Everything about the Filoxenia Hotel is amazing. We were made welcome from the moment we got there and felt totally at home. The place was so clean and tidy, the bedrooms were gorgeous. The view from our balcony was beautiful. Lots of reviews I've read on here have mentioned the staff and rightly so. Every single member of staff were brilliant; the receptionists, the bar staff, the people working in restaurant, the shuttle bus driver - everyone! I have to say a special mention to Luca who was the highlight of our holiday; he carried our cases for us, made sure we always had a drink, told us the best places to visit in Tsivili, kept us entertained and just had a really good chat with him. What a lovely guy who clearly loved his job! The food was super and the chef was such a character. I am a bit of a fussy eater but there was something for everyone.
The hotel is close to the bars/supermarkets etc which was really handy. Also the (free!) shuttle bus to the beach was much appreciated (the beach was lovely and the sea the most beautiful blue). The pool areas were kept very clean and there were enough sun loungers, so no having to run and put your towel down early! Overall, I can't rate this hotel enough. I will definitely be going back again, without a doubt.

My daughter and I spent 7 days at the Filoxenia. We received a lovely welcome when we arrived. We were given a refreshing drink and our cases were carried to our room, by the lovely Luca, who was attentive and brilliant all week. Our room was "green" - lights and accessories - which we loved. We had a veiw looking out over the pool and accross the Zante countryside. The room was spotlessly clean and was kept so all week, by the maids. Every member of staff was amazing, no one could stay at the Filoxenia and not be impressed with them. Nothing was too much trouble and they were genuinely glad to treat you as part of their "family". The food was delicious and everyone gives Andreas a mention and rightly so - but I have to mention "sweet man" who made the most scrumptious desserts ever! Daniel (my love) kept us entertained in the restaurant all week along with Gramos. The bus ride to the beach was appreciated, and the driver was a nice bit of eye candy. We just loved our holiday and can't recommend this hotel enough - we will definitely return next year.

We stayed for 2 weeks what a lovely holiday. Very warm greetings from all of the staff on arrival the Manager took us to our spacious room which was very clean and comfortable. The resteraunt was very clean and modern but it was very difficult to squeeze between the tables sometimes. The staff were very efficient especially thanks to Anna and Marie who do the work of one and a half people and a very special mention to Andreas who work very hard to vary the food also thank to the kitchen staff who you never get to see and they must work very very hard in all that heat. The food was varied and very varied and plentifull. There were a few strange moments like rice pud for breakfast. I was good not to have chips on the menu everyday but they did turn up for breakfast on occasion.. Both Lucca and Gerry work very hard making sure you always had a full glass we found Lucca very funny in a nice way. Entertainment was no more thank we expected ok if you like bingo and karaoke. The walk to the beach is very flat but takes about 30mins but you can use the Hotel mini bus but you need to asked the driver the pick times.
I would also like to say how lovely and helpful Angela and Diana were on reception. We hired a car for 80 euroes for 3 days and we felt it was well worth it and we paid a lot less for the boat trips 5 euroes. All in all a lovely holiday and Hotel spoilt only by the badly behaved Parents of 2 small boys. We would reccomend this Hotel. just like to say what lovely friends we made who in turn made us a lovely holiday

Booked for two weeks at this hotel. Wasn't the original hotel which only showed a rating of 49% for food therefore changed to this one which showed an average of 89%. The location wasn't ideal for us as it was a 15 to 20 minute walk to Tsilivi, but did have a minibus for guest use to and from beach and town.
Before describing the hotel can I just say that we were aware it was near the end of the season so some wear and tear was understandable. Initially we were disappointed as reception was small and slightly run down and the hotel was on two plots on a corner of a busy road. Each plot had its own pool which were very clean and well maintained.
We had requested a high floor away from the pool bar and a spacious room which is what we got, exactly. The room was big, with two double beds, bathroom and kitchen and a large mural running the whole length of the room. The bathroom was a bit grotty but after a couple of days we just cleaned it up ourselves. I think this was just a careless maid rather than anything else. She was nice and friendly and came everyday. At this point I most state that the hotel's main attraction has to be the staff. Without exception they were all friendly and helpful.
My main gripe was the food. For the first week my wife had only pasta, as all other choices were poor. The chef was always saying if you don't see what you want just ask, but that is not always practical. Would rather see a good choice on the servery. Fifty percent was always salad including one cold pasta. Normally there would be another two hot pastas with a choice of sauce. One fish dish of unidentifiable species. There would be a chicken dish which was mainly legs, wings and backbone, yes backbone with a thick sauce. The final straw for me was a potato pie made with dried potato (smash). I complained, and after being confronted by the chef and having a meaningful discussion, the food improved vastly. Had it been that good on the first week there would have been no problem. The dining room was newly refurbished but had too many tables in and it could be difficult to negotiate from your table to servery and back.
My other gripe was entertainment, or lack of it. Two separate bars, the main pool bar and a secondary one open when there was entertainment. A greek night every week, The Shenangans, a duo which only one turned up, and got progressively drunker as the night wore on, on both weeks and a girl who only did one show as she was going home the next morning so stayed dressed in her travelling clothes. It must have been difficult for the entertainment staff as the guests seemed to be mixed Brit, Romanian and Danish so quizzes were quite difficult. Apart from the pool bar there was really no comfortable public area to sit on an evening, and the pool bar wasn't comfortable. Most of the time it was like being in a care home, cards, dominos, darts, pool and table football. Entertainment doesn't have to be a live show some music would do.

Room Tip: Stay away from pool bar and have a high room

Hello JonBee!

Thank you very much for taking the time to add your review on Filoxenia hotel and for choosing to share your thoughts with the rest of us.

First of all, on behalf of all the staff and family i would like to say a big thank you for your kind words on our people and for giving them a special credit for their work and personality.
I would like to express my frustration for the fact that our hotel and services did not succeed to meet the 100% of your needs and expectations.

Please know that all of your comments will be seriously taken into serious consideration by our staff and management. Our presence here is to improve ourselves throughout your comments and suggestions.

Even though our guest satisfaction standards are very high concerning our food, we apologize that in the first week of your stay we did not have something in our buffet that meet your criteria. I wish that the discussion you made with Andreas could happen during your first days of your holidays as he would do some changes for you on the spot. I am glad though that the second week you managed to find something you fancy.

With regards to the entertainment, i will take your final comment as a suggestion and try to work it on my mind. I agree that music is a vital factor to keep someone entertained. We are always thirsty for our guest’s ideas and i would like to thank you for this tip. That can ignite a big discussion between our staff and our entertainment team and i am sure that something will come up. Our entertainers are doing a very hard job and they are always there to keep everyone happy. As you correctly said the nationality issue can make it very complex and maybe this is something else that we can work on.

Well, that was just a note to say thank you for giving us your light in many issues. We all hope that we will have the opportunity to have a second chance from you, to prove you that we are always here to make your holidays pleasant in our home. Thank you very much for spending sometime to go through our response. Have a warm and safe winter.

Me, my mum, and my two boys stayed here from 27th Sept until 4th October. Overall we had a brilliant, relaxing (as relaxing as you can be with 2 kids under 4!) time.

As we got off our early morning flight from Newcastle it was already in the high 20's, the weather was incredible for the time of year. We were the first drop off stop from the airport so the transfer was relatively quick.

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a huge flight of steps up to the entrance. Now this would be fine, however with a 8 month old, a 4 year old and a pushchair its a bit of a nightmare. There is a little outdoor lift but it was out of order for the whole duration of the stay so we had to carry the pushchair up the stairs for breakfast, lunch and tea each day.

We were shown to our room (back down the stairs we go) first impressions were "wow" the rooms are gorgeous. Basic but gorgeous. We paid the €20 for the air con so it was a cool haven for us to escape out the 30+ degree heat. The bathroom had a nice sized bath and a shower which soaked the whole bathroom everytime it was turned on. We had 2 seperate rooms, the beds were huge but were really hard and we only got one pillow. Overall the room was good for what we needed it for, sleeping and bathing.

Now, my favourite part of this hotel was the food! It is cooked to such a high standard and there was plenty choice. As my 4 year old boy is a fussy eater, the chef would make him whatever he wanted, usually chicken nuggets and chips! I have no faults at all with the food, its amazing. The restaurant staff are all so helpful and friendly and amazing with the children.

The hotels biggest let down is the entertainment during the day. I seen the odd game of water polo n that was it, there was pretty much nothing for the children. Even at nighttime there's nothing for the children.

The kids pool is small but i could imagine in summer months it gets quite crowded. The two big pools are standard, nothing amazing. The cleanliness is average, Infact cleanliness of whole hotel is average

on Wednesday (last full day off the holiday) i suffered extreme sickness and diarriah (unsure of spelling) for 24hours, i was stuck in my hotel room, at first i thought it was the food, but when the next day when we were due to fly home my mum was sick badly for the full flight and until about 2 days back into England. As we were leaving we seen a couple who told us a few of the families in the hotel had been struck with the same bug. Unfortunately for my otherhalf who we'd left at home, when we arrived back, we passed the bug to him too.

Overall the holiday was great, its not the best one I've been on, but its not the worst! We will be back :) great as a cheap getaway

Hello sammiarmani!

Thank you so much for taking the time to add your review on Filoxenia hotel and for choosing to share you thoughts with the rest of us.

First of all, we would like to say that we are very happy that our hotel and our services succeeded on meeting yours and your family needs. Thank you very much for your kind words on this matter.

We would like to say that we are very sorry for the fact that you had a flu on the last day of your holidays. I am afraid that this is something that cannot be avoided from happening. Especially when the temperature is very high, that would be ideal for these bugs to survive and spread. I hope that your recovery was fast.

On behalf of all the staff and family i would like to express our appreciation for your kind words on what we offer on our buffet. Andreas is doing a very good job always making sure that every single guest is happy. Thank you very much for rewarding him with your feedback.

I also saw that during your stay you had a problem with our entrance lift. According to our reception records, i see that the lift was our of order for two days and after the technician came to fix the damage, it worked perfectly. I am trying to figure out the reason you thought it was out of order for the whole duration of your stay. To make the lift working you need to have the button pressed until you reach to the reception level, otherwise it does not start. The only thing i can guess is that you missed to see that. I hope that i am right. In any case, i would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused to you as i understand that it is hard to carry a pushchair all the time.

As for the cleanliness, i am very surprised to hear that you were not satisfied. Our maids are very hard working ladies and they are always willing to assist you anyway they can. Even if your asked for some pillows, it would be their pleasure to hand you some. The scores they achieve are very high and our guests seem to be very happy with our cleanliness standards. It would be very useful for us if we knew on the spot what the problem was, so we could fix it immediately. I am sorry that this did not happen in your case.

Well, despite the drawbacks you had, we all hope that we will have the chance to accommodate you once again. We believe that given a second chance we will be able to serve you better and whatever you ask us we will go our of our way to assist you as these problems you had, could be fixed at no time unless we knew.

Thank you so much again for going through our response and we hope we will see you back sometime in the future. Please know that our home is always open for you and our staff will be on the spot to serve you with a smile. Have a great time back home and stay safe...Regards from all the staff and family..

Just got back from a fantastic two week holiday transfer to hotel only 15mins, on arrival we were greeted with a drink which was a lovely touch, as soon as you arrived you were treated as part of the family nothing too much trouble. Rooms spacious, nicely decorated and clean if you wanted to make yourself something to eat or drink you had a kettle, microwave, toaster and 2 rings to use, we were over the quieter side which suited us perfect. Staff went out of their way to please everyone after a few days the bar staff jerry and lucas remembered what you were drinking, plenty of choice meal wise if you couldnt find anything you fancied the chef alberto was happy to make you something else, i had the biggest pancake id ever seen one morning. Reception was staffed by two lovely ladys who couldnt have been more helpfull, one morning we were going on a trip early and they arranged the hotel mini bus to take us to the habour at no extra cost.

The walk into tsilivi was about 10 minutes and beach a bit further, plenty of sunbeds and parasols to hire for the day the beach shelved gently into the sea. The sea was lovely, warm and clear you could see the fish swimming all around you, if you wanted excitement there were jet skis, pedlos etc to hire. An excursion i would recommend is Levante speed boat trips with Captain Spiros we done the morning trip wish we had time to do both trips excellent !! Plenty to do in the town shops, bars and various restaurants to suit all.

Were really glad we picked this hotel it made our holiday !
