To be honest, this is the second time I ever write a review, but I just felt that I had to, because this place left such a good impression. I have travelled on every continent, and if not the best, this place is definitely one of the best backpacker hostels I have ever been to.

It was extremely tidy and who could complain sleeping in a dorm with a huge Baobab-tree right in the middle of it? Well, the hangovers where horrible, and the hostel was responsible for them. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, everyone felt like they where one big family, so obviously we ended up partying a lot. The pool was never closed, so every night was a pool party with new and old friends as well as the dogs, cats and the rest of the zoo around. The music was pumping and once in a while the owners offered rounds of shots to pump up the party. Did I mention that the owners are French, so the food is very good compared to the price (very suitable for people traveling on a shoestring).

Diani is not known for it´s backpackers, but it´s luxury resorts on the beach. However this place is perfect for the backpackers what comes to the activities - a few minutes away from the beach and everything you need can be organized locally. The only thing I would complain about is the tab system in the bar - lookout how much you spend, because you do not need to handle cash before checking out!

This place is EPIC. Location perfect and crowd perfect. No one can possibly regret. It is also quite affordable. The management and staff are friendly and efficient apart from being very helpful.. The place has links to several tourist sites to visit like kite surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving etc.

Room Tip: The place is set, camp on the compound, sleep in the rooms or the dorms. You choose and you will enj...

This hostel has it all. Great party atmosphere, lovely staff that make you feel so welcome, a nice place to chill and awesome location with the beach just minutes away. With so many great attractions nearby you cant go wrong really. Be it eating fresh cooked fish for under £4, to taking a boat ride on the congo river seeing an array of wetland bird species the place caters for all interests. Don't look any further.. South-coast Backpackers is the place to be! :)

Stayed here for 5 nights in August and then went back for another 5 at the end of my trip as I couldn't stay away! As a volunteer in Kibera, Nairobi, I didn't have much money to splash out on a trip to the coast but needed a break from the hard emotional work we'd all been experiencing and to just relax and have some fun - and I couldn't have found a better place! The people, the relaxed atmosphere, the other international volunteers and lifelong friends I've made... the whole experience was outstanding. By day, you have the best beach you've ever seen only 5/10 min walk down a path, and options like taking a reeeally cheap mango-tree wood boat with a local driver over to a little island to snorkel, eat amazing fish at the local restaurant, and swim in the amazing pool and also a nearby hotel's huge infinity pool for free! And then by night, you'll be partying it up with international volunteers/travellers like you've never experienced before!! The owners will also answer any questions you have and are quick to suggest any ideas based on the kind of trip you want (more relaxing, more sight-seeing, more shopping, more partying, etc!), and the place feels very safe (never had any trouble with my stuff), but if you do feel anxious, the owners will also look after your valuables if you ask - they watched over my camera for me when I was out in the day :). A trip not to be missed - I'll be back soon!!!

Room Tip: For more sleep/privacy, get your own private room for a little more. For more partying, get a bed i...

Great place to meet people, see the coast, drink, and unwind! Plan to stay extra days... you will not want to leave!! It's amazing value for the money (cheap cheap cheap) and is safe, clean, etc. The food in the kitchen is good as well. I was worried about the mozzies, but they really weren't much of a problem for me and nets were provided, although I do have one friend that was eaten alive. I stayed in both the big outdoor dorm & a tent, and I'd say the dorm was worth a little extra money, and when you think about it in your home currency, it really is dirt cheap. Highly recommended!

I came to southcoast backpackers for a week..... and stayed for 6! A great hostel to meet people if you're a solo traveller, either at the bar, in the pool, or chilling out in the common areas. The staff and owners are fantastic at making everyone feel welcome and included. The dorms are comfortable with mosquito nets and under bed lockers. The perfect mix between partying and relaxing. I absolutely recommend this hostel - ENJOY
