“Disaster”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

I travelled with 8 other people (we had reserved 5 apartments). Our party arrived at 6am after travelling all night only to find noone there and the apartment all locked up. The rep telephoned the owner who said he would come in half an hour to let us in. We were absolutely shattered but waited patiently for him to arrive. When eventually he did arrive and open up the apartments, they were filthy and just left from the last people leaving, complete with toilet bin full of dirty tissues, dirty unmade beds and mop bucket in middle of the floor. We told the owner that this wasnt acceptable but he took no responsibility for it whatsoever (blaming Thomas Cook). He was rude and nasty to everyone inlcuding the rep. We walked away with our cases into town and had coffee in the bakery as this was the only place open. We telephoned the Thomas Cook office at 11am and were told to go back as the apartments were now habitable. We didnt bother going to bed as by now we were past it. The apartment was unkempt, nothing worked properly. My sister got an electric shock from the hob, the shower was a joke, the hot and cold taps were on the wrong way round so I had a cold wash for 3 days before I realised this, we slept with a bat in our room for 3 nights flying around all night. There was even a mouse in one apartment. The owners father could speak no English but sure as hell he could communicate when any one of us left the outside light on, indicating crossly that it cost money and to turn it off. He crept around spying on everything we did. The place was in darkness every night so when we returned home from our meal we had to stumble around uneven ground to find our apartment. We do not expect much from Greece apart from cleanliness and a nice welcome. Having stayed in many places in the village, we have usually found families take pride in their apartments which are cherished and loved. Not so here Im afraid. I cant believe Thomas Cook are offering this to their customers again next year!

We arrived around 5.45a.m. last drop off from our airport coach, tired and looking forward to a rest. How wrong we were. The place had not one light on, and not a soul around to welcome us weary travelers. The Thomas Cook rep who accompanied us tried to contact someone who might let us in, meanwhile we stood miserably in the gloom. After about 20 minutes a man called George arrived shouting and throwing a tantrum! We stood open mouthed as he threw open doors to the dirty wood lice ridden studios! He was abusive to us all and shouted bitterly about our horrified complaints. We couldn't possibly unpack or even set foot in the place, instead we trudged wearily to the town dragging cases, and wishing ourselves back home. Eventually we found the bakery open, and sat thankfully whilst the obliging staff made coffee. After a hearty breakfast at a nearby hotel, we still hadn't had any help from Thomas Cook, and after ringing their office, we were told to go back and inspect the studios at 11.00am. They had been cleaned and made presentable for us, and we were too tired to do anything else but unpack.
The promised televisions weren't working, the pool bar never did open the whole time we were there. And after spending the next night there, a strange old man appeared in our apartment whilst I was in my nightdress, trying to tell me the cleanliness was superb!! Don't think so, then he ranted about money, money as i had inadvertently left my outside light on! I was not amused at his entrance when I wasn't dressed. He took his leave, only to bang on the back door as it seemed I had left the light on outside there too!! I was careful not to do that again for the rest of our stay.
This old man watched our every move the whole time we were there, he seemed to creep about and appear everywhere we went! His wife was no better and they seemed to shout and argue with each other rather a lot!
I love Corfu, this was my 5th visit and this was so unusual as family run places are usually run with pride, and we have always found the locals are willing to go the extra mile to show kindness. This family are the exception to the rule! Indeed we take chocolate to our old hosts, and receive Xmas cards with such pleasure every year, so it's usually almost like going home.
My advice is please don't waste your time and money on this place, there's many other better, like the Romanza and Tereza who will treat you with respect and do anything they can to help you enjoy your time with them. Then you will fall in love with this wonderful island and return many times to feed your soul!

This was our third time at the Mythos studios, there are only six studios 4 have upstair bedrooms, and two are ground floor. We were across the road from the Mythos in June at the Rose Garden, and people staying at the Mythos had all sorts of complaints about the place. We found that we had nothing to complain about. The studios are very large, clean, and airy. There was a distinct lack of kitchen equipment, like bread knives ( we took our own) and breakfast bowls, but there was a toaster, and Micro wave.
The pool was clean (with the pump running all day), new patio furniture, and the areas around the accommodation were kept very clean .
The bathroom was very small, certainly the hand basin is in the wrong place, the shower once you found out how to use the controls was adequate, and maybe the cleaner, who really was pretty good, should have used bleach more often around the toilet bowl and rim.
Thomas Cook / Manos advertise the Mythos as having the occasional BBQ nights Darts Quiz nights and a Bar !! for a drink either fill the fridge with your own, or cross the road to the Rose Garden, and there were no Quiz Nights, darts or BBQs !!
The studios are in a very quiet part of San Stefanos, a 15 -20 minute walk into the heart ot the village, but the bonus is they are very quiet on a night, apart from the local chicken population !!
The Best food we found at the Ozzy oil, and Yainnis, the Little Prince provides a long Menu and Greek dancing, and Dimitri Pippina and Michael make you welcome. The best bar for a drink we liked the 3Ws El Greco, and the Athens Bar.
My wife and I have been going to san Stefanos for many years, and have stayed in various accommodation around the place, and we would not be adverse to returning to the Mythos studios, it's like having your own villa. !!
My wife and I have been going to San Stefanos

Room Tip: I Prefer the ground floor studios, but other guests staying there preferred the upstairs bedroom

Disappointed to read earlier review, obviously the guests were staying early in the season. We stayed in Early July and there were no problems with any of those mentioned.
Yes the Brothers are scattered around the World but with the financial situation in Greece in it is not suprise. George (the Brother who works in Sidari) is available if required and his Father despite not being able to speak much English is very helpful - even supplying tomatoes, grapes and cucumber form his garden! They certainly seem friendlier than the people at the Rose Garden who like to look after their regulars.

Room Tip: All apartments (2 floors) are equally as good, studios are almost same area size but open plan and...

My Wife and I have Stayed at the Mythos Studios a couple of times in the past, the complex its self is relatively new ( about 8 years) we have booked it for September this year 2013, Whilst staying at the Rose garden complex opposite the Mythos we were alarmed at the complaints that people staying there reported to me. For instance no Patio Furniture, no pool side Parasols, shortage of cutlery, some had no kettle !!the site was being "looked after" by an old man who had no English only when he wanted something. The pool certainly did not look clean, and was not being used by the guests, in fact most of them went across the road and used the excellent facilities at the Rose Garden. Apparently the three brothers who own the Mythos are scattered to the wind, one in Athens, America and Sidari. the above problems should have been rectified prior to the start of the season by Thomas Cook, people have paid good money, and its not fair when a holiday is not what has been promised in the Brochure.
