I think I never before was so sure to say about a hotel that, if I will ever come to this area again I will for sure again stay in this paradise hotel again! The owner and all the staff are so lovely and attentive, the food and the arrangements for breakfast and dinner are amazing, the decorations and settings are sooo lovely, the size is just about right to meet people if you are of the communicative type or to enjoy your privacy, if you prefer. Some details I adored the most: the freshly made eggs of your choice, fresh fruits and the cake of the day for breakfast, the swing bed with ocean view for relaxing, reading or sleeping, the possibility to enjoy your dinner at a different spot each day (the displace the tables all over the place for the evening), the smiles of the staff, the infinity pool, the possibility to rent snorkelling accessories and even a canoe for free, the good advices of the owners and the stuff... well, let's make is easier: everything!

To respond to some of the previous reviews:

It is true that once you leave the place you are surrounded by Kenyans who want to sell their little somethings. But we took this also as a chance to get in touch with the locals: We once walked the beach with two of them and they told us a lot about the beach, the animals, plants, the people... At the end we bought some little wooden things that they made on their own at the beach (you can go and watch them crafting it) - especially if you count the one hour private guide on top it was really inexpensive! The next time we told them that we would like to have a walk alone and they respected that - after having greeted us by hand shake and by our names! Another day we went snorkelling and without the help of three others we would have never made our way to the spot - or at least with a lot of see-animal stitches. So of course we paid for that as well (do not forget to bargain - prices are as usual ridiculous to start with)! At the end of our stay I still had not bought the little black wooden hippo that I had seen at some tourist shops before – so they went and got it for me at some nearby souvenir shop.
If you really do not want to be bothered, be strict with them or just stay on the ground of the hotel where Ricardo and the rest of the staff has an eye on them, so you are never bothered.

It is also true that when you are sitting at the other end of the hotel ground at a perfect spot under the open air or on top of a little "view-tower", the freshly made food that comes to you might be not so warm any more or get cold relatively fast. So if you prefer, take your food closer to the kitchen and everything should be just fine. But first, most of the time the food was rightly tempered, and second, in my opinion, the setting largely makes up for the case the food might have cooled down a bit on the way to our table (despite the dinner bell).

What I found a bit disturbing was the slightly musty smell of the room (and the towels and sheets) - which is why I only give 4 stars for rooms and sleeping quality. I acknowledge that the Indian Ocean is a very humid area - especially if you go there during the rainy season (we've been there at the beginning of July 2012). So I know it is hard to avoid this, especially if the rooms are not hermetically closed to the outside, which on the other hand is really nice as well. But if there is any possibility to do something against this, you should try it to make this heaven even more heavenly! Also I think that the walls of our bathroom could get a new paint by time, but this is really a minor complaint.

As remarked by other guests, I also advise to fly in and out of Diani beach. The road to the airport of Mombasa and to most of the National parks and reserves goes right through Mombasa and you generally waste a lot of time and mood in travic jams or waiting for the ferry (we only got our plane thanks to our our driver who bribed the officer so he could get in front of the lane for the ferry).

Room Tip: We prefered the upper room for the privacy and the ocean-view (although the lower rooms have a beautiful ocean-view as well).

I was very impressed with Waterlovers, everything was first rate, down to the last detail, just beautiful, so artistic, the decor, the layout of the rooms and the buildings, etc. I would highly recommend this place and definitely would go back, The food was incredible, so much better than the average resort food. The only critique or more by way of suggestion I would have is that it would have been nice to have a bit of music, live or otherwise, around the pool, if not for the whole day, then maybe at sundown or when tea was served; this also because apparently Riccardo and Valentino love salsa music and are very good dancers, so I am sure whatever they would do in this regard would be with the excellent taste that is evident in everything done at this hotel.

Room Tip: I would say the lower floors would be the best because the monkeys can make alot of noise on the roof; also very accessible to the beach and pool.

Riccardo and Valentina have built a small corner of paradise. The service and place are outstanding and so is the atmosphere. Extremely relaxing and does not feel you're a guest in a hotel, but feels you're at home

Loved that it was a small hotel tucked in among mass tourism hotels. The service was great, the food amazing and the owner (Ricardo and Valentina) really nice people. You can enjoy the peace and quite of this place and walk just 5 steps next door to one of the larger hotels to do water sports. This really could be a five star place with just a few changes. These are suggestions and in NO WAY criticism: the towels were musty, the bed was not very comfortable and putting water bottles in the room would have been a nice touch. A mini bar or a small fridge would be great too so drinks stay cold for the late nights when the staff is gone.

Really did have a wonderful time and will stay again. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs for more privacy.

Thanks a lot for your beautifull review, it was nice to meet you.
We're happy to see that you enjoyed the service, the staff, the food and the people.
Thanks also for the tips on what to improve, that's very important to us, it gives us a direction to take. For the mattress, we're sorry that you didn't ask when you're here, since we have 3 different density, and we have spare ones in our store, so if it's too hard or too soft , we normally replace them on request within short time.
For the water in the room, it's a good suggestionto to put bottles (and we'll take action immediately to implement it, so thank you!). At the moment we offer a complimentary mineral drinking water jug in the room (1,2 lts), which we refill twice a day (the jug with the glasses you found in the room, is pure drinking water). We understand anyway the need of bottles too.
Your feedback is precious to us, thanks a lot!
Hope to see you again.
All the best.

First things first – would like to thank Riccardo and Valentina for this fantastic place. They did an incredible job creating this piece of paradise out on the Indian Ocean coast.
This is a unique hotel – something very new to experience. It’s like visiting your friends or family – nothing like staying in a hotel. The hotel is small – 8 rooms and one villa only. They stand out well so nobody can disturb each other. Each room is unique – we were very lucky to stay in the Elephant for 11 nights and enjoy a great view and our own terrace. Everything is carefully thought through: the beach bag, the cell phone available for use, the flashlight). The staff is very friendly and in a couple of days they already know what your breakfast or drink preferences are. The food is outstanding - true gourmet (all credits to lovely Valentina). We were on HB – breakfast and dinner – and never regretted the choice of basis: after 6 pm you definitely do not want to go out of the hotel looking for some bite.
Special thanks to Risha – the hotel manager - very nice, helpful, attentive and very reactive young lady

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room if avalable. Will not regret it. And bring along a good read to indulge in after dinner (though some is available in the hotel library ) - there's no TVs in the rooms. For good:-).
