“Ideal for Walking Holidays”
Reviewed September 21, 2011

Dobbiaco is an excellent centre for walking holidays with its many, and frequent, bus services plus an excelent train service. Walking either from the town, or using public transport, is easy with lots of varied walks from the high altitude/ effort (stunning views) to low meadows and lakes.
This hotel is first rate with an excellent position next to the railway station and a short walk to the bus terminus. Hotel staff are exceedingly helpful and friendly. Food is great and generous and the wine list very extensive with something for all tastes and budgets. Apres walking there's a very relaxing spa, pool and massage room. A family run hotel and it shows.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a balcony but on the south side (with the best views) it is also closest to the rail...

We spent several nights here, using it as a base for hiking in the Dolomites. The location is convenient to the small town of Dobbiaco, but right on the railroad line, which means a certain amount of noise. The half board is a good deal, with an excellent buffet. The hot meal options are less enticing, but you certainly eat very well here. Beware of the very high charges for wine (20 euros for a quarter litre of unremarkable house white!) - this pushes up the price more than expected. There was a problem with our room (room 103, one of the larger, more expensive rooms) - it's located on top of the pool and sauna area, and a very strong disagreeable chlorine odour pervades the bathroom and seeps into the room itself unless you keep the windows open! Not a big problem in summer, but I imagine it would be otherwise in cooler seasons. Perhaps the management could do something to improve the ventilation from the pool/sauna area? The people are friendly and efficient, and the price (except for the wine!) very fair. They didn't even charge us when we were late one night coming back from a long hike and had to miss our meal - that was nice of them. On the whole a very comfortable, cozy, friendly sort of place. If you want to stay in one of the small towns of the Dolomites with all the amentities, this is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: Avoid room 103 over then pool area and right on the railroad tracks.

WE really enjoyed our stay at Park Hotel. We had a junior suite which was very comfortable. The food was outstanding and all of the staff were VERY friendly. The location was good, although the train does start running early, but to be honest did not intrude or affect our enjoyment of our stay. Nice pool and spa. Relaxing bar and reasonabble drinks prices. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would be happy to return.

We chose this hotel for a week's walking holiday in the Dolomites - their "Moments for Hiking" package. The accommodation is very comfortable. Our room had a balcony which was comfortably wide enough for two seats and a table, and although the room overlooked the railway the sound of the trains was not an issue. And if you look above the railway, the mountain view is quite spectacular. The service we experienced was unsurpassable (it really was absolutely brilliant!) and we thought it was the best buffet breakfast we had ever experienced. The dinner menus too were delicious. We enjoyed the walks which were organised and led through an outside agency. Overall a truly wonderful holiday!

It isn't often one finds a top-class hotel where there is no attempt at pretentiousness. The Park Bellevue combines modern amenities (fantastic pool, sauna etc) with attractive and traditional comforts. The cuisine is a fusion of Tyrolean and Italian and worthy of a 1st class restaurant, with a minimum of 5 courses at dinner. The staff are without exception charming and helpful, many of them are part of the family that has owned the establishment for 100+ years. Another bonus is that the hotel (and Dobbiaco itself) is more popular with Austrians, Germans and Italians than Brits so it feels genuinely European. It's not a cheap option but excellent value. It's also handy for the train if you're not driving and you can ski back practically to the doorstep. The only improvement would have been tea-making facilities in the room. (That's such a British need though!)
