Painted Boat Resort

My husband and I stayed at the Painted Boat in late August with another couple. We love Pender Harbour (not to be confused with Pender ISLAND) and go there a lot, but this was our first time staying at this resort. It was perfect for what we wanted...a beautiful location, not too far from Vancouver, gorgeous facility with two beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, a deck with barbeque, pool and hot tub. All the things we needed for a relaxing getaway!
My only complaint was the service. I didn't find the check-in/out staff terribly friendly, and when I called the first evening to ask for another couple of robes, I was told that their policy was to only provide two robes to the room. When you are paying $300.00 plus per night, surely they could have spared a couple more robes.
Other than that, we loved it and would do it again. We did not eat in the restaurant, but had all our meals in the room as my friend and I love to cook. You can walk down to the dock in Madeira Park and buy live crab (which they clean for you) and prawns. We had a seafood feast one night! fantastic time!

Our family visited in August to attend a wedding and I was very impressed with the resort. I really liked the overall style of the buildings and the suites themselves.

Our suite had everything you'd need to be comfortable including our own deck and BBQ! It was clean, comfortable, and the views of the ocean and marina were spectacular.

The pool/hot tub were on the small side, but very nice with a great view of the marina. FREE Internet (wired yes/wireless not sure).

This is the nicest hotel I've stayed at on the sunshine coast. Unless you're wanting a B&B or run-of-the-mill motor inn/motel, this would be the place to stay.

I recently stayed for two nights at the painted boat resort to attend my sister's wedding....Upon arrival, I was pleased as it looked very beautiful. My spouse and I, and the couple we were rooming with, were making our way back to our room at about 11:00pm, after a visit with the bride and groom to be when we ran into one of the managers. She told us to keep our voices down as there were paying customers who didn't want to be disturbed!!! Like, were aren't paying customers? we weren't even being loud! Then the next morning, the day of the wedding, we were yelled at by a man, (likely a manager) for setting up the reception room too early!!! He was being a total jerk, and it really upset my cousin and I.
Later in the evening, maybe around 9:00pm, this same man came down to the reception area where we were having a lovely time and told the father of the bride if we didn't tell the DJto turn off the music he was shutting us down!!! I KNOW!!! like, say hello to my sister, the bride on the most important day of her life!!!!!!!!!!!
In my opinion, and in the opinion of all 40 of my family that stayed with the painted boat, all agree that it was WAYYY over priced and not a very warm place to chill with your family or friends.

This is a luxury resort and spa set in gorgeous Pender Harbour area of Madeira Park. Everything you can imagine or need is available in the suites. The amenities are wonderful, the views spectacular, the staff outstanding. I highly recommend this as a beautiful and relaxing location. Also great for friend weekends, or fishing weekends, event reception, weddings, family reunion.

We found this resort after stopping in the Restaurant for lunch when visiting Madeira Park. Food is excellent in the restaurant by the way and about CAD60 per head for 3 courses with drinks.

Accommodation is arranged into 3-4 buildings each with apartment style rooms. We looked at a few when checking the place out for our stay. It seems that each has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area and sitting area, all spacious and very comfortable. The place has only been open a year and it shows. Kitchen has everything you'd need to cook any meal. We stayed in an end unit which has the advantage of another wall of windows (the extra $20 per night is worth it!). There are also a couple of units that have a downstairs family room which is about the size of the main floor sitting area and some have a juliet balcony. Both good for sleeping kids. Beds are the pillow top variety so very very comfortable.

Jacuzzi and pool are both heated and outdoors and good for late night dips when it's cold as well as daytime in the sun. Gym has a couple of runners and a couple of resistance machines but nothing too extreme.

Parking space per unit plus a couple of extra spaces for guests. Shops are just round the corner (market place IGA, couple of cafes) and Sechelt is about 25 minutes drive with lots of shops, Starbucks etc.

Great view from all units it seems of the harbour area, hills in the background, marina and the sun really sets it all off. Sun sets over the harbour area and this is great too.

The resort was full on our first night but you wouldn't know it. There are about 50 units but it never seemed even remotely busy. There are no activities on the site apart from the Spa, which seems good. Pender Harbour area is quiet and you'll need a car to get to the interesting parts, walks etc, but then you'll need a car to get to the resort as it's 1 hour from the ferry at Langdale, 30 minutes from Earls Cove.

We have a 2 year old and she sleeps in the main room with us because there is space and we can enjoy the rest of the unit while she gets off to sleep. Another couple can comfortably sleep in the other room with the main bathroom adjacent. There is an iron etc, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee machine... the list goes on, you won't be disappointed with the equipment.

All in all we are attracted here because of the standard of accommodation, the fact that you can look after yourself, the great restaurant, the views, the quiet and the value.

We took advantage of a special offer rate for a 2 bed 100 sqM unit in this new harbour side development.
In brief - quick and simple check in with helpful staff, lovely view of Pender Harbour and sunset from the private deck (c/w with gas BBQ too), cool modern interior, decent sized pool with adjacent gym.
The restaurant had a few teething troubles, but with the high quality of the equipment in the unit and shops just a few minutes away, why not stay in?
