As with many other reviews about the Voula it is a great place to stay, fantastic views over the bay and beyond. Maria & Spiros were so friendly and could not do enough for you and most people we spoke to were repeat visitors of many years. Yes the rooms could do with a little updating but was more than adequate for our needs. The road down into town was a short stroll but a bit of a hike on the way home after some fantastic meals in the taverns (take a little torch)
The area is also great for walking and a great way to see the countryside , overall it was a great weeks break and would go back again

We can only agree with previous reviews in that the apartments are basic but ours was perfectly adequate for our needs, but, there were definately "no frills" in our room! The food available at Voula is fine, we ate there during the day as it was so quiet by the pool we didn't want to go anywhere else. Maria and Spiros are great hosts and always happy to help. However, the walk down to the town is long and steep, but the walk back up the hill is considerably more like hard work and if you don't fancy a 20 minute work out for your calves we wouldn't recommend it! We did ask in a bar on a Friday evening about a taxi but were told there is only one in San Stefanos and he wasn't working that night!! We ate in a different restaurant every night and they were all good (try Mythica, in our opinion the best). All in all, no complaints at all about Voula or San Stefanos.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Voula. The apartments are very basic, and the bathroom could have done with a bit of upgrading, but it all adds to the Greek experience! The place was clean with sheets and towels being changed twice during our week's stay. The kitchen was adequately equipped for a self catering stay and included oven/grill with 2 electric hob rings, kettle and toaster. There were air conditioning units in our 2 bed apartment but there were no controls for this so I assume this would need to be hired, though we were given no information on how to go about this nor how much it costs. The pool area was great - there is a kids area of the pool, though I thought this was a bit deep for very young kids or toddlers at 0.8 metres. There is also a small playground on a lawned area next to the pool. The bar serves a good selection of drinks (beer is served in glasses stored in the freezer!) and ice creams, and there is also a restaurant area serving breakfasts, lunches and dinner, though this seemed rather underused. We had a full English breakfast on our last day which was good value at 4.50 Euros. There was no tv in the apartment but there is a tv in the bar/lounge area, though I only ever saw Greek channels on it. Voula is at the top of a rather steep, winding hill - around 10 mins walk down to the beach or the centre, longer coming back up especially in the heat of the day. The distance away from the centre means that the apartments are fairly quiet most of the time. Most of the guests at Voula seemed to be English, and all very friendly - quite a few seemed to be repeat visitors, which is always a good sign. Proprietors Spiros and Maria work really hard to ensure their guests are made to feel welcome and enjoy their stay.

It seems a long way up the hill and at times when it's hot it is but its well worth the it. The views are breathtaking. You cannot beat the pool area. The pool is a good size and the seating area around looks out over the hills and olive groves. Not at all overlooked and well away from the road. Very safe for children. We happily left our children to play in the evening with other guests whilst we relaxed and had a drink in the bar/cafe area. Maria and Spiros couldn't do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is typically Greek, basic but very clean. The showers and bathroom area does need updating but it is Greece! We looked at other accommodation nearer San Stefanos village but quickly realised that the Voula definitely had the best pool area by far. Give it a go - you'll love it.

What can we say about Spiros and Maria? Nothing but the best. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and it stayed the same until we left. They could not have been more helpful. I agree the apartments could do with some upgrading in the kitchen but Hey do you come on holiday to cook or to relax. We enjoyed our various walks in the locality. Afionadas was well worth the 10mile round trip. Go to the Dionysos Taverna. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking. There you are eating wonderful food and looking down on San Georgios. We always enjoyed our Ouzo nightcap with Spiros and Maria. Long may they stay.

My friend and I returned to Voula after 5 years and still loved it. Spiros and Maria, who manage the apartments, could not have been more helpful and friendly. The apartments themselves could do with a bit of updating, e.g. the showers are old, and when cooking breakfast, we had to wait a long time for the electric ring to heat up! However, these were minor details and did not spoil our holiday. The apartments are spotless, and have a gorgeous pool and fabulous outlook.

The menu in Voula is very limited, I don't think they really want to be bothered with meals, but Maria's moussaka is absolutely gorgeous. Although the apartments were full, we only saw two other couples eat in the restaurant during the whole week. We went across the road to the Romanza Hotel and had a couple of meals there, which were good. We also liked Town Pizza Restaurant which is down the hill to the main street in San Stefanos and turn left at the end. His pizzas are amazing.

We took walks into Avliotes, the small village about 40 minutes walk away, and also Sidari, which was a good bit longer. We enjoyed the walk to Avliotes and did it several times, but would not return to Sidari, which was rather "touristy" and not to our taste.

These apartments may not suit those with walking difficulties as they're at the top of a hill, although I have knee problems and managed the hill no problem at all.

We went on the "Corfu by Night" Thomsons trip, and thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the narrow streets and looking at the fabulous shops.

All in all, a great holiday and we will definitely be back.
