“Excellent appartments, highly recommended!”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in June. The weather was just fantastic and the family run hotel/apartments was brilliant. We prefer the quieter out of the way hotels that are a close walk to town with shops, restaurants and places to drink!. This is the perfect place for you if you like this too. Our apartment was on the top floor with fantastic views, a large balcony and the room was absolutely lovely (and alot bigger than we expected). This is a very clean hotel with lovely staff. The pool was small but I expected this and to be honest it wasn't a bad size and most of the time it was just me and my husband in it! I personally prefer this to these massive hotels with big crowded pools with no sun lounges spare!
Thumbs up and would definitely go again!

Stayed here in August for 2 weeks, very clean, staff very friendly and in an ideal location. Pool area is lovely and well maintained. Rock night on a Friday is a good laugh. Only slight criticism is the hill! But would definetly stay again.

We stayed in May 2011, The bedroom was very clean although basic & we had a lovely spacious balcony with wonderful views across the sea from which you can see Kefalonia & to the other side is the Greek mainland (although not as clear). Staff were all lovely & spoke even when passing in the street, we like to just use our apartment as a base & we were not treat any different to those who liked to stay on site (unlike some other places we have stayed). Breakfast was very good too & was served quite early in the morning. All in all a very nice place to stay & we would come back we also like the look of the Contessina Hotel which is closer to the beach than Ariadne. Tsilivi is a good all round resort plenty of places to eat our favourites being Nemesis, Trenta Nova & Popeye's - did not care for The Med. There is a good selection of supermarkets around Tsilivi . There is a local bus service which you can board just outside The Med hotel to Zakynthos Town & it isn't badly priced, we also changed buses to visit Kalamaki for the day. You can book excursions through the local excursion offices & these are cheaper than with your tour operator, we choose to do a bus tour visited Anafonitria Monastery & also village for Wine, spices etc, then onto Navagio (shipwreck) looking down from a platform best photo opportunity! Next to Porto Vromi where you could take an optional boat trip to view Poseidon's face

Room Tip: Ask for room at reception level as these are some of the better accommodation

Once again we enjoyed a peaceful, relaxing break in the 1st week in September. Our third visit and third different room we had been allocated and was just as good as the previous occasions. Rooms are of a high quality, cleaned on a regular basis and have fantastic views. As mentioned previously the hill is steep but not really a problem, with the views making the walk well worthwhile.
If you are undecided on whether to book a stay at the Ariadne Hotel my advise would be to go ahead and do it, you won't be disappointed!

We visited the Ariadne mid September and had a fantastic holiday. All we wanted to do was chill through the day and eat out at night and this place is perfect for just that... Location is fab with great views of the bay and surrounding area. Hill not a problem to walk. We were on reception level room 205 which was a studio room. The whole hotel never mind just our room was immaculately clean. We had a small compact bathroom but there was ample place for toiletries and a shower over the bath. The water wasn't the most powerful but it was always plentiful and hot. Towel change is only twice a week which i'm not fond of however this a pitfall of going self catering. The kitchen area was opposite the bathroom. The 'cooker' was a 2 ring 'counter top' contraption. Thankfully we weren't there to cook as we prefer to eat out and be waited on. I wouldn't like to have had to cook a meal however one couple we spoke to managed to cook pasta bolognese so it can be done. There was a microwave, toaster and kettle and best of all a fridge with a freezer compartment. Perfect for making ice cubes. We always take ice freezer bags ( the sum total of our 'cooking'). Only two tumblers and no wine glasses but having asked at the bar for wine glasses to keep in our room this was no problem.
Beds are hard as well as the pillows but this did not stop us from having very comfortable nights sleep while we were there. There are glass sliding doors as well as mosquito net doors which was great as you could leave the glass doors open but the net doors closed and these let all the air in through the night. We did not need air con as it was just pleasant through the night to sleep. The rooms and balconys are in shade from around 11.30am so this is great for cooling down after a hard day at the pool.
The pool was immaculate but the water was cloudy the first few days after a problem with the filters so we never tried it. At this time of year one side of the pool gets all the sun all day and the other side of the pool loses the sun around midday. Not a problem for us as the pool area never seemed to get really busy so the shade end never got used but wouldn't like to fight for a sunny spot if all the beds had to be used.
We ate twice at the Ariadne purely for convnience, a burger after a long days travelling and a breakfast before we were picked up to return home. Both meals were delicious and freshly cooked to order and reasonably priced. The beer (mythos) was 5 euro for two but the magners was 5 euro fifty a bottle.... bit steep but cooled us off nicely as the weather was in the high twentys all the time we were there... We only needed a cardigan on two occasions at night and it would have been no hardship had we not taken cardigans. It rained for 2 hours monday night which was while we were eating so apart from that it was perfect. Just nice to lie all day without the need for the shade of an umbrella.
If your plan is to chill through the day and eat out a night this is the place to go. Tsilivi has some fabulous restaurants and shops with a great supermarket at the bottom of the hill. We wont return purely because there is a big wide world to be explored however we had a great holiday and will certainly recommend the place to anyone who is visiting Zante....

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor as the ground floor rooms appeared a bit dark.

Spent the second week of Sept here and it was just what we needed.
A lovely break in clean, spacious accomodation.
Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The resort is buzzing with lots going on and everyone well behaved but having
good fun.
We are mid sixties but the hill was no problem at all, in fact we looked forward
to the walk after lying on the beach for the day!

Room Tip: book early to get the advantage of the rooms with the best views

This was our first trip to Tsilivi having sampled Alikanas 3 times previously. First impressions last and the immediate thing you notice is how clean the hotel and rooms are. The staff are all friendly and it's handy having Pamela who can give you help and advice a plenty. Don't know where the previous bad review was staying but it certainly wasn't here! The pool is meticulously cleaned every night (we watched from the balcony every night) and if there are any other 'desirables' I certainly didn't see them. As for the 'hill', it's a little steep in 2 places but to be honest, it's nice when your walking off your dinner although I must admit, a few trips to the supermarket in the midday sun were tough! If you want a nice quiet stay away from the hustle and bustle I would recommend a stay here. We were also flabbergasted that in week 1 of our stay, you could get to the pool at 10am and get a sun bed with very little 'reservation'. Shame it was spoilt in week 2 by a few who felt the need to do that very famous German sun bed thing from about 8:30am. Personally, I would have liked to have had WiFi available or even an Internet computer that worked (both were broken) and we felt that €2 for a can of pop was a bit expensive by the bar but the food was nice and not that badly priced considering what you got. Overall, myself, my wife and my daughter enjoyed our 2 week stay (19 Aug to 2 Sep) an would definately book again. A very restful 2 weeks indeed.
