My girlfriend and I arrived back last week after 2 brilliant weeks at the Baobab staying at the Kole Kole. We originally booked a bungalow at Baobab but were put into Kole Kole when we arrived and I'm glad we were!! Nothing against the Baobab side which is really nice, but the Kole Kole is something special.

We arrived on the 30th December and 'enjoyed' the transfer to the hotel! I'll never complain about the roads in Scotland again! It all adds to the experience though and to be fair our driver was great at swerving round them! The rep said the journey is nicknamed 'the African massage' very apt!

Anyway, the Kole Kole itself is a magnificent hotel. Really spacious and the grounds are kept immaculate. The rooms are great, we had a great view of the complex from our balcony as well as a great sea view. Rooms also have t.v, hairdryer etc

New Years eve is something we will never forget, it was the best way to see in the New year! No rain, sleet, high winds this year!

The staff at the Kole Kole are fantastic, really friendly and never walk past you without saying 'Jambo'. The animation team are really friendly too and aren't too pushy when it comes to rounding people up for Volleyball etc! The shows at night are interesting, it ranged from a show staring neon fish to a show about the history of slavery! Diverse if nothing else!

The food is brilliant too. Cooked right in front of you and always delicious with a lot of choice. If you are a fan of pasta be prepared to run the gauntlet with the Italians!

The Suli Suli bar is a great place to relax in the evening (and during the day!!) Again, the staff are very friendly and never let you pass without saying Jambo. Good choice of cocktails to try, especially the Mojito's! Tusker beer is also very good!

However, the only negitive thing about the holiday were the beachboys. A simple 'no thanks' tends to work after around the 10th time you say it. This did put us off going down to the beach which was a shame as the beach is spectacular.

Overall we had the holiday of a lifetime in Kenya. The Kole Kole is an amazing hotel and I highly recommend it. The Baobab looks fantastic too and we did wander around a few times and the staff again were first class.

I really hope the situation improved sonner rather than later and more people get to sample Kenyan hospitality. To see the hotel almost empty wasn't a nice experience especially for the staff that made our holiday so special.
