The Bungalow garden view rooms are very basic. The only nice thing about it is the sea view. the bathrooms are in need of a update, and renovation. The food is average, and basic and menu repetitive. Not my idea of a five star hotel as as strated on website. Overall the hotel needs a good face lift and renovating, not impressed!

Read a few negative reviews before visiting the sunshine hotel but were all unfounded. Yes, if you stay in one of the bungalows be prepared for steps but for the average, reasonably fit person this isn't a problem...there are lifts to lower pool and the beach which are handy. Staff were great, arrived on a late flight but had drinks and food laid on for our arrival. Waiting staff were efficient and had room made up every day without fail, bungalows quite basic but had everything you need for sleeping and showering and were quite spacious. Loads of entertainment but no pressure to join in if you just wanted to relax, animation team were great and very friendly putting on shows every night. Helps if you have a basic understanding of French as most of entertainment was primarily in french with a little translation but didn't affect our enjoyment. Largely French and German guests with a few other European countries represented but was nice not to have English "lager louts" everywhere! Food was good, large choice with the option of eating in the pool side snack bar for lunch...the best chicken wings I've ever had though I think its worth eating out at one of the local tavernas once or twice to avoid food becoming too repetative, the Vitamins taverna about ten minutes walk away was superb. Well worth hiring a boat for the day and visiting some of the bays further up the coast, this can be done from the hotel or follow the coast path from the hotel beach to the next bay where you can also book. Overall the hotel was great and plan to return next year which is something I have never done before, there were so many other things I would like to do and see!

It amazes me why people are writing complaints about the hotel saying "not a 5 star" as it not even advertised as one. It is excellent value for money .All of the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you !!! The food was good with plenty of choice, and the rooms in the hotel were lovely and very clean . Dont book a garden bungalow if you have problems walking as they are built on the hill side in the gardens, and unfortunately have loads of steps. The entertainment was in French but still enjoyable. THE VIEW well what can I say "they are outstanding !!!! fr om everywhere in the hotel !!! If you are looking for a good hotel with great facilities and amazing views ,well this is the hotel for you !!!Can't wait to back to First choice and book again !!

Room Tip: Book a twin room with garden view or sea view

I have just recently come back from this hotel, and basically not impressed at all. I spent a week here with my sister and we both could'nt wait to get back to the uk. our room was tiny with 2 single beds in it. The bathroom was absolutly filthy with mould growing all over the sink and bath, i could go into detail about this problem but im sure you get the jist. The food was repetative and very basic, had chicken wings for dinner a few days we were there, could of stayed at home and had chicken wings. If you do decide to try this hotel for yourself make sure you have enough euro's on you because the hotel does not change pound stering, and you have to travel to corfu town by bus which takes approximatly 40mins.The hotel catered more for their french guests, and was more french dominated. It definatley wasn't value for my money. On a brighter note the hotel staff were very friendly and made you feel very welcome. We just had to make the most of it while we were there and the weater was great. I will not be going back there.

Room Tip: book one of their suite rooms

Having just come back from 2 weeks at The Sunshine Vacation Club, I can confirm that pretty much which has been written before has been accurate, even going back to Mrs N Swanwick's post in Aug 2008, although it seems to be cheaper now, as we paid £1,200 for 2 people, All Inc, and you can rent a car from Tollis (at the main gate) for €35. (Quads and Scooters are less)
The rooms are a bit basic, the beds are very uncomfortable, having only CNN to watch on the 22 channel TV's means you get to hear nothing of the outside world, but with a hotel full of French tourists, there is plenty of hot water.
"Brits Abroad" have had a terrible reputation in the past, but I would take them over the incredibly rude and arrogant Gallic’s who will take every opportunity to get into the lifts before you can get out, jump queues in the restaurants, and hold shouting conversations at all hours of the day. Don't expect to hear 'Excusez-moi' too often!
We didn't have any real problems with wasps...maybe that issue has been tackled, or maybe it was the time of year, but I did get more than my fair share of mozzie bites (although my girlfriend was pretty much untouched, so I guess that’s the luck of the draw!)
Outside of the rooms, the hotel is generally clean, and every single member of staff was fantastic. From reception, the bars, shop, and restaurants, if you needed anything, they were very happy to help (Although I find that a few words of conversational Greek can get you noticed, instead of talking louder, and waving your hands around!)
Please be careful with the steps though...they can go from a uniformed size and shape to uneven at random moments, and being on the side of a very steep hill, there are plenty of them. There aren't any toilets close to the bars, so you will need to climb some, and at night, after a few ouzos accidents happen. At least three people during our stay were in plaster and on crutches caused buy misjudging steps.
The animation team try hard, but as they work for a French company, and are generally there to entertain the French guests, don't expect too much in the way of fluent translations...if any. Saying that, one or two go out of their way to include guests from other countries, which was greatly appreciated. The evening entertainment is on a seven-day cycle, so once you have stayed a week, it will be exactly the same the following week.
The pool areas were well kept, and getting sun beds was never a problem, although seating on the balcony in the evening could be a bit tricky.
Taxis are bit pricey, but at the time of writing, in the UK it's around £1.30 per litre, and would be about £1.50 (€1.75) in Corfu. A taxi from Nissaki to Corfu Town will set you back around €30...and don't forget you are coming back too! Busses are infrequent, and tent to stop in the late afternoon...so the last one back from Corfu Town is around 16.20. You are better off spending a couple of days poolside, asking the staff where they would recommend, and hiring a car from Tollis for a couple of days.
The food is reasonable buffet fare, but gets very repetitive, very quickly. There was a great selection of eggs for breakfast (fried, boiled, omelette, scrambled) but bacon made an appearance once every seven days.
So to sum up....
Cons: Rude French, terrible beds, food uninteresting, steps that can snap your legs, toilets placed at random locations.
Pros: Wonderful staff, amazing views, good value.
Would I recommend it? Yes...as a seven day holiday, as fourteen days was grating by the end.
Would I go back? Probably not. It was good, but I've had better.

Room Tip: When booking, tell them you have mobillity issues!

Me, my husband and 10 year old step son have just returned from this hotel. While the hotel itself is nice, the rooms are defintely dated. The sealant on the bath was mouldy, under the beds was dusty and there was a cobweb by the side of one of the beds. The beds were rock hard and we were provided with one hard pillow each. I had about 2-3 hours sleep every night! Very uncomfortable. We didnt get any clean towels for three days and there was a big hole in the mesh on the window. The hotel boasts satellite TV - it was an old box TV with 22 channels, one of which was in English and was CNN. Most people we spoke to agreed that the rooms werent great, and certainly not 4* but the rest of the hotel was nice and clean. Since unlike my other half i dont like to stay in the sun for too long i prefer to chill in the rooms for a few hours while away, but definetly couldnt do that here. We did kayaking in the moring that was free. Would have liked to use the indoor gym but they wanted 15 Euros a day! and there was only a few running machines and a few other pieces of equipment. It was a good hotel for families as the kids were allowed to stay up with the adults till 2am if they wanted to. The food was really good. We didnt go to the Greek or Italian restaurants as you had to book the day before at 6pm and the queues were huge by then. All the entertainment was in French (bar some English translation) which was a bit of a let down. After reading the reviews i was apprehensive since all the reviews are mixed. Though the rooms and entertainment were a let down, on the whole i enjoyed my stay but i wouldnt return or recommend it to friends due to the rooms.

This hotel, although probably not a 5* in English standards but on the whole, for what we paid it was excellent value. Staff were very friendly and the rooms needed updating but were clean. We stayed in bungalow which was very peaceful and had stunning views. You certainly came back fitter than when you went - climbing those steps was a bit hard at times and even to get out of the hotel was exhausting but you just have to think that it's doing you good! We got the local bus to Cassiopi and the views travelling along the cliff were fantastic. The buses do not run too often and there are none in the evening so you are limited if you want to get out after dinner. There were a lot of disgruntled people who were fed up with the french entertainment team and I agree that they tended to just entertain the french! The didn't speak much English and it was hard trying to join in a quiz when they rattled out the questions in French and then at the end gave a few words in English. It would be a really good idea if they got a couple of english speaking entertainers. The beach is shingle but a little bit of sand which the kids were building sandcastles. Water was beautiful and clear, fish swimming round your feet! All in all well worth the money we paid.
