We rarely visit the same place twice but loved our holiday at the Alexandra Golden Boutique so much that we decided to return this year - a brilliant decision!!
We had such a warm welcome that we felt relaxed as soon as we set foot inside the hotel. A lovely touch was a bottle of wine welcoming us back, we were very touched by this.
The hotel is so peaceful with every member of staff making sure that your holiday is perfect. The adults only policy is a major factor of our decision to stay at The Alexandra Boutique, this means that you are able to enjoy hotel and beach in peace.
This year a new addition is a beach bar, we spent time relaxing here every day with drinks and/or lunch - the club sandwich is fantastic! Breakfast is wonderful and is served from 8-12 with a varied choice every day. we always ate at 8am and loved the quiet start to our day.
Every area of the hotel is spotless and luxurious, cleaners and maintenance staff do a wonderful job.
I would like to make special mention of George - what a wonderful young man, an asset to the hotel! Also Katerina, so friendly and efficient.
This year we had two couples' massages and I highly recommend this- absolutely gorgeous.
There are a number of restaurants both in Golden Beach and in Skala Potamia. Our favourites were Playa d'Oro, Finikas, Green Sea and Karambousa.
Skala Potamia is a bit busier than Golden Beach if you prefer this.

We hired a jeep for 2 days, this is worth doing. Highlights of our days were -

- a visit to Kastro to see the House of Bones - also visit the only taverna for an interesting chat with Kostas
- a relaxing afternoon at Agios Iannis Beach with a delicious lunch at the beach bar. This is a gorgeous cove with beautiful clear water
- Thassos town including a visit to Costis the potter- this is a must do, he has some gorgeous pieces, all hand made in the pottery

The Thomson's rep was James. Welcome meetings are often rather tedious affairs but James did an excellent job. We were very impressed with his local knowledge and he was so helpful, leaving a little tip for enhancing your holiday most days at reception.

We may break the habit of a lifetime and return again next next year!!!
Well done Alexandra Boutique - absolutely first class.

We stayed at the Alexandra Golden middle of May 2013 for my husband's birthday. It was by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. All the staff work so hard to make your holiday wonderful - and it truly was. We stayed in a sea view room and yes the rooms are not massive but they are not tiny by any means. They were immaculately cleaned every day which is what matters.

The al a carte food was amazing. So delicious. Cooked to perfection. I skipped the soup most days as the portions are huge and this was no problem to arrange. At breakfast you had plenty of choice from cooked food, fruit, cold meats and cereal etc. You must try the fresh omlettes they were so fluffy and yummy!

The location is heavenly. Beautiful and peaceful. There are more restaurants and bars a bit further down the beach if you like things a bit livelier. The beach has a section reserved just for guests meaning no children therefore was soooo relaxing. We loved the pool are too. Plenty of sunbeds and the staff bring your drinks to you.

The staff really make the Alexandra Golden. We were greeted on the steps on arrival and they spoilt my husband for his birthday. We enjoyed a couples massage which was very relaxing and not that expensive. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to go back. 5/5 every time.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room on a high floor.

We stayed 2 weeks at beginning of July and having come last year were worried that it may not be as good. However, our worries were in vain as we had a fabulous stay and although there had been some changes of staff, the service was as friendly and efficient as ever. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone, from the Receptionists, Corinna & Alex to the Maids and maintenance men.
As last year the travel arrangements worked like clockwork and it was lovely to have a taxi rather than sitting on a coach with various pick up points. The rep, James was accessible and helpful. we hired a car for a day which was great and enabled us to sample more of the Island although we were quite happy lounging on the beach where there was always a welcome breeze. The pools are very clean and never busy so no problem with sunbeds and everywhere is so peaceful especially with no children around!
We had room 605 which was lovely and overlooked one of the pools. Good size, although should be noted the standard rooms booked through Thomsons described as Junior Suites are not suites but just a decent size room. There is a fridge, kettle with teas & coffee and a decent size balcony with comfortable table and chairs, ideal for a drink before dinner.
The food as last time was AMAZING. We got a special deal and stayed half board and enjoyed every single dinner. The chef is so imaginative and we had a different menu every night for 2 weeks. Apparently they have had a few complaints that it is too Greek! Unbelievable if that is the case. If you want chips or potatoes with every meal then you will be disappointed but for good quality, fine dining this is the place to be. The service by Gregory & Simos is great and this year they have Yannis to meet & greet, a very competent team. The wines are fairly priced too and we enjoyed the House white at 15 euros a bottle.
Breakfast too was great with an amazing choice. I think I read a review where someone said they got bored with them. I cannot understand this as there is everything you could possibly want, cereals with extra dried fruits & nuts, different breads, hot foods such as omelette, fried eggs, bacon, mushrooms, pancakes made to order, fresh fruit platter, yoghurts, ham, salad, cheeses. Tea & coffee is brought to your table so no queuing at machines and champagne every other day.
If you enjoy peace & quiet, excellent service, lovely beach & pools this is the place for you. If you want entertainment every night and chips with your meal, go somewhere else!

Room Tip: Rooms 307-312 face the sea, out from the hotel. 604-606 also have good seaview and overlook pool.

We stayed at this more then "welcoming" hotel in June for our wedding anniversary and from the moment we stepped out of our taxi the staff were there to greet you.we instantly fell in love with the wonderful sense of calm that surrounded the hotel and that feeling stayed with us for the 2 weeks we were there. The hotel is simply stunning, the beautiful grounds to potter about in to admire the lovely flowers and of course to stand on the bridge to see if you could spot the "turtles" in reeds beneath it,that was one of my highlights of my day.we had a seaview room (307) and have to say it was immaculate they had also left us a lovely bottle of wine and fruit for our anniversary, which got our holiday of to a great start.if you want a holiday that gives you calm, relaxation, fantastic sevice, the most amazing "food" then look no further that Alexandra Golden Boutique hotel it is so deserving of it's five star rating.we would like to say that all members of staff from the manageress, receptionist's,restaurant and bar personnel, the maids and last of all the maintenance guys could not do enough for you, they deliver a first class service. This was our first time to Thassos and it won't be our last as we thought it was a beautiful unspoilt island.we could not have asked for anything more from the hotel or island as we simply fell in love with both!!!
We will hope to go back again next year and we would like to thank everyone for making our holiday a truly "wonderful" one.

Room Tip: Seaview room

After a grim start to the year my husband decided we needed a luxury holiday with sun, good food and good wine and this is what we got. We looked at hundreds of hotels and resorts and decided on Thassos and the Alexandra Golden Boutique Hotel.
We booked for a week in a sea view room, upon arrival we were upgraded to a room with Jacuzzi and private pool, FANTASTIC. upon arrival we instantly recognised quiet, relaxation and tranquillity. Our room was out of this world, 2 balconies to sit in the evening with our Bacardi and coke and Jack Daniels reading our books, our own pool to swim in the morning before breakfast was ideal.
The food was amazing and soon realised to miss out the starter because there was so much within the other courses. The thing that made it for us was the timing of breakfast, 8am - 12pm, no alarm clock set for 7 days, we went for breakfast around 11am which was perfect, this is what a holiday is all about.
We went for a walk along the beach each way and found some great beach bars and sat in the sun with a large mythos, ideal holiday.
Plenty of tavernas and bars to walk to before our meal in the evening, staff fantastic in the hotel (Loved George, what a joy to meet and such a genuine nice guy).
My husband has a fear of no sunbeds if you get to the pool after 10am, no fear in this hotel, sunbeds available at 4pm no problem.
The ferry and taxi ride was planned to perfection, well done to Thomson Holidays, you did everything that was expected, all in all Fantastic Holiday, it was so relaxing I read 2 books which is unheard of.
If you want a week of doing nothing in the sun get to the Alexandra Golden Boutique Hotel, Loved it.

We visited this lovely hotel in July and were very impressed with the lovely setting and beautiful grounds.
We booked a room with our own pool and to some extent we felt that we had wasted our money. The pool was lovely but there was no shade at all for most of the day and it was too hot for us to use it. I would definitely book a room with a sea view next time as the pools within the hotel are quiet and always had sunbeds. No need for the additional pool expense !
We did have some issues with the smell in our room when we arrived and this was put right very quickly.
Hot water in the evening for showers was a problem for most of the fortnight. We have not experienced this problem in any of the 5 star hotels that we have stayed in before so we were a little disappointed.
I have rated this hotel as excellent as the overall holiday was really lovely. In particular I would recommend this hotel because of its attentive and brilliant staff. Nothing was ever any trouble and the warmth of everyone working at the hotel was second to none. Thanks especially to George who worked tirelessly around the pool and beach!
One tip regarding the half board option - the food is very nice and there is far too much of it. We had a Thompson's deal which meant that we payed very little to upgrade to half board. If we had not had this I would not have chosen to eat at the hotel as there are several really good taverna's nearby that are very good value for money.
We will definitely return !

From the minute we arrived at this hotel, the peace and tranquility greeted us and we instantly felt relaxed and calm, this feeling stayed with us throughout the whole of the holiday.

We were greeted by a happy and friendly receptionist, Corinna and after a speedy check-in, were promptly shown to our room, which was beyond our wildest dreams as we had been upgraded to a maisonette suite with a jacuzzi pool.
The rooms were cleaned each morning to a high standard and also visited again in the evening for a turn back service.

The restaurant was run efficiently by Yannis and his team, who were pleasant and helpful and did everything possible to make sure our needs were met.
The buffet breakfast was plentiful and had a good selection of fruits, yoghurt, hot and cold food,
cereals, pastries, cakes and drinks.
The 5 course a la carte evening meal comprised of soup, a starter, salad, main course and dessert - the Chef has to be complimented on the variety, quality, presentation and quantity of the meals provided.

The grounds of the hotel and pools are well maintained and attractively lit up each evening.
The hotel has it's own allocated beach area for hotel guests only with sun beds and parasols and provides a welcome bar service regularly throughout the day.
There were two evenings of musical entertainment, carefully chosen so you could enjoy listening to them whilst dining and afterwards, without spoiling the whole ethos of the hotel.
The spa and fitness centre was worth a visit and offered several therapies.

All in all, the Alexandra Boutique hotel is run well by it's Manageress, Konstantina and provides a most relaxing holiday for Adults only.

We don't normally return to the same hotel for a second visit, but this hotel is outstanding and we will certainly be returning again, hopefully next Summer.
Thank you to everyone for making our holiday so special,
Chris and Mike
