“Villa Voula Agios Stefanos Corfu”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

We have just returned from Corfu after staying at villa voula. Beautifully clean appartments and with a view to die for. We overlooked the pool, olive groves, moutains and Arilas bay.
large selection of restaurants, bars down at the beach, ate there a couple of times at The little prince, very enjoyable. However after trying Maria's Moussaka at the villa we decided to investigate her menu further and what a joyous experience. There was no further need to go down to the beach for food as there was genuine local cuisine lovingly cooked on our doorstep. We called it our non religious Greek retreat !
You could not want for anyone more helpfull than Spiros who is always there to hand.
We even went a local beer festival at the micro brewery in Arilas which was brilliant and even got a lift home from Maria's band good fun.

Room Tip: pool side rooms views of olive groves and partial sea.

Friendly staff, you can enjoy by the seaside or at the pool which is very clean. The views are great because this hotel is pretty much uphill. I have a few things i would mention that i didn't like. For example, we couldn't even make a soup or pasta to eat because the electrical stove was very slow but the good thing is we asked the owner if we could make something outside the apartment, where we saw another stove pancakes and eggs and there was no problem. it also bothered me that wifi was nat in the room but only where the reception was, but for holiday this isn't so important because you want to turn off computers and telephones :) i don't have anything to say about the rooms, they were clean and cosy, the problem was the kitchen was small for four people to eat normally, but in general i was very satisfied with the service and i recommend it to the others :)

Hi, my husband already was like 30 times in Corfu - he never had such a great time with the owners. They even invited us to Spiros birthdayparty (which we could not join very unfortunately because our seminar startet in Arillas). The place is really spotless clean. To be in the pool in the morning is just sooooo nice. The view and space in the appartement is very nice (seaside). We did not ask for a pick- up in Arillas (where we were let of the bus) - but Spiros picked us up and did not charge any fee for it. Spiros and Maria really really do their best and a great job in making you feel "home in holiday". Thank you! Achim & Ute

I will start with the positives:
- Great location, fantastic views .From the pool side you can see the whole village, from the front of the villa ( or from your balcony if you have an apartment especially on the first floor ) you can enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets in Corfu.
- Excellent pool and bar/tavern. Very well maintained by Spiros and Maria
- Spiros and Maria themselves, excellent hosts. It was a pleasure to have met them and they are literally doing everything they can to make your stay there excellent

Now the negatives:

Apartments are OK, but the studios are a tad small.

The major bad point is the cleaning.
-I am not sure if there was previously a cleaning lady or not. We found out the cleaning was done by Mrs. Voula herself, which is at a respectable age. All cleaning is done using only a broom and a mop. I strongly recommend a vacuum cleaner. It helps to actually clean under the beds and also any potential spider webs off the walls or ceiling and it also it is a lot easier than with a broom.
-Also strongly recommend to change the cleaning solution/water from one apartment to another ( and not use the same water for the entire building )
-Probably because of Mrs. Voula age, it is difficult for her to reach the ceiling fans. We asked Spiros to come and clean them.
-The bed sheets we asked them to be changed 2 times in the first day. Every time they were changed with new ones ( they were fresh from the cleaning service ) we noticed they had stains on them. This is obviously the cleaning service fault, but it was something I would have expected Mrs. Voula to notice and take action.
-The towels in the bathroom were grey (I suppose initially they were white) and stained also. Again the fault is with the cleaning service, but again I expect the owner to address this.

Another unpleasant aspect is that the electric stove in the kitchen is almost worthless. It took us about 40 ~ 45 minutes to boil 300ml of milk for the baby .

Maybe we had some bad luck and things degraded recently, or maybe we are more picky than others because we traveled with a small baby and we were very focused on cleanliness.

All in all to summarize it was a very nice vacation and we had a good time, mostly thanks to Spiros and Maria who did their best at everything and because of everything else the island had to offer (places, taverns, beaches ....).

Visited and stayed at the Voula apartments on the 9th sept until the 16th sept 2013 and can say the peace and quiet setting was great, the staff were very friendly and cheerful and the view from the poolside superb, our apartment was clean and tidy and bedding etc changed regularly, food at poolside bar/restaurant was good.
The description of "cardiac hill" in other reviews is correct is correct. but overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: we had poolside view but the sea facing rooms have magnificent views!

Just back from 7 days at Villa Voula (19-26 August 2013). Absolutely delightful place - relaxed, friendly, great views, lovely quiet pool area, good bar and restaurant, and great value. Spiros and Maria were excellent and friendly hosts throughout - (the lift up the hill on the back of Spiros' motorbike one hot afternoon was welcome!). The apartments are simple but comfortable. There is no air co so it gets a bit steamy at night, but the ceiling fans help and we slept ok. Personally I enjoyed the exercise of walking up the hill to the apartments, although it is fairly steep.
San Stefanos has a good beach and plenty of restaurants and bars - it generally seemed pretty quiet while we were there which was a bit surprising for August.
There is a fun guided walk to the Corfu Brewery (great beer) and then to Arillas beach and over the cliffs back to San Stefanos, run by Keith and San Stefanos Travel, which I recommend.
PS remember the anti-mosquito spray. A torch is also handy if you are walking back late at night.
