As other reviewers have stated this is a very neat property which is perfect as a getaway from the normal routine. What made this so perfect was having a private pool and attentive but discrete staff who took excellent care of us.

There are a couple minor problems. First, they don't accept credit cards so you must wire payment in full in advance. Next, trying to walk by yourself on the beach is impossible because of the local 'beach boys' who will hassle you for money. The villas do provide an escort to help ward this off but it is annoying to require a chaperone. Local police take bribes from the 'beach boys' to look the other way. Kenyan corruption at its finest! The travel from the main airport to the property requries a ferry ride and is a bit long - no water was provided by the driver/vehicle. Surely an ice chest with some cold water could be arranged?? Last, internet was difficult because we couldn't get a connection to the main router and the usb stick modem had to be borrowed from a friend of the owner and we felt guilty about the inconvience to them.

Alfajiri Villas is absolutely stunning. We stayed in the Beach Villa for 4 nights after a 7 day safari. It was perfection. The decor is so beautiful, and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. Fabrizio met with us every morning to discuss the menu, which always included the freshest catch of the day. The meals were delicious. Our butler Tsuma was wonderful and made our stay such a pleasure. While there are many activities to do, we spent our afternoons on the beach (accompanied by a guide from the Villa) and laying on the couches near the pool. The Beach Villa no longer shares a pool with the Garden Villa so if you are seeking privacy and romance you can find it here! I dream of this place all the time and truly hope that I can return to celebrate an anniversary.

We spent 3 nights at Alfajiri's sister camp, Galdessa and then travelled down to Diani Beach for a 7 night stay at Alfajiri. The rand is not very strong against the dollar, so this was an expensive holiday for us. I can honestly say that it was worth every cent!

Walking onto the property, we felt like a huge weight had been lifted from our shoulders. It is light, airy, beautiful - exceptional design elements, stunning art works, extraordinary attention to detail, lush, superbly maintained garden - just perfect.

We then met Duncan, our room steward (funnily enough, our room steward at Galdessa was also called Duncan), who catered to our every need without us feeling like he was lurking... Fabrizio came down every morning to discuss the meals for the day (my favourite part) and Kazam, a young man with a special smile accompanied me on my long walks almost every day.

The only thing that I can say is that as brilliant as it was to be away from our children for a bit, I really missed them. They would've had an absolute ball at Alfajiri and it is probably one of the few upmarket places that is genuinely child-friendly.

We really hope to be able to go back one day... and sooner rather than later... Kenya is an extraordinary country and only enhanced by places like Galdessa and Alfajiri and people like Fabrizio and his family.

Thank you for a magnificent experience.

I just returned from three nights at the Alfajiri Villas and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Beach Villa on the oceanfront, and had an absolutely romantic and relaxing end to our safari.

The service is superb, especially since you have your own butler. The owner, Fabrizio, ensures that you are well looked after and is an incredible host.

The food is spectacular. The service is perfect (tables set beautifully for candle lit dinners). Fabrizio will come around and offer you the fresh catch (calamari, crab, snapper) and will ensure that the kitchen prepares it, or whatever you would like to eat, perfectly. The menu is completely catered to you, so it is practically as if you have a private chef.

The interiors are elegantly appointed in custom made furniture, much of which is designed by Fabrizio's chic wife.

The beach is not private, although your villa is so lovely that you will not even want to leave it. The pool is beautiful as well. The Garden Villa and the Beach Villa share the pool so, if you are seeking ultimate privacy, book the Cliff Villa.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay and definitely would love to go back.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Africa and stayed at Alfajiri for 3 nights at the end of our 2 week safari. It was an amazing place to wind down and relax after safari. Fabrizio. the owner and manger, could not have been more hospitable and welcoming, and was intent on making our stay as comfortable as possible, open to accomodating us in any way: creating menus each day based on anything we wished to have, organizing any activities we wanted to do, scheduling daily massages for us by the ocean, etc. The location overlooking the Indian Ocean is simply beautiful, and each of the 3 villas is spacious and very private. We stayed in the garden villa, which was 4 unique bedrooms (the "Japanese" Room and the "Indian" Room downstairs and 2 beautifully decorated, bright rooms upstairs). There were only 2 of us, so it was a bit large for us but it would be perfect for couples travelling together or families (for a couple they also have the smaller but equally beautiful "Beach Villa"). The Garden Villa has a large open "living room" area with beautiful furniture and artifacts from all over the world, a "game room" next to that, and all opens up to the infinity pool and views overlooking the ocean. Each villa is assigned a private butler, who caters to your wishes at anytime of the day and also helps organize any activites you decide to do - walks on the beach, jet skiing, diving, golf, etc. Everyone on the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The food was excellent, and after 3 days of 3 course meals (3 times a day!) we could barely move our last day there!! They can make anything you crave - fresh seafood, delicious Italian pastas and pizzas, homeade gelatos, Indian food, etc. If you dream it, and they will make it!
The only downfall to the area (Diani Beach) is that the beach is so beautiful, but the moment you step onto the sand you are practically swarmed by the "beach boys" wanting to sell you anything under the sun. They are quite annoying, and many times will not leave you alone. The nice thing about Alfajiri is that they organize someone to walk with you down to the beach when you want to go, which helps steer the beach boys away. This is a definite plus!
We had a wonderful time there and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone wanting an intimate experience with 5 star service on the Kenyan Coast...we hope to return!!
