“Fantastic Greek Hospitality. Absolutely loved it.”
Reviewed June 9, 2011

Just returned from a week at the Zante Maris staying the 1st week of June. Brilliant location right on the beach, sea and beach clean and safe for children. Sea lovely and warm considering fairly early in the season.Less than 5 minutes to a handful of shops and restaurants but plenty more on offer slightly further away if you want it. Hotel really clean and welcoming. Loads of seating and tv screens in reception area. Room great. Comfy beds, tea and coffee making facilities (which you don't often get!!!), slippers and bathrobes. Limited tv channels but don't go on holiday to watch tv only like to keep up with thenews which we were able to do. Aircon payable locally at 5 euros a day but from 20th June to sometime in September its free. We coped without. Temeratures during the day ranged from 26-32 and the evening was around 20 degrees. Safety deposit boxes in the room for 10 euros per week. You can also hire pool towels for 10 euros if you like.
Breakfast served from 8-10, lunch 1-3 and Dinner 7-9. Snacks available from 11-1 and 3-5 and sandwiches at the bar after 9. All inclusive drinks, coffee etc were fine and plentiful. Operated on a self service option through the day except beer which there was always someone ready to serve. One very small negative about the drinks is the mixers are a cheap brands and generally flat as served out of bottles. Drinks are served free till 11pm and then a charge of 2 euros per drink thereafter. Entertainment fairly good, the usual bingo and quiz night. Female vocalists twice a week, Greek dancing and a disco night. Ran from about 9-12 each evening so no real problem with noise at night.
The food was great, always plenty of choice and hot. A credit to George and his team. We have stayed at many all inclusives in Spain and the Zante Maris knocks spots of all of them.
The truly best and most amazing thing about this hotel is the staff. Georgia, Dritan and the team in the restaurant work tirelessly at making sure everybody is looked after. The plates and dishes are always cleared really quickly and the hospitality of the Greek people is second to none. They are always there to great you with a big smile and make you feel at home. If you are considering a stay at this hotel I don't think you will be disappointed. There is a reason this is a Gold Choice hotel with First Choice. It would always be our 1st choice and we hope to return again someday.
A big Thank You for a lovely holiday.

We have just returned from a super week at the Zante Maris. I travelled with my Mum and it was her birthday there. Georgia presented her with a lovley cake and bottle of sparkling wine and everyone sang 'Happy Birthday', it made the day very special. The staff are lovely. We didn't like the first room we were given as we couldn't see the sea. Straight away we were given two other choices without any problem. The hotel is right on the beach so you can still get drinks etc from the hotel. They have a lovely decked area with comfortable sofas so you can relax and look out to sea. The rooms were kept clean and were a good size. Pool towels are available for a 20 E deposit. Overall a great relaxing holiday. Special thanks to Georgia who can't do enough to make your stay a good one.
We travelled with First Choice and the rep, Rachel, was brilliant. Really helpful and always smiling, the best rep we have ever had. We did book a car through the company with Hertz. It was 50 E for one day and 10 E extra to reduce the excess from 750 E to 90 E. I'm sure there are probably cheaper places though. Zante airport is very small and expensive so bring a snack if you have a long wait for your flight.

Had a lovely holiday at the Zante Maris in truth I could find a fault - food very good - very clean - friendly staff - on the beach with just a short walk to the bars - as stated earlier its a pity its going fully all inclusive as we don't really like been tied to the hotel

Just got back from an amazing stay at this hotel! We stayed in room 252 which was definitely one of the best rooms in the hotel with a sea view, amazing waking up to the sound of waves every morning!
The rooms were excellent, we had 3 adults staying in one room, twin beds and a sofa bed, the sofa bed was just as comfy as the beds and there was plenty of room for all our stuff. The maid cleaned the room every day up to a high standard. The rooms had nice added extras we weren't expecting such as robes, slippers, hair dryer and a mini fridge.
We stayed half board, the food at the hotel was amazing, probably the best hotel food I have ever tasted.
The pool area was great and there was always plenty of sun loungers so no need to reserve one. We did go on the beach on our second day and paid 3 euro each for a lounger, we only did this the once, we got pestered a lot by people selling us things, like the woman selling massages, we must of got asked about 15 times through out the whole day!
I can't comment on the evening entertainment as we went to the local bars in the town at night, we found some great bars, Magdalenas and Ark were amongst our favorites, the staff there were great and made you feel very welcome.
My only criticism for the hotel was the shower, sadly the water pressure was really really slow and often changed from hot to cold, apart from this though the hotel was excellent and I would definitely recommend it to friends.

For a better account of what this hotel is like I'd suggest watching Carry on Abroad, other wise read on....

We booked our holiday to Zante via Thomson and it was a major let-down, wholly due to the lack-lustre surroundings of the Zante Maris Hotel. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and can say with some honesty this is the noisiest place I've ever lodged. There was intrusive music from dawn to dusk from the 'disco bar', barking dogs and night-time entertainers. I needed ear plugs to sleep at night - IT WAS THAT BAD. On top of this the reception staff were clueless and could not even tell us the basic bus times for journeys into Zante town. Add to this the stained bedding, towels and robes, only one curtain in the window, plus ongoing maintenance work ( painting and sanding etc ) kicking up dust in the corridor areas and we had the perfect recipe for a week of annoyance. To add insult to injury they charge extra for air-con - 5 euro a day - and 10 euro a week for use of the room safe. The gym area was also very poor, with most of the weight lifting gear filthy and treadmills that didn't work.

This hotel is promoted by Thomson as a 4 star, yet the information displayed in the rooms denote it as a 3 star by Greek standards ( ? ). By my standards it's no more than 2 stars, and that's being generous. I've stayed in better caravan parks and B&Bs.
It is also promoted as having a gym, but much of the equipment is not working or of v.poor quality.

On the plus side - such as it can be - the food is very good and the restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. The communal areas of the hotel are well-kept and clean, the outdoor pool is good and the beach is nearby. Zante itself it a pretty island, but places like this will not encourage many people to make a retun trip. If you value peace and quiet ( and sanity ) give this hotel a wide berth.

Just returned from a fantastic week at this hotel. Really clean, tasty food with lots of choice to suit everyone- plenty of greek dishes as well as pasta, rice, chips, great salad bar and tasty meat. All inclusive drinks great -cocktail list well tried and tested - drinks plentiful and bar staff really good - even got waitress service making sure we got orders in before 11pm! But even after that all drinks only 2 euros - cheap for Greece! Staff really friendly and some really good entertainment. Rooms comfy with kettle, fridge and hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. Had a few minor problems with bathroom which were dealt with immediately. Absolutely no complaints and would definitely return.
