice. The outside shower was a great addition but was awkward when you could see the neighbour showering... Maybe it needed to be laid out differently so that one could shower without looking at their neighbour in the nude!!! This made it awkward as you would need to have your neighbouring room shower then you could shower.... The water pressure wasn't great all the time and infact one night there wasn't any water in the taps from 12 midnight to 6:30 am!! Very strange indeed... When I called guest services they claimed the pool was being filled??!!! Quite disappointing... They need to have better pump systems for water pressure so when they are running at a full occupancy, they can avoid such issues.. The help from the front desk was quite poor. We had lost 2pairs of sunglasses as we left them at a public area notably by the pool... They could not be found and the front office staff never seemed to offer an extra hand to find them and flatly told us that they were not found and asked us repeatedly to check our belongings... I would have expected them to at least show some courtesy, and ask more of how and when we had not seen them or lost them or some kind of concern or assistance, but none was accorded. The food was good but could have been better - on big nights they ran out of prawns and the rest of the good stuff... They could put a little more emphasis on quality of food and how long it sits on buffets as this is the key to any hospitality organisations' success... Also on big nights like New Year's Eve, at least take some time and decorate tables and make an effort or a theme so that your clients have this extraordinary experience... Few staff seemed quite tired and were doing double shifts or triple shifts due to the holiday period, but simple smiles from them would really go a mile for clients... Instead of a somewhat angry dull face... The usual Mombasa experience of pampering foreigners instead of locals was noticed by few staff... This is not a positively sign..There were some staff who were exceptional, I must say.. The major problem this hotel has is that the drainage/sewer system is a mess and not taken caRe of well probably as they haven't coordinated well with the hotel that's is right next to it,,, the bathrooms in a few rooms had a bad sewer smell that was disgusting at times.. even the room steward tried to put an extra dose of his routine chemical drain pouring.. It still didn't help... From my understanding, the hotel is very aware of it but action speaks louder than words... Take action and don't ruin your guests' experiences with that horrid sewage smell!! Beds great and towels good.. Swimming pool towel man- rude and disorganised... Next year kindly advise clients of the 6am rave that's happening right next door till 10am on the the 1st of Jan.. It would be nice.. For breakfast, when clients stay for more than 3 or 4 nights they would expect some sort of variety or change... It was good but you never had a change...one should have a daily special or two for breakfast...

Room Tip: Stay Away from the bad smelling bath rooms... Which are on the right hand side of the hotel as you e...

It's very nice accommodation, perfect service and location.
Rooms are spacious, very clean (cleaned up 2x/day), well equipped. We had family suite (for 4 people) so we had 2 bathrooms and an extra room equipped with a fridge, tea / coffee set, sofa and tv.
Beach was nice, clean, sea grass and creatures only during low tide. There were comfortable sunbeds and kind beach attendant, also drinks from the bar were served there. It was very nice to walk along the beach, only beach boys were importunate for a while, but understood "no" and also couldn't cross the hotel border.
Swimming pool was all the time clean and warm. There were also comfortable armchairs and beds with pillows.
Food was tasty, fresh, various meat and pizza were prepared on outdoor grill / oven. Sometimes tables were also moved outside so we had a dinner under the stars. Drinks from fresh juices and local alcohol were little bit strong, but amazing. There was live music or Masai dance every evening.
Service was excellent in the bar, restaurant, beach, everywhere. Always smiling and welcoming.
Spa and animation activities were also available, but we didn't utilize.
I can't imagine more worthy choice to stay.

We where here last year and were not disappointed in any way this year, on the contrary it was even better than year last year, if that was possible. We have been coming to Diani Beach for something like 20 times over the last 25 years and stayed in a few hotels along the beach during this period of time. Ocean Village is the undisputable winner. The deluxe rooms are great, plenty of room with a separate shower and a bathtub. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean our room boy Karisa did a great job. The air condition worked just fine and you could hardly hear it at all, got to be one of the first times in Kenya.

The food was fine and definitely a certain improvement on last year. We did however have a wonderful experience at the Sails restaurant in the hotel, where we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with some friends, the restaurant staff were amazing, the lobsters so good it was evening we will remember for a very long time.

One thing we noticed is that the maintenance team were really on the ball and extremely quick to fix things, which makes us feel that the standard of the hotel will be kept up, this is important as we want to come back again and not be disappointed. It seems that the management and staff have done a good job after the renovations.

Finally the reception were always helpful with any queries and our booking handled by Grace was efficient and correct.

Would we recommend this hotel. YES
