“A very nice beach”

We went to Diani in January (2014).

The huge and white sand beach is wonderful; there aren't beach umbrellas and the sand is also quite solid so it is possible to walk without sinking, unlike lots of other beaches in the world.

There are a lot of beach boys who are often annoying.....but one can ignore them.

All in all it is worth visiting it.

Have a pleasant stay.

Eliseo

As with most beaches the boys selling can be a pain and you need to be firm with them, always say you have been lots of times before, but this problem is actually better than it was a couple years ago, crystal blue warm waters, snow white sands stunning beach

Sun, Sea, Sex...? Yes, the only downside of Diani Beach is the sex tourism, visible on every corner. As a woman it is nearly impossible to enjoy a walk on the beach without any harassments. Beach Boys and the sellers of useless junk with horrific prices can be really annoying. Best thing to do is to avoid eye contact, answer with friendly "Hapanas/No need, asante" and to only visit the beach in early mornings, when fishermen and sport guys are the only other visitors.

It is the largest (longest) beach in Kenya with good tourism infrastructure and eazily accessible from Nairobi via Ukunda airstrip.
With more than two dosens of hotels of various categories it can accomadate travellers with different preferences and wallet sizes. If you prefer swimming or snorkelling in the ocean instead of drinking beer at the pool, you should be aware that especially during full or new moon low tides at some streches of the beach make the sea hardly accessible because of the sharp corals and seaurchins. High tides, on the contrary make some parts of the beach completely dissapear under water
