We visited last july for a friends´wedding. The location is stunning. The beach has nothing to envy to many famous locations, however instead you actually get the quietness and tranquil paradise that you actually come to look for.

For an event, the place is actually great. The many gardens and terraces allow for fantastic setting where to place large amounts of people without feeling ´bulk´.

The rooms are alright, do not expect luxury, and beware of the monkeys as they know how to break the mosquito nets! The goal is however not the rooms, but the fantastic beach and vicinity!

The service is caring, although often they seem so relaxed that you wonder if your order will ever reach... but do not worry, if you give it enough time it does!

Room Tip: Building F-H-I, on top floor so you can hear and see the sea! they also have great villas and suites...

Great hotel with fantastic service and breath-taking beach! We stayed in one of the villas and it was paradise. You can see that there have been significant refurbishments in this resort compared to what it was just a year ago - the restos and rooms in particular. Service was superior with the waiters and management attending to our every need. Pool area seemed clean and fun but we didnt bother leaving our villa's private pool area. Food was good, great quality, fresh and good variety of indian, and continental. By far, the beauty of this resort is the beach. Stunning blue water and powdery white sand and the warm indian ocean - how can you go wrong?

I'd definitely recommend this resort to anyone whether it be families or couples looking for some rest and relaxation.

Enjoy a little slice of heaven in beautiful mombasa.

Room Tip: Anything beach front or a villa.

Looking for a place to feel at home, while on holiday? Leisure Lodge is the place to be. Our Easter holiday at Leisure Lodge was awesome, the staff treated us very well. Considering the many negative stories going around, that many hotels treat their own very uncouthly, i must Leisure Lodge made us feel at home, no discrimination, no racism, just great people to hang out with. We played games with the staff, and the CEO Mr. Mutua is very hands on, and gives that personalized attention that guests appreciate. For those golf lovers, the course at Leisure Lodge is top notch....
On the minor downside, the rooms are in dire need of renovation, though the the hotel acknowledged this as a renovation was due in August of that year.

Enjoyable stay at Leisure Lodge. Food ok though not luxurious. Big buffets with basic items, nothing exotic or expensive. Rooms need a refurbishing. Monkeys everywhere can be a nuisance. Enjoyed the teppan table meal although kind of pricey but good fish selection to be cooked in front of you. Staff courteous. Watch out for the beach boiys beyond the hotel beach immediate area., They will chase you for tours.

Room Tip: Ask for a club room with private pool

We spent a lovely week at Leisure Lodge in January 2012 on recommendation of a friend. I'm surprised to read some negative stuff here as we had a wonderful stay and would definitely come again. The hotel is being refurbished and we got a great room: elegantly done in blues and whites, clean, good shower (nice big shower head as I like and good pressure), stunning view - wish i had taken a picture to post as not at all like the rooms shown here. I'm a bit insect phobic but didn't see a single cockroach (phew) and no mosquito bites - I'd come back for that reason alone! Could be because weather is so hot. There is mostly a lovely breeze from sea so heat can be quite deceptive. Bring your sun cream and don't be shy in using it.

On arrival we were collected from airstrip and greeted with euculyptus, scented towels and a fresh coconut. Good wifi in central reception area so could chat home on skype. Good selection on food - different theme each night and loads of options. I always worry about getting ill but didn't! Really nice to see food cooked in front of you or fresh fruit cut up when you want it so can see not been lying around. Lovely omelets at breakfast.

We loved that there was stuff to do throughout day which you could join in if you wanted: volley ball on beach (brilliant fun), swahili lessons, golf lesson, stretching, palm tree climbing demo, pool aerobics etc Lots of stuff to do - even a golf course! Didn't try the spa but the prices were very reasonable. You keep discovering stuff as you walk around, little bars in coves, some nice new seats or a pretty part of the garden which are all well kept.

Beach is pristine white sand and water really warm. There are so many different places you can sit for day in hotel depending on your preference whether on beach or by one of the different pools. We like the Pango pool and pool man reserved our seats us every day and passing waiter would ask us for drinks orders. Little details like that really added the personal touch.

We were enjoying ourselves so much lying around in the Leisure Lodge bubble that didn't end up doing all day trips planned that we saw advertised in reception (like swimming with dolphins; dhow boat trip; visit to sacred, ancient forests of 600yr old trees - the kaya - a UNESCO world heritage site or Mombassa. We'll have to do it next time, as we'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for one of newly decorated rooms.

This was my 4th stay at Leisure lodge. My last stay was in Jan 2009. I came back hoping to experience the great time i had in my previous visits but to my surprise the hotel had aged. Lawns not maintained, rooms aged, walls not painted and even the roof over our room was falling apart. Not a very good look. When we checked in my sister's room was dirty, toilet used and not cleaned, smelt of urine, shower had grout, it was very disgusting! Not worth the money we paid! The services that we received at Bustani club had been cut back e.g. fresh towels provided in the afternoon and fruit bowl. The decor is old, not the standard for a 5 star. TV older style. Pool at Bustani club great but if you order food please give waiters 2 hours as they take a long time to prepare the food. On new years eve when we ordered drinks it took them half an hour. I ordered room service and it took over 2 hours. I think they were under staffed. Their buffet is good but very oily. I think they need to invest in some non stick pans as the omlettes we had for breakfast were too oily. Overall staff are friendly and Manager Armani and CEO John Mutua very good.Entertainment on new years eve very good. I still love the hotel grounds and beach but i think with a bit of repairs and maintenance they will look even better. We are not in a hurry to stay at Leisure lodge again, we will be looking at Leopards beach or Serena for upcoming holiday in April.

Spent 8 day between 27th dec to 4 jan 2012. Rooms in my section were way old and and the famous stale smell. Towels were only changed onces only after I asked for them to be changed. No hot water for a full 48hours. The sound of broken wheels on laundry and food trollies woke me up on a couple occasions.

All the meals were a struggle, always looking for waiters, coffee cups and stale warm coffee always arrives well after we had finished eating breakfast. Had to do a salt search at every meal. 10 out of 14 people in our group got runny stomaches. We were on the full board, so all meals were eaten there. With the exception of tea at 4h00 every day food was crap.

The hotel was full over this period, staff totally out of their depth. They were polite, but simply did not have the capacity to deal with the guests. The blame lays with the food and hotel managers. They did nothing but smile.

With hard work by some members of staff it could have been far better.

This ones good hotel, is a disgrace.
