Just got back from the Petros Hotel, and a very relaxing and peaceful holiday, Hotel is clean, staff very friendly especially steph at the pool bar wicked dry sense of humour. Will agree about beds being hard (thats not the word ) but you get used to them. Breakfast very poor not even a toaster, didn't bother with breakfast only once then had breakfast at pool bar couple of times good value for money. Five min walk to town many excellent places to eat. would recommend Petrol to any one just able to chill out and relax. Back next year

We have just returned from a week in Zante staying at the Petros Hotel. The hotel is what you would expect for the price, fairly basic, the rooms are basic but clean with the option to pay extra for air conditioning and fridge. We didn't need the air con as it wasn't stifling at night. Great swimming pool and Stefanos at the bar is extremely friendly.

We made the trip to Zante as we are planning on returning in 2011 to get married, so wanted to check the place out on a cheap deal. First impressions of Zante can be deceiving - having stayed on a few of the Greek Islands (Kefalonia, Samos) Zante does not have the charm of these, and is quite commercialised with lots of tourist-y bars offering English grub! However, on closer consideration the amazingly friendly Greek people in all the places we visited make the holiday. If you look a bit harder there are some lovely Greek style restaurants serving the traditional Greek food that we wanted - Valentinas Castle deserves a special mention - it was outstanding (we went back 4 times). We would also highly recommend hiring a car and discovering the rest of the Island - we drove round the Island in one day which cost 35 Euros for the car hire.

The hotel itself was perfect for us - far enough away from the main strip to be quiet and peaceful (apart from the Cockerel @ 4am!!), but close enough so that in 10-15 minutes you can hit the bars and the beach.

The one negative would be the hard beds, although for us this was not a major issue (there is a massage chair in the lobby if it gets too bad :-).

Yes, the breakfast is also basic, as other reviews have mentioned, but it was fine for us. If you want a lie in, there is the option of a traditional breakfast from the pool bar which is served from 10-12 and was excellent value at 4 Euros for Full English, Toast, Orange Juice (real stuff, not the diluted provided at the included breakfast) and a big cup of tea.

All in all a lovely surprise hotel, we would definitely recommend if you fancy a bit of peace and quiet but still want to enjoy the livelier parts just a short walk away.

An we are definitely returning next year to get married - whether we stay at Petros again we don't know, but it would definitely be an option.

The hotel itself is nice, and the breakfast is better than I expected having read reveiews on Trip Advisor- it is a basic continental breakfast- fruit, cereal, yoghurt, bread, ham, cheese, eggs, but watch out for the hot water/coffee machine- you have to hold it while you press the button so it doesn't fall over, and it drips the previous drink into your cup when you press the button!
The pool was also really nice and we enjoyed the location- a nice walk into town.
However, the beds are shocking- it is like sleeping on a plank with a brick to put your head on. We asked for extra pillows on the first night but this didn't really help. Also, whilst our shower was OK, the shower in my parents' room was awful- it sprayed all over the floor and water came back up though the drain on the floor. And the toilet roll didn't get replenished even when empty and when we ased for some at reception, we were given one roll which again was not replaced when it was empty, so we had to go out and buy some.
All in all, the hotel was OK, and we had a great holiday (despite it raining three times!) but if you are a light sleeper like me, you will find it hard to sleep on the uncomfortable beds, so I wouldn't stay here agin.

Typical realistic greek hotel, friendly people, guests as well as staff.
Had mixed weather, found some great bars, savage garden being one of the best.
Lunch at the alexandria on the beach was really something else, on the way back to hotel Yiannis bar had something exciting happening everytime.

Petros rooms were lovely and clean, very adequate.
Breakfast was an experience but became something we laughed at.
Pool bar came to life at night, Stepanos the bar man being the main entertainment, although he needed help to make a grasshopper. We all had lots of fun especially when the company i was with was 6 women and 1 man although the 3 sisters from brussels gave our one man (bill) a bit of a challenge =]

Would definately stay again

maybe ; )

A great little hotel for those on a budget.

The staff were always accommodating and polite - although attention to detail and a lack of English caused some customers some aggravation - you are getting what you paid for but that doesn't meant this hotel is bad. In fact, if you ignore the rather poor breakfasts on order - and head into town for a bite to eat instead - this hotel is perfect.

It is located away from the main strip of Tsilivi so it's quiet but close enough for the walk into town or to the beach. The hotel is clean and the cleaning staff were brilliant - if you needed anything doing they would do it. Reception was always 'manned' and the reception staff (who spoke great English) were polite and extremely helpful. It always helps to befriend the staff - they'll be more willing to help a nice customer rather than a grumpy aggressive one.

Rooms come with everything you need - a safe, air-con etc. but of course at an additional cost - which wasn't unreasonable. Word of warning though - the beds are extremely hard and you only get one pillow as standard - ask for another and some extra blankets to soften the bed. The shower - although uncontrollable (water everywhere!) was good enough - it did the job - but hot water is limited so you need to get in there before the other guests do.

The pool area is small but ideal - out of peak season the outside bar is closed but there is one inside if you need to grab any refreshments.

Tsilivi is beautiful, one of the best places to stay on the island (I just hope it doesn't turn into another Laganas, dont bother going there it will make you feel depressed) and this hotel compliments the town perfectly.

Be patient, be polite, enjoy the area and you'll have a great time.

Beds are bloody hard as some of the other travellers have said before. We had a room that overlooked the pool. Weather was excellent from 90-105 every day, pool was very pleasant. Katerina was very polite as were all the staff. Breakfast is continental but plentiful. Walk to the beach 15mins. There is 2 parts to island and unfortunately this part was bloody expensive - 3 euros for a small cup of coffee! Whilst a car trip up the road was 1 euro, do get car hire as it is worth driving around the island. Do the round the island boat trip as it is fab! get to jump off boat in various small beach areas, snorkelling was great. We didn't do the turtle boat trip as some had done this and all they saw was a dead turtle! LOL Would we go back to this place nope but that is not because of the hotel or the actual island just because it is so expensive and you are ripped off wherever you go e.g. beach paragliding they wanted £75 for 15mins!

we have just got back this evening from tsilivi. we stayed at the petros hotel. our first 4 days we had no hot water in taps or most importantely the shower. we were told water was heated by solar power, as it was cloudy for the first few days we had lukeb warm water to wash in. not very good. also the breakfast was very poor although edible, we had boiled eggs, bread, yogurt with tinned peaches and greek honey which was actually very nice. i bought some from the local shop to take home. the staff was very minimal, consisting of one cleaner, poor woman, and 2 reception staff, one was more friendly than the other, also the same one also more helpful. all in all we made the most of our holiday and met some really nice people called colin and corinne from gloucester. but we will not be going back to zante in the dnear future. some really good resturants, BENIKOS, APPOLLON, ATHENA,. OUR FAVOURITE PLACE WAS PARADISE BAR, WE HAD LOTS OF FUN AND LOTS OF COCKTAILS, STAVROS AND TONY WERE EXCELLENT BARMEN AND REALLY MADE YOU WELCOME. BUT PARADISE BAR DOES NOT SERVE FOOD.
